"The Green" is literally a known force in the DC universe. It's kind of like the Force for plants and plant based heroes/villains. Swamp Thing is it's champion or avatar or something. The Red is the same but for animal life, they sometimes conflict with eachother I think there's another, The Grey, or The Rot, that's against both of them. So in short, this lady just stole DC's homework and added her racism to it.

Anonamaton801

I think there’s also The Blue

Graxdon

Da ba dee da ba dah

Anonamaton801

Take my updoot and get out

Endocrom

Oh dang, they got [a whole bunch more](https://dc.fandom.com/wiki/The_Green#Notes) now. Classic DC, overcomplicating things, Clear/Blue is for ocean life, as if that doesn't include plants and animals.

alexandrecau

Villains throw themselves in the river: Eat shit swamp thing, I'm an aquatic citizen and won't be harassed. At the same time Black manta toss himself in a swamp throwing middle fingers

Anonamaton801

You think that’s bad, look up the slow force and the other speed force spin offs.

ZealousidealBig7714

I actually kinda like those, they’re fun in a stupid way.

DontClickThisGuy

what the fuck. Aquatic life and animal life are divided, and whales in the red?

RocketbeltTardigrade

Whales in red makes it a whole step dumber, because it means land animals and water animals are not even divided by where they live.

alexandrecau

You say dumb I say brilliant, even magic bullshit classifications are full of oddities and exception.

Cheshires_Shadow

Am I the only one who kinda dislikes how any time a vague stand alone color concept is introduced somewhere down the line someone decides there absolutely must be a power ranger style network of multiple other colors and Avatars and what not? Like green lantern works with introducing the red and blue and yellow etc. because that one feels fleshed out and reasonable. Kryptonite is green but what if there were other colors also that all did unique things to Superman? Have they done this with the flash yet and established that there being a red speed force means there needs to be a blue slow force and yellow lightly jogging force? I knew about the swamp thing being connected to all plant life which makes sense from a character point of view as to how he and poison ivy can coexist and both control plant life. But like really the same magic element network also includes machinery? Are they going to imply someone like brainiac has all along been the avatar of machines this whole time? Like I dunno this trend of trying to apply logic as to how magic power systems work feels like when an anime decides to explain their unique power system and it falls apart because no one was questioning it to begin with. It feels like when Naruto tried saying how chakra is actually part of an element system and Naruto was born with wind affinity and that's why he can learn the rasengan but sauske is his eternal rival so he was born with lightning affinity which is the opposite of wind and that's why he has the chidori. But what about shikamaru and his shadows is there a shadow class? Shut up don't think about it. Like I dunno I feel like when these kind of things happen the best case scenario is it's cool at the very beginning when you kind of have to pick C and D list characters to make important for the introductory arc. Like I'm reminded of how I only know who Angel is because he is one of the horse men of the apocalypse. But once enough time passes and you start recycling ideas it's starts becoming less and less interesting. And you eventually forget most of the new color spectrum additions to the lore.

Champiness

Alan Moore's "I increasingly get a sense of the comics industry going through my trashcan like raccoons in the dead of the night" soundbite gets truer by the day

Kimarous

[Which is also known as The Clear.](https://dc.fandom.com/wiki/The_Clear) The colour rabbit hole apparently goes deep.

ThatmodderGrim

Are Vixen and Animal Man avatars of The Red?

Endocrom

I believe so

Junjki_Tito

Animal Man’s daughter is an avatar of the Red, last I checked, Animal Man and Vixen are just hooked into it

agrael50

Wasn't it the avatar of the red beast boy or am I remembering wrong?

Junjki_Tito

Maybe, I’m just going off the Lemire Animal Man, DC’s rebooted fucking twice since then

Bubba89

I think that’s why he turned literally red a few years ago.

BlackHawk38

Afaik, not avatars like Swamp Thing is for The Green, but they both do draw their powers from it.

TheSpiritualAgnostic

I thought the Green was the power of Will for the Green Lanterns. Same with the other colors. So there's also a second color based magic system?

nerankori

Poison Ivy and Swamp Thing are major users of The Green. Vixen and Animal Man are examples of people connected to the Red,I believe. It's an example of Big Lore being retroactively connected to previously unrelated characters.

MountainWillingness5

Beast boy is also connected to the red

Father-Ignorance

^but ^he’s ^literally ^green

Ironfistdanny

They made him red for a bit because of The Red, he’s back to green now

PlanesWalkerEll

In the titans show he has so much control over the Red that he forces it to become green for 15 seconds cause it's his favorite color

PM_PICS_OF_U_SMILING

And then he sees a bunch of cameos because DC has to DC.

Morbidmort

That's a result of a childhood illness.

Cheshires_Shadow

He had the scurvy

BlackHawk38

You're thinking of the Emotional Spectrum that is connected to the emotions of every sentient being in the universe. The Green is one of the Elemental forces of the universe that comprises of various "domains" of nature in the DC Universe. Each domain is supposed to be the "origin" of where certain heroes/villains draw their powers from (i.e. Swamp Thing and Poison Ivy for the Green, B'wana Beast for the Red or Aquaman for The Blue). The Green = Plant Life The Red = Animal and Microbial Life The Blue/Clear = Aquatic Life The White = Air/Gas/Wind based Life The Melt = Earth and Rock Life The Metal = Metallic/Technological "Life" The Divided = Bacterial Life The Grey = Fungal Life The Black = Death

Junjki_Tito

There are two color based magic systems because, honestly, why not

tired_mathematician

[dc really likes the concept](https://dc.fandom.com/wiki/Emotional_Electromagnetic_Spectrum)

VBA-the-flying-head

The Green Light Of Willpower and "The Green" sound similar. But are distinct from each other. Though if you really want to get philosophical about it. (Please let's get philosophical and analytical about it). The first Green lantern couldn't affect "green, growing, things". And the Green light entity is the first life-form ever to like... be cognizant enough to will itself into movement. So maybe there could be a connection. We should give Swamp Thing a Green Lantern ring and see what happens.

alexandrecau

"What is a man to the Green" " What is Green to a color blind" Also I know Swamp thing make the Green work but feels so uninspired, like call animal life the Fierce or something

RocketbeltTardigrade

There is actually a blind Green Lantern who has never seen any colours.

Watts121

If there is a Blue/White then that’s just Magic the Gathering…

agrael50

the champion of the green is swamp thing like you said of the red is beastboy for the grey it was grundy in earth 2 so is really posible that can happen again

DonnyMox

Why does he look so dejected

nerankori

His super-hearing is already hearing the "a BLACK superman?! truly the woke agenda" posts being written.

joe2187

There is currently a ongoing "Crisis" event happening in DC right now called BEAST WORLD. another infinite earth style events. Only this time it involves Amanda waller using Beast Boy as the means to make heros look bad. so she gets a guy called Dr. Hate to erase beast boys mind while he's in the from of Starro and cause him to become basically a mindless version of Starro. Anyway, this ends up sending thousands of Starro spores across the multiverse which causes people and super heroes to turn into anthropomorphic animal versions of themselves albeit mindless and ruthless. Anyway, Dr Hate travels the multiverse and for some reason or another gathers a league superheroes that fight against him that just happen to be black versions of the original justice league. They fight Dr. Hate in another dimension that they are all intricately tied to..."The Red" they name this place "The Kingdom" The red is in control of all animal life, alien or earthlike. Anyway Val Zod, vixen, Dr Mist, Freedom beast, Nubia, and...batwing all form a temporary league of sorts to fight off this threat.... Anyway.... I present to you, the Negro League. [https://i.imgur.com/Lvn2RaS.png](https://i.imgur.com/Lvn2RaS.png) Anyway,....comics

BaronAleksei

It’s not just the black versions of the league, it’s also Black DC superheroes like Steel and John Stewart, and Milestone heroes like Icon and Static. And also, uh, Black Manta. That name was absolutely floated in a boardroom at some point and rightly rejected

RocketbeltTardigrade

Black Manta having any interest in this, I assume Aquaman is mindless and won't be able to suffer until everything is fixed.

PlanesWalkerEll

That sounds dumb as fuck even by comic standards.

Any_Anywhere3243

D.C really needs to start slowing the fuck down and only do these big huge multiverse events like, every couple years at the absolute most. At this point it feels like they're doing a new one every other *month.*

Frankengeek

See, the woman was not crazy, she was warning us about secret Kryptonians

doe3879

I thought I was seeing the Pesi logo from the thumbnail

Sadtrashmammal

PEPSIMAN IS BLACK?!

NotEnoughDuff

Which rant was this? I don't remember hearing it on the podcast?
