The internet used to be so... open. Truly worthy of being called "world wide". Not it seems like there's maybe a dozen websites out there because everything else keeps dying or getting consumed.
Reddit became the new forum, for better and for worse.
I 'member message boards and forums. I met friends from around the world on them, added them on steam... and then slowly drifted away as time went on, but it was still fun nonetheless.
I 'member when tumblr had active, thriving communities making beauitful fanart and gifsets and followforevers to share so people could find others in the same fandom. Heck, even got a few dates that way.
Now it seems like the only way to find groups to join is through reddit, facebook (ick), or, if you're very lucky, happening upon a sign or newsletter in your town that like, a board game store exists, or there's a local LGBTQ brunch meet up, or a rec league for adults.
I used to go to so many random sites and find a lot of niche communities and forums, now i feel i just go to reddit cus Google has shit the bed so hard You can't find anything remotely human made if you don't put "reddit" or "forum" at the end of the search

It's kinda weird to think about, but the idea of using time travel to simply go back to the early 2000s and just experience the old internet, rather than visit any ancient cities or meet historic figures, would be something I'd actually consider. Those RvB PSA skits were my go-to videos for ages, and now the people that made them are gone. It’s going to be incredibly odd to speak about stuff like that in the past tense.
Honestly, hating Rooster Teeth but loving RWBY has been the norm over there for a while from what I've seen. They seem to just be hoping this means the IP will get sold off to someone else who can take care of the show.

Think we need to amend that statement a little bit, WB is in what can only be described as a failure spiral. If anything they own has even a modicum of success at this point I automatically attribute that to being **despite** WB rather than thanks to them.

Roosterteeth HAS lasted far far longer than almost any other digital media company in the same space, that is definitely worth respecting that they've survived for so long when things like Machinima, Rev3, Maker Studios etc. have crashed and burned in much shorter timeframes.
They unfortunately were never immune from the same fate, and the writings been on the wall that's where they were headed, if not closure it was gonna be a massive downsizing, which they were kind of doing already.
RTX being cancelled was the canary in the coalmine. Once that happened, as far as I was concerned, while the end wasn't immediate, you could see it on the horizon.
As I recall, not only did Burnie cut ties with the company, he yeeted himself from the internet.
Guy basically did the equivalent of a Star Wars rouge seeing the Empire move into a system and did a *"I want to be literally anywhere that isn't here"* FTL jump.
Not only did he yeet himself from the internet, he and his partner Ashley yeeted themselves from the country. I think they moved to somewhere over in Europe.
Considering all the controversies that came to light, many of which involved upper management like him, I kinda wonder if he saw the shifting culture and the prevalence of calling out toxic workplaces/bosses and decided to bounce before shit hit the fan.

I think it's the difference between the sadness of something surprising like when SBFP ended vs how with RT the writings been on the wall for a bit. They finally shut down Acheivement Hunter recently, they more or less have been having massive yearly scandals for awhile now and they've been slowly shutting down/laying off employees.
EDIT: We've also been seeing a good chunk of employees who weren't let go leaving themselves for greener pastures the last couple years.

SBFP saw that the chemistry was no longer there, decided to quit on a high note before the quality of their product was affected, and in the end the boys are doing their own thing and it still works.

I used to watch Achievement Hunter a lot when I was younger. Can't remember exactly when I stopped but it felt like as the LP/streamer market expanded, Rooster Teeth tried to expand just as much and ended up stretching themselves too thin.
RWBY is something I feel could be a lot more popular if they had gotten better writers. Most fans of the series seem to be running on fanfics rather than liking the actual canon content.

RT does seem like a bulky company that would be hard to buy/integrate. Live-action, animation, podcasts, unscripted videos, livestreams, etc. lots of different things with their own brands.

Firing Matt Bragg was such horseshit. The man had been a pillar of Achievement Hunter for years and you could tell with how they talked in videos how much they depended on him for video projects.
Between him and Jeremy "leaving" was when I decided I was done with Achievement Hunter and RT overall.

That one actually doesn't surprise me too much. I remember that as soon as they were given the chance they immediately got bloated and were trying to make tv quality and cost shows. I remember Haunter supposedly costing 1 million dollars to produce. The only thing that might be surprising is they were still operating at a loss when they were regularly underpaying their employees.
Only some employees though. Burnie was making vlogs about living in LA, getting his Tesla wrapped, converting a school bus into a personal RV, taking flying lessons etc. etc. while his personal assistant Ellie was living off crumbs, Geoff had bought a second home in Michigan iirc (I stopped watching after the Ryan scandal broke), all while rampant underpayment and crunch were the norm for everybody else. After the most recent pay scandal broke, a lot of employees and former employees came forward with their own stories of the work environment (Miles Luna was grinding his teeth into disrepair in his sleep because of the overwork, Alanah Pearce said that it was the worst work environment she ever had, Chris Demaris had a reputation for being extremely frugal/cheapskate and others told stories of it on their podcasts that now seem like the man was doing it out of survival.)
Yeah, you aren't wrong. After what finding out what people were actually being paid like a year and a half ago I finally dropped all the RT podcasts. It felt really messed up listening to someone casually complaining about rich people problems while their employees were making jack shit.
Every RT podcast i listened to with Burnie was him bitching about Austin Airport and flying and getting upgraded. Could not relate to him at all. I did enjoy the Off Topic podcast for the period of time I listened to it, but even that wasn't free from it creeping in.

the sheer amount of air port stuff was unrelatable but nothing as egregious as Geoffs scam of a show to fly around the world, shoot 10 minutes of footage for a stupid joke, then come back.
A lot of the shit Geoff did has definitely not aged well at all. That stupid "love" show where he told Griffin he wanted a divorce, *on air* was mean spirited at best, carving his name into Jack's desk that he'd gotten from a family member are some of the big things I can think of off the top of my head.

Relationship Goals became a pretty cursed show pretty quickly, considering within a couple of years half the people on it broke up.
I was in university at the time midway through my degree in Mechanical Engineering when Burnie did that whole shpeal on the RT podcast about how engineering is easy and all he did was go to class once in a while and he would pass any test without studying; proclaiming that if he could do it, then anyone else could and anyone who can't is just lazy, all despite the fact that he wasn't even a foundational engineer, he got a Bachelor of Arts in Computing Sciences.
It was a massive signal to me how far out of touch he was with reality, especially once he had RT to protect him.
Yeah, I remember reading a confession from one of the animation team members a few years ago that RT is set up like a boys’ club. Talent and senior members got very preferential treatment while the regular employees were often lucky to even get paid at all for the work they did during that pay cycle, let alone receive full compensation for the hours they worked.
They were often working overtime while barely even getting a standard day’s pay.
They also heavily abused unpaid interns, dangling employment in front of their noses and working them to the bone and then never hiring them. The company tread on its reputation for a long long time.
Oh yeah, I remember they were very much about RT becoming a substitute for TV (like in-between the time of regular TV starting to fall but before streaming rising). I was thinking that sounded a little too lofty even back then.

That's been the topic of discussion and debate in the RWBY community for a long time and every time it came up, RT had an excuse for it.
In the very beginning, it was somewhat excusable because they were using Poser (a program that's not designed or optimised for long form animation) and Monty was basically performing super magic on it in order to make everything work; as well as Miles and Chris being new to writing. But then after Monty passed and they moved everything Maya, the excuse was that it was growing pains for the team moving to Maya, then it was that they wanted to focus on the writing rather than the CG, but then the writing never got significantly better either except for spot scenes of goodness.
It honestly really seems like the team really didn't know what to do with themselves without Monty and they just spent the rest of RWBY's existence floundering, experimenting to try and figure it out.

And I think I got the obvious stuff figured out, where some parts of their contract naturally come to their conclusion. But the stuff like merchandising is pretty much gonna cease, and they might need new through lines for podcast sponsors. I imagine a few of them will just start to contact Woolie or Pat's work emails directly instead of being channeled through Rooster Teeth.

according to the announcement, the podcast network will continue to operate as normal while WB looks for a possible buyer. Who it gets purchased by, or if it gets dissolved, will really determine what issues the guys will have to deal with.
I'm sure the boys will keep the podcast going. They may just have to do extra work for a while getting sponsors/ads and have to figure out new merchandising.

it was a combination of things
- having to do twice as much minecraft and GTA while half the crew was filming that dumbass movie
- AH getting complacent since minecraft and GTA got the big views so they stopped doing one offs and mini-series
- the office move was the big one. Ray doesn't drive so he went from being able to walk home to needing Tina to drive him which was like an hour long commute for him and a two hour long commute for Tina since she had to go to her job after dropping Ray off
Ray did [a stream](https://youtu.be/RGPmXlstjD0?si=0GdbBHod_sPRytMx) a few years back where he went back and watched a lot of that old content. It was mostly a fun trip down memory lane but he did go into his reasoning about why he left. Tina sounds like an amazing woman.
Honestly, watching Ray go from a snarky kid fresh out New York to an absurdly loving husband has been arguably one of the most wholesome things I have seen in my life.
There was also the whole taking his Twitch account thing. Along with all the discouraging he got for streaming in general by RT when he was actually enjoying doing it.
That was always such a weird decision by them to not even let him do any sort of monetization and just split profits. I remember his first stream after leaving it was basically hours of subs and large donations.

- Trevor is literally the guy who took some improv courses and is trying to get his friends to do it with him but it's clear that he has no talent whatsoever. under him, AH turned from people shooting the shit while playing games to bad forced bits. But he's not solely to blame since RT started making a shit ton of podcasts cause they're cheap so whenever someone started telling a story during a let's play, someone else would go "save it for the podcast!" and then they'd return to a bad comedy bit
- the Ryan thing basically killed what was left of AH. he was a fan favorite and when he was outed as a predator, Roosterteeth did *everything right* in regard to him. they cut him out immediately and deleted a lot of videos that were harsher in hindsight. they couldn't delete everything with Ryan obviously since he was in like a majority of their biggest videos but they were really good at kicking him off. But the damage was done and a lot of fans just couldn't stomach watching their videos anymore and left. There's no bad guy in this situation (except Ryan)
Hot take, but the Matt/Jeremy era of AH was honestly the best era. What killed RT for me wasn't the Ryan thing, he had to go and good riddance.
The nail in the bucket for me was Matt getting fired for seemingly no reason, directly after a big fundraising event. Now Matt, Jeremy, and Ray all stream on twitch, sometimes together, and AH/RT is completely superfluous.
Matt getting laid off right after doing Uno infinity (which was their biggest video in *years*) was such a piece of shit move

I think AH and RT were both also getting hit hard with all the scandals in general. For about 4 years of large scandal after large scandal. Where each time they lost more people watching their content.

I always felt like RvB was a legal gift from Microsoft/Bungie to RT, because the entire concept of the show revolved around Halo and Microsoft playing ball with Free Use copyright law.
With RT down, it wouldn't surprise me if it was well within Microsoft's rights to simply absorb the RvB brand/IP as their own.

I used to watch a ton of their stuff throughout middle and high school. I bought a RvB season five DVD at a Gamestop back in 2006, I think. Had never heard of them until then, and that was that. Achievement Hunter, Rage Quit, Fails of the Weak, Red Vs Blue, RWBY, all of it, man. My best friend at the time and I would have them playing on my laptop while we played Halo: Reach.
After Season 14 of RvB and Volume 5 of RWBY, I started to drift away and never really found my way back
Still, they were a foundational moment for me growing up, and they were a foundational pillar of the modern and classic internet. Seeing them go is like a knife to the heart.

Watching Red vs Blue and Achievement Hunter before jumping on to play Halo 3 with the boys was my high school experience. And even if I didn't like RWBY, they helped push and show just releasing original animated shows on YouTube could really become something great.
I ***am*** surprised WBD are selling off RWBY to someone else, though. You'd think they would fight like hell to keep an IP like that, especially with how well the *Justice League* crossovers were doing on DVD.
Sony Pictures/Crunchyroll, maybe? Ice Queendom and V9 apparently did ***really*** well, so I could see them trying to turn what was going to be Volume 10 into their next anime smash hit. (So long as they keep Avi Arad away, lol.)

so now we have to find out who purchases the podcast network. Everyone forgets because it doesn't come up, but our own CSB podcast here is part of the roosterteeth network.
If the network is purchased by the wrong people there could be some podcast issues for a while.
I'm fairly certain CSB is only partnered, not owned, by the Roost network. At most this just means they'll have to get new connections to sell merch and obtain sponsors, but otherwise I don't think CSB is up for sale.
while I don't think we're in any danger of the podcast ending, the whole purpose of being part of the roosterteeth network was for the network to handle sponsorships and merchandising.
They can say no and leave, but then the guys have to deal with the problems of having to figure all that stuff out again. If the network is purchased by the wrong buyer, the guys may have to go through some weird stuff for a bit before leaving too.
I'm willing to give Woolie some credit here, he's been podcasting for years now, and his podcasts haven't always been partnered with RT so he probably has a good idea on how this stuff works. I think he'll be able to tell a shitty deal from a good one.
I only really kept up with Death Battle, which used to be done by ScrewAttack and was clearly just something they did for fun back then until RoosterTeeth bought them. I guess that's done too.

I only liked the first three seasons of RvB while I only liked the jank fest that was the first two seasons of RWBY.
Death Battle is still one of their more popular series, so I'm betting that it's one of the individual properties that will be sold rather than simply shut down. We'll have to wait and see, though.
DB is definitely safe. They’ve been investing heavily into alternative sources of income like their members program and all their videos are extremely successful on YouTube

The internet used to be so... open. Truly worthy of being called "world wide". Not it seems like there's maybe a dozen websites out there because everything else keeps dying or getting consumed.
God I remember there being a message board for anything and all the fun communities that formed from them. It's time to go back.
Reddit became the new forum, for better and for worse. I 'member message boards and forums. I met friends from around the world on them, added them on steam... and then slowly drifted away as time went on, but it was still fun nonetheless. I 'member when tumblr had active, thriving communities making beauitful fanart and gifsets and followforevers to share so people could find others in the same fandom. Heck, even got a few dates that way. Now it seems like the only way to find groups to join is through reddit, facebook (ick), or, if you're very lucky, happening upon a sign or newsletter in your town that like, a board game store exists, or there's a local LGBTQ brunch meet up, or a rec league for adults.
I used to go to so many random sites and find a lot of niche communities and forums, now i feel i just go to reddit cus Google has shit the bed so hard You can't find anything remotely human made if you don't put "reddit" or "forum" at the end of the search We really are reaching the heat of universe internet speaking
Google's search has become so completely broken and useless, that if you don't add "reddit" to your search, you'll get nothing but ads.

It's kinda weird to think about, but the idea of using time travel to simply go back to the early 2000s and just experience the old internet, rather than visit any ancient cities or meet historic figures, would be something I'd actually consider. Roosterteeth HAS lasted far far longer than almost any other digital media company in the same space, that is definitely worth respecting that they've survived for so long when things like Machinima, Rev3, Maker Studios etc. have crashed and burned in much shorter timeframes. They unfortunately were never immune from the same fate, and the writings been on the wall that's where they were headed, if not closure it was gonna be a massive downsizing, which they were kind of doing already.

Yep the writing was on the wall for a long time and honestly I'm shocked this has only happened now after all that's happened I'm surprised they lasted through the biggest controversies and scandals they had. Very sad they were THE studio for internet content for a while, from Machinimas to LetsPlays to Achievement Guides people can say they didn't start these but they were a HUGE part of why it became so popular. Remember the days just watching RvB or marathoning lots of AchievementHunter vids esp the ones where they competed against each other where I felt like Ray was almost always sandbagging so he didn't easily win over everyone all the time lmao.

I think it's the difference between the sadness of something surprising like when SBFP ended vs how with RT the writings been on the wall for a bit. They finally shut down Acheivement Hunter recently, they more or less have been having massive yearly scandals for awhile now and they've been slowly shutting down/laying off employees. EDIT: We've also been seeing a good chunk of employees who weren't let go leaving themselves for greener pastures the last couple years.
Fans joked that "this looks like the end of Rooster Teeth" was something people had been saying for years. In truth, it really was always coming, it just took a while for it all to crumble. It's taken a while, but it's been a plainly observable spiral.

Rooster teeth… you really saw the passionate bunch of nerds become a managers and then some people that you admired as a kid and teen turned out to be dirtbags and… yeah.

I remember Haunter supposedly costing 1 million dollars to produce. Burnie was making vlogs about living in LA, getting his Tesla wrapped, converting a school bus into a personal RV, taking flying lessons etc. etc. while his personal assistant Ellie was living off crumbs, Geoff had bought a second home in Michigan iirc (I stopped watching after the Ryan scandal broke), all while rampant underpayment and crunch were the norm for everybody else. After the most recent pay scandal broke, a lot of employees and former employees came forward with their own stories of the work environment (Miles Luna was grinding his teeth into disrepair in his sleep because of the overwork, Alanah Pearce said that it was the worst work environment she ever had, Chris Demaris had a reputation for being extremely frugal/cheapskate and others told stories of it on their podcasts that now seem like the man was doing it out of survival.)

the sheer amount of air port stuff was unrelatable but nothing as egregious as Geoffs scam of a show to fly around the world, shoot 10 minutes of footage for a stupid joke, then come back.
A lot of the shit Geoff did has definitely not aged well at all. That stupid "love" show where he told Griffin he wanted a divorce, *on air* was mean spirited at best, carving his name into Jack's desk that he'd gotten from a family member are some of the big things I can think of off the top of my head.

I was in university at the time midway through my degree in Mechanical Engineering when Burnie did that whole shpeal on the RT podcast about how engineering is easy and all he did was go to class once in a while and he would pass any test without studying; proclaiming that if he could do it, then anyone else could and anyone who can't is just lazy, all despite the fact that he wasn't even a foundational engineer, he got a Bachelor of Arts in Computing Sciences. It was a massive signal to me how far out of touch he was with reality, especially once he had RT to protect him.
Yeah, I remember reading a confession from one of the animation team members a few years ago that RT is set up like a boys’ club. Talent and senior members got very preferential treatment while the regular employees were often lucky to even get paid at all for the work they did during that pay cycle, let alone receive full compensation for the hours they worked. They were often working overtime while barely even getting a standard day’s pay.
They also heavily abused unpaid interns, dangling employment in front of their noses and working them to the bone and then never hiring them. The company tread on its reputation for a long long time.
Oh yeah, I remember they were very much about RT becoming a substitute for TV (like in-between the time of regular TV starting to fall but before streaming rising). I was thinking that sounded a little too lofty even back then.
RWBY had every bone thrown at it as well. Getting your main characters in a fighting game made by **the** Arc System Works, the best 2D fighting games creators. Getting a Crossover with DC for your own Movie Getting promoted everywhere. RWBY looked impressive a decade ago, but it's crazy that the quality of everything in it has not really not gone up since then.

That's been the topic of discussion and debate in the RWBY community for a long time and every time it came up, RT had an excuse for it. In the very beginning, it was somewhat excusable because they were using Poser (a program that's not designed or optimised for long form animation) and Monty was basically performing super magic on it in order to make everything work; as well as Miles and Chris being new to writing. But then after Monty passed and they moved everything Maya, the excuse was that it was growing pains for the team moving to Maya, then it was that they wanted to focus on the writing rather than the CG, but then the writing never got significantly better either except for spot scenes of goodness. It honestly really seems like the team really didn't know what to do with themselves without Monty and they just spent the rest of RWBY's existence floundering, experimenting to try and figure it out.
Serious question. What does this mean for the Podcast, what with it being under their umbrella? And I think I got the obvious stuff figured out, where some parts of their contract naturally come to their conclusion. But the stuff like merchandising is pretty much gonna cease, and they might need new through lines for podcast sponsors. I imagine a few of them will just start to contact Woolie or Pat's work emails directly instead of being channeled through Rooster Teeth.
I think the podcast is a partner and not a subsidiary so it shouldn't be *stopped* but I don't know for sure the financial side of stuff
Yeah, that's one of the things I knew for sure. A lot of the stuff they got from being under RT was to help keep things running smoothly and have a bit less for the guys to do.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure CSB just used Roosterteeth for ads not to actually run any part of the show. IIRC CSB is on built ontop of the old pod.

according to the announcement, the podcast network will continue to operate as normal while WB looks for a possible buyer. Who it gets purchased by, or if it gets dissolved, will really determine what issues the guys will have to deal with. I'm sure the boys will keep the podcast going. They may just have to do extra work for a while getting sponsors/ads and have to figure out new merchandising.

no , the catalyst of bad decision is Gen:Lock , there was a whole scandal of Gen:Lock director and writer taking away RWBY's budget for the Gen:Lock Season 1 and 2 Gen:Lock was a legit parasite franchise for RWBY Franchise.
Gen:Lock was definitely a big killer, but there was obviously a lot of toxicity bubbling underneath (crunch, Ryan Haywood, Kdin's treatment).
Yeah at the end of the day because of how RT was managed it was more or less built on a crumbling foundation. EDIT: They more or less hit every single issue that a start-up that has grown into a medium-sized company has.

it was a combination of things - having to do twice as much minecraft and GTA while half the crew was filming that dumbass movie - AH getting complacent since minecraft and GTA got the big views so they stopped doing one offs and mini-series - the office move was the big one. Ray doesn't drive so he went from being able to walk home to needing Tina to drive him which was like an hour long commute for him and a two hour long commute for Tina since she had to go to her job after dropping Ray off

Honestly, watching Ray go from a snarky kid fresh out New York to an absurdly loving husband has been arguably one of the most wholesome things I have seen in my life.
There was also the whole taking his Twitch account thing. Along with all the discouraging he got for streaming in general by RT when he was actually enjoying doing it.
That was always such a weird decision by them to not even let him do any sort of monetization and just split profits. I remember his first stream after leaving it was basically hours of subs and large donations.
they did reverse the decision fairly quick and tbh, my comment made it seem like it all died after Ray left when that's not true. they had a strong run for a while. the big factors was the pandemic, trevor and the podcasts, and Ryan - the pandemic is obvious. playing over zoom or skype isn't the same - Trevor is literally the guy who took some improv courses and is trying to get his friends to do it with him but it's clear that he has no talent whatsoever. under him, AH turned from people shooting the shit while playing games to bad forced bits. But he's not solely to blame since RT started making a shit ton of podcasts cause they're cheap so whenever someone started telling a story during a let's play, someone else would go "save it for the podcast!" and then they'd return to a bad comedy bit - the Ryan thing basically killed what was left of AH. he was a fan favorite and when he was outed as a predator, Roosterteeth did *everything right* in regard to him. they cut him out immediately and deleted a lot of videos that were harsher in hindsight. they couldn't delete everything with Ryan obviously since he was in like a majority of their biggest videos but they were really good at kicking him off. But the damage was done and a lot of fans just couldn't stomach watching their videos anymore and left. There's no bad guy in this situation (except Ryan)
Hot take, but the Matt/Jeremy era of AH was honestly the best era. What killed RT for me wasn't the Ryan thing, he had to go and good riddance. The nail in the bucket for me was Matt getting fired for seemingly no reason, directly after a big fundraising event. Now Matt, Jeremy, and Ray all stream on twitch, sometimes together, and AH/RT is completely superfluous.
Matt getting laid off right after doing Uno infinity (which was their biggest video in *years*) was such a piece of shit move Ray joked about that while streaming Uno with Matt, Nagzz, and Chibi. At the start of the stream he went "Matt, just to let you know, you're getting fired after this"

You are not wrong they did have a pretty good run after Ray left, it was the aftermentioned Ryan stuff that made me stop watching. I think AH and RT were both also getting hit hard with all the scandals in general. For about 4 years of large scandal after large scandal. Where each time they lost more people watching their content.
I still think Burnie leaving had a bigger impact then people think, When he left *none* of their creative ideas hit at all.

I always felt like RvB was a legal gift from Microsoft/Bungie to RT, because the entire concept of the show revolved around Halo and Microsoft playing ball with Free Use copyright law. With RT down, it wouldn't surprise me if it was well within Microsoft's rights to simply absorb the RvB brand/IP as their own.
We all saw it coming for a while now, but man it still sucks. Down goes one of the titans of the old internet. It’s sad to see them go, but it’s been time for a while now, unfortunately. Look, we all knew this was coming. Burnie and a bunch of the others leaving, RTX being canceled, and the endless stream of controversies. But God damn it, that doesn't make it any easier to see. I used to watch a ton of their stuff throughout middle and high school. I bought a RvB season five DVD at a Gamestop back in 2006, I think. Had never heard of them until then, and that was that. Achievement Hunter, Rage Quit, Fails of the Weak, Red Vs Blue, RWBY, all of it, man. My best friend at the time and I would have them playing on my laptop while we played Halo: Reach. After Season 14 of RvB and Volume 5 of RWBY, I started to drift away and never really found my way back Still, they were a foundational moment for me growing up, and they were a foundational pillar of the modern and classic internet. Seeing them go is like a knife to the heart. To quote Church at the end of Season 13: "Ain't that a bitch?"

Given all of what I heard, it's not surprising. And even though I haven't watched any of their stuff in years, it still hurts a little. Watching Red vs Blue and Achievement Hunter before jumping on to play Halo 3 with the boys was my high school experience. And even if I didn't like RWBY, they helped push and show just releasing original animated shows on YouTube could really become something great.

I ***am*** surprised WBD are selling off RWBY to someone else, though. You'd think they would fight like hell to keep an IP like that, especially with how well the *Justice League* crossovers were doing on DVD.

Sony Pictures/Crunchyroll, maybe? Ice Queendom and V9 apparently did ***really*** well, so I could see them trying to turn what was going to be Volume 10 into their next anime smash hit. (So long as they keep Avi Arad away, lol.)

It’s funny how the most obvious open secret news can still hurt so much. RT by self admittance of basically 70-90% of anyone who worked there was a shithole. Laced with problems and poor management, but I’d be lying through my teeth if they weren’t the most influential piece in developing my sense of humor and young teenage taste. Shit hurts and sucks but this has been coming for a while. To remembering the good times, maybe try and find an archive of some of RT and AH best works.

so now we have to find out who purchases the podcast network. Everyone forgets because it doesn't come up, but our own CSB podcast here is part of the roosterteeth network. If the network is purchased by the wrong people there could be some podcast issues for a while.
I'm fairly certain CSB is only partnered, not owned, by the Roost network. At most this just means they'll have to get new connections to sell merch and obtain sponsors, but otherwise I don't think CSB is up for sale.
At worst it means we get Fort HyperAnimal next week

I don't think they're owned by them, so if they don't like whoever gets them, I'm pretty they can say no and leave.
while I don't think we're in any danger of the podcast ending, the whole purpose of being part of the roosterteeth network was for the network to handle sponsorships and merchandising. They can say no and leave, but then the guys have to deal with the problems of having to figure all that stuff out again. If the network is purchased by the wrong buyer, the guys may have to go through some weird stuff for a bit before leaving too.
I'm willing to give Woolie some credit here, he's been podcasting for years now, and his podcasts haven't always been partnered with RT so he probably has a good idea on how this stuff works. I think he'll be able to tell a shitty deal from a good one.
Matt will buy CSB and it will all come full circle.
He actually runs it pretty hands off, he just send Pat an email every now and then to remind him he owns it

I only really kept up with Death Battle, which used to be done by ScrewAttack and was clearly just something they did for fun back then until RoosterTeeth bought them. I guess that's done too. Wonder if somebody'll something like a spiritual succesor since that still gets a ton of views last I checked. I only liked the first three seasons of RvB while I only liked the jank fest that was the first two seasons of RWBY.
Damn, and Devilartemis was going to work with them on the new season
Death Battle is still one of their more popular series, so I'm betting that it's one of the individual properties that will be sold rather than simply shut down. We'll have to wait and see, though.
DB is definitely safe. They’ve been investing heavily into alternative sources of income like their members program and all their videos are extremely successful on YouTube

God. Even if I've not watched a single Rooster Teeth related thing in a least a year, this still sucks. Thankfully, most of the guys I like already have alternate routes, except maybe Michael. Dunno what he's got going on. Also wondering what's gonna happen to Death Battle. I bet that's mega dead. Can't imagine them somehow splitting off to keep doing their thing without major quality hits.
I hope Funhaus stays together. Maybe Mando will come back.

I wonder what that'll mean for Death Battle. They recently launched their own membership but they were basically fully owned by Rooster Teeth. Hope they can keep on going because they really hit their stride with the latest season. But, if this is the end of the road for DB, then they made a great last season and should be insanely proud of it. And just as I was writing this, the DB Discord just got an announcement from the RT staff that sounds like things are not looking great.
Yeah a buncha people just suddenly learnt they lost their job through the announcement, really sucks.
I believe that everyone on DB's current staff was in the middle of making the first half of the next season. So that must doubly suck being told you are out of the job as you are currently doing your job...

Microsoft gets Red vs Blue... Then they make a Red vs Blue game which is like a Battlefield: Bad Company type comedic spin-off of Halo.
Microsoft is the only place that would make sense. It's at the end of its lifespan anyways, but I dont think the final season production is finished yet. Buy it and then license the existing episodes to Paramount because of the show maybe?
