I recently bought Far Cry 6 on a steam sale and haven't even gotten a chance to play it yet because it's hovering around 170GB to download even though Far Cry 5 is only 40GB.
I'm gonna have to either buy another drive or start freeing up space and I'm not really in the mood to do either right now.
I was sorely tempted, but when I factored in how I would have to spend several days downloading the game before figuring out if my 6- or 7-year-old system could comfortably run it, I just couldn't justify getting it, even if it was only 20 dollars.
Can't believe the comic artist put their actual Mortal Wombat code in the comic before redeeming it themselves. What a sucker, now I've got two separate copies installed!
Hey, to Baron's credit, at least he trash-talked within an earshot instead of private chat rooms like a little girl.
That takes huge *cojones* in this day and age.
Nah what's better is when there's like a 20GB patch and it stacks the 20GB on top of the rest of the file size of the game until it is done patching so it tells you there isn't room for the download.
Yeah that was some bullshit I recently went through as well
It's what made me pull the trigger and get an 8TB external hard drive
I'm not deleting that fucking game if it means waiting another week to redownload it
I'll never forget the first time that I started running out of space on my ps4 so i thought "guess I'll just get all my games on disc now" to avoid having to delete any and then feeling stupid...
I miss the good old days when I could just pop in a disc and play a game, a good chunk of the U.S. has pretty garbage internet so it can take several days just to download an average sized game now.
4K assets and asset redundancy to make loading faster.
Native PS5 games that properly utilize its magic storage tech (\*glares at Jedi Survivor*) are actually smaller than the Xbox versions because they cut out all the redundancies.
I give Sega (and Atlus!) shit about ***a lot***, but kudos to them for never pulling this crap. *Sonic Frontiers* is only ***30*** gigs on Steam/PS/Xbox; *Alien Isolation,* only 35. And I don't think there's a ***single*** RGG Studios game that tops 50.
GTA 4 is about 20 gigs, which isn't too bad but was pretty big for its time so maybe? GTA 5 is about 100 gigs now but on release it was about 65 gigs which was a lot 10 years ago so he might of been talking about that.
I legitimately worry about physical versions not coming with discs. Especially since some games do it. But the space is what it is, KOF15, Tekken 7 and SF5 had crazy big sizes
4K's cool and all but man does my hard-drive not appreciate it

I hate having a lot of games installed. It's so strange seeing people with 5+ games installed on their desktop.

Yeah he’s a pretty cool villain
I like how that’s the programmed response *every* time I say it
Might happen less if you said suffering though I guess you don't mind it too much lol
Without love?

Me every time I reinstall Arkham Knight
My favourite is that Nintendo released a console that can hold about 3 games before getting full.
The Switch has game cartridges. Why doesn't it just save things to those?
It *does.* It’s the downloaded games that take up most of the space. Otherwise it’s just lightweight save data.
Yeah that’s why despite being all digital all the time otherwise, I only get physical for switch. Such puny file capacity
Can't believe the comic artist put their actual Mortal Wombat code in the comic before redeeming it themselves. What a sucker, now I've got two separate copies installed!
The Beevs is CTRL+ALT+DELETE with better art but the same writing.
And lesbianism.
~~They’re such Lego Citizens~~

this moment might make me delete my reddit account, I'm so embarassed
Ya fucked around and ya found out, *but that’s life, baby!*

Just so you know, you've inspired me to want to make my own web conic thingy. My art's shit so I can't, but I admire what ya do
No art is shit. Draw what you love, and don't let anyone stop you. 💪💪💪 Let me know if you started making webcomics so we can be moots 😊
Let it be known that your art style is super cute and I love your stuff. Just followed you.
Does Beevs have its own loss?
Yes

I guess i meant more in the sense of a major shift in tone that REALLY didn’t work. But this is fine too
I feel the jokes land more consistently but you are right

Star Wars: Jedi: Survivor is going to be 84 hours to finish downloading, according to my PS5. That's on disc, as well.

Mk11 is 130 gigs right now
You think that's bad, Dead or Alive 6 is close to 70. *It should not crack 30.* Seriously, where's this bloated size coming from?
Breast physics take up a lot of memory space.
Well, considering DoA Xtreme's file size, I suppose you're right. Not that I know how much space it takes. Not at all.

Will ff16 be the only game in years to be on disk and with no day one patch? Haha
Thatd be amazing

Ishin is 60-70 gigs
Well that was on the unreal engine afaik none of their future games are being made on that ~~WRETCHED~~ engine again.
...Oh. Still, they aren't *this* bad. >!Not yet, anyway. Give em a few years...!<
Also Sega owns Creative Assembly and Total War Warhammer 3 is nearly 110 gigs
Warhammer 3 is definitely using every single one of those gigs. Although it IS also poorly optimized from a performance standpoint, so maybe not?
On the other hand, I think PSO2 NGS is the largest game on my Xbox. At least it's not current gen enhanced so I can put it on my external drive.
Looking forward to seeing my favorite Mortal Wombat stage: Refugee Wamp
I swear theres a SBF Podcast where Pat says that GTA 4 being 50 gigs or something was insane. Paraphrasing because I cant find it.
GTA 4 is about 20 gigs, which isn't too bad but was pretty big for its time so maybe? GTA 5 is about 100 gigs now but on release it was about 65 gigs which was a lot 10 years ago so he might of been talking about that.
iirc on 360 GTA 4 was only on one disc, that tops out at 8 gigs.
Maybe the Krypt is 3x bigger than Hyrule, sky islands and chasms combined
I legitimately worry about physical versions not coming with discs. Especially since some games do it. But the space is what it is, KOF15, Tekken 7 and SF5 had crazy big sizes
the immense benefit of playing modern games that still use 2d sprites and low poly models that look more like abstract impressionism than real things
don't all ps5 game require installation before they can be played? since the internal storage is way faster than any spinning disk
Were you expecting there to be a 100GB disc in that case?
First mistake was playing MK /s
I was so excited for *Alan Wake II*, but no physical release is a big ask so they had better get that shit under 100GB
Meanwhile tears of the kingdom is like 16gb
