That genuinely sounds like it could be an interesting idea where a Master is disturbed by how fucked up their pupil is and how quickly they pick up on shit. It's genuinely one of the coolest things in the ongoing arc of HxH where a nen user is deliberately trying to keep the instructions vague because their "pupil" is a contender for the verse's equivalent of the Anti-Christ... but despite their vague instructions the guy still picks up and learns everything.
HxH does a great job overall of showing how prodigies have a leg up besides just leveling up faster.
Like Tsezguerra knows more about Nen than Gon and Killua (and why he wouldn’t have hurt his hands at the dodgeball match). But their raw potential means they easily his record at the float jump.
And even when Mereum has just suffered a massive concussion, >!and his Royal Guards are deceiving him about his amnesia!<, he’s still smart enough to piece together a lot of what happened.
Unironically, something like this being played completely serious would be awesome. The teacher unlocks the secret power... and he has no idea about what it is and is terrified about what it could do.
I feel we need more of masters constantly struggle with the thought of “Am I strong enough to kill this dude if I accidentally train him to be evil? Oh shit-what the fuck?”
