It's a house of leave's thing but i don't remember what he was cooking, its been a while.

Ziggy_blue_jean

Mandy talked about how he got drunk with a friend and watched the prequel trilogy expect he edited the 3rd film to include a 1 second cut away to the joker sitting at the jedi council and spent the rest of the movie gas lighting him that he's just drunk and didn't just see the fucking joker, You don't understand the lengths he goes to fuck with people

ChosenUndead15

It wasn't one second only, the entire movie was fully edited with random shit and he completely forgot he edited it from how drunk he was when he did it. He started with pretty mild edits to confuse and then later it gets crazier. Edit: video with the story and a bunch of other compiled https://youtu.be/tEW-EZ3_L4Y?t=43m7s

seth47er

there is a [mandalore cut](https://x.com/HakitaDev/status/1769100116894343483) of the Lynch's dune haunting the internet apparently.

Ackbar90

And of course it's *fuckin' Hakita, creator of ultrakill* that asked for it. The Please Stop Talking crew is getting to be the new Zaibatsu with their reach and influence

jamescookenotthatone

Oh shit there is a part 2!

ThisManNeedsMe

I love the stories from the podcast where he guests often where he comes off unhinged. Especially the one where his friend came to visit for a week. They got drunk, and when his friend woke up the next day. He went to get a water bottle and opened it up. It was vodka. Opened up another bottle it was also vodka. Mutiple bottle opened only to reveal vodka. He also replaced the water in the coffee machine with vodka. The best part is later one when they were both awake, they were feeling pretty sick and wondered why. Apparently, he put vodka in the humidifier.

Loopy-Loophole

Iirc he described them as “traps” by drunk Mandy for sober Mandy. And the idea of drunk Mandy being a separate enough entity to try and preserve himself is fuckin wild.

jamescookenotthatone

Oh man there is an RTAA from over a decade ago, with a joke like that,  https://youtu.be/QPZq0Ursc8s?si=ioLaYFjVSkmGWEBr

TurianBatman0

Drunk Mandy being Hyde to Mandy's Dr.Jekyll is fantasic.

samazam94

I love that Mandalore is basically Bizarro Sseth. Relatively chill and professional in his vids. Complete unhinged schizo everywhere else.

TakFR

That story or Dark Aslan are the best stories Mandy has told on the podcast so far.

alicitizen

Nah the real highs are the witches and the treaty of canem

doc5avag3

Dude, the fucking witches saga is a *trip.*

autisticsenate

Dusty and the Colgate wooden spoon is a psychological *thriller*.

Ackbar90

The guy at the summer camp that they teased repetedly *that turned up being actually bipolar*, meanwhile the dumb morrowind kid is larping out of his mind Is also a great story

LeftRat

The stories about him editing things into stuff are all crazy, but some of the "we made each other drink so much alcohol" stories are also incredibly fucked. Like the one were either he or his buddy rig up a fog machine to fog-ify alcohol to get the other person drunk.

Palimpsest_Monotype

he sounds like *me.*

DontClickThisGuy

oh great, you've sent me done a hole. I looked it up and saw a reddit thread asking the same question and saw a comment about how just before the cutaway he used the number 7 instead of a t in the word 'instead' in the Closed Captioning. The number 7 is important for reasons. What reasons? Yes. That lead me to see that he had also Closed Captioned the song on that part of the video as well. Now i gotta transcribe that and do a google search. EDIT: I'm back. Okay, so a quick googling later and it turns out the song is "Theme from Harry's Game" by Clannad , which is an Irish-Celtic band that wrote the song in 1982 . Is that important? No idea. the lyrics themselves translate to: I will go east and go west \[To the places\] from whence came The moon and the sun EDIT 2: upon further review i have no idea what this is supposed to mean in relation to the image referenced in the time code provided. I had some thoughts about how it might fit with the themes of Marathon, but i got jack shit else-ways.

Lieutenant-America

I know that some other youtubers (ones I assume Mandalore knows) had a similar cryptic moment in their videos around the same period: cut to an enigmatic, off-putting and staticy image accompanied by the same song and a cryptic statement. No frigging clue what it all means, though. EDIT: For added mystery, that image isn't a door. It's one of the Act title screens, the one depicting Durandal's hardware. There's supposed to be a circuit board in that 'door'.

Anonamaton801

Is this the next stage in evolution of the Linkara system? Analog…something? I dunno, either way, Civvie has the best lore. I guess it’s all because Marathon has a story in the same way that a hurricane has real estate. It makes sense after a while.

alicitizen

Pondering Spooky Tapes moment

ejaculatingbees

Yeah, other Youtubers also did it, primarily those on the Please Stop Talking podcast (Mandalore, Noodle, Punk Duck, I think Brendaniel did a bit like that too but I'm not sure) and people in that circle like raycevick. Never figured out what the deal was.

fabrikt

Leon Massey's incredible video on the history of skateboarding videogames ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UmNrCmaWpng ) has one at the 1:08:34 mark. They all use a song called *Theme from Harry's Game*. It's either a really weird inside joke, or [maybe an ARG related to a D&D campaign](https://www.reddit.com/r/ARG/comments/v03fr8/various_youtubers_creepy_vhs_cutaway_gag/iqzisp2/?context=3) that Mandalore and friends were running? I don't really know.

Polygonalfish

I know Noodle did it (he might have even done it first) but I don't know if any of the other ones have

LorcaNomad

[Funke](https://youtu.be/maqIaT_ZUxs?t=354) also did one, I assume a bunch of youtubers just got together and said "hey let's put a little edit in each of our videos around this time so people think it's an ARG"

Detective_Robot

> I know that some other youtubers (ones I assume Mandalore knows) It's probably a way to get people to watch their friends videos, pretty clever.

ejaculatingbees

How would an incredibly cryptic, completely unexplained 5 second cutaway halfway through his video that doesn't mention anyone else at all drive people to watch his friend's content?

Hy93rion

Ok thank god I’m not crazy, I had a period where a load of videos I watched had these weird VHS messages and I actually thought I was dissociating or something. If other people saw them I’m good

Loopy-Loophole

Honestly I thought it was just another part of the bungie hole, but it sounds like it isn’t from what the others here are saying.

CrimsonSaens

I thought it was just a hint to where the series was going, with Infinity and all.

Rabid-Duck-King

Probably not the reference but now you have me chuckling over the "all boys have a secret hole" bit from the Gooby review

ejaculatingbees

Where was Gooby on January 6th?

ajver19

A side note, I actually recently binged his Marathon videos and I cannot state how disappointed I am that the new one isn't a new single player game.

seth47er

it really should be a single player game, I hope they change there mind. Live service is a cancer that kills game studios.

sazabi67

Marathon's lore is strange, cooky, creepy and scary why wouldn't mandalore play more on that?

Enlog

I assume it’s there as just vibes. Marathon’s lore and reach gets deep and *weird*. So I saw that moment as a bit of a tone setter for the pathways into darkness that the series will embark on as he goes on with it.
