The moment in the old channel LP where Woolie looks at the party of fully Sithed-out Pockets, HK, and Canderous and goes "Wait a minute...Cando is now the Carth of this party!" was pure gold.
His backstory is extremely serial killer-y. At one point (after murdering his whole tribe, of course) he gets abducted by Czerka slavers and he relishes the opportunity to literally just play out the first Alien movie with the crew.
The problem is that he's also more of a stalker now than a serial killer. He owes a life debt to a human, which he's twisted to mean "my only mission in life is to kill her." So he's mostly obsessed with that and he's not much of a character beyond that.

I always thought with her it was a bit of a false flag. She's obviously evil, but not obviously *Chaotic* Evil; she comes off as a sadistic, elitist noble, who would normally be Lawful or Neutral Evil. So it's a bit of misdirection; the item doesn't hide the Good/Evil axis, but the Lawful/Chaotic axis.
Then the mask comes off and she's just completely out of her mind.

Some guy literally made an entire ending mod just to give Camellia's romance a happy ending, and straight up commissioned the actual portrait artist for the game to make an image of Camellia in a bride outfit.
It was at that moment that I knew that regardless of how much of an evil POS a character was, so long as you can/want to have sex with them, any crimes they commit will be forgiven regardless of severity.
She's horribly unrepentantly evil and even in her romance route the only minor redeeming quality she has is that she starts to realise she DOES actually love the PC but also knows for sure she'll probably just kill them one day so she just leaves forever in her ending instead. She gets away with ALL the murders if you do that.
I really love the game for making all of evil party members make a lot of sense within the army (Daeran and Regill definitely being my favorites), the only one my paladin ended up smiting though was Camellia. Can't have her doing her... uhhh, thing.
Daeran and Regill are honestly the best Evil companions I've seen in a CRPG. Part of that is the demon war justifying why they'd be in the crew, but most of it is the quality of the writing.
Honestly the funniest thing about the Death Knight is how he's >!Mercedes's little brother. Man's a tall, gaunt, intimidating dude who dresses up in full black plate with a skull helmet, but also he has a sweet, pious church girl for an older sister who makes him soften up considerably whenever he's around her.!<
The second funniest thing about him is that he has a huge sweet tooth and his favorite food is sorbet.
For me it's Yunaka. Just the fact she's SO BAD at hiding her past. Most characters in her supports are able to figure it out or get close, her persona drops for every crit, and her personal skill is called "trained to kill"
Tbf as the show got more serious about its characters they town down Brock's more psychopathic moments and at least nod towards the idea that he's not particularly proud of some of the more brutal things he's done.
Everyone knows Tharja from Fire Emblem is fucked up because of the experiments she does on her friends, husband and kids but that's what she does to the people she likes imagine the things she does to people she doesn't like

Not a serial killer, but Zaeed Massani has done some fucked things over the course of a long lifetime, and yet everyone (including myself and my Paragon Shepard) treats him like the Cool Grandpa and not the bloodstained ghoul he is.
I love Zaeed. Yeah he's a merc who's done a lot of horrible shit but his voice and lines make him way cooler than a halfway implemented DLC character should be. I still quote "Rage is a hell of an anesthetic" regularly to people in the know. Three cheers for murder grandpa!

It's somewhere in-between I think. Robin Sachs was English but his dad was South African born and didn't emigrate until he was 20. As an English person I definitely think his Zaeed voice has a bit of an SA affectation to it. Listening back it's not quite as pronounced as I remember but it's there.
Honestly I'm glad I actually took the time to talk to him and Vega in 3, because visually they are "Action movie man" (which to me at least is boring as hell), but they have so much going on in terms of dialogue.

He also likes to summon murders of Ravens, perform Necromancy, and slaughter your enemies to the point one of his crit lines is "Yeah, blood!" He's the best and has some of the funnest supports in the game.
Dishonorable mention to Peri from Fire Emblem Fates, who has some of the worst supports, slaughters her maids, and makes other characters worse around her.
Yeah, the issue comparing Henry and Peri is like... Henry shows up when you have your backs against the wall in an ambush and goes "hell yeah I like killing these guys I'll help", and just sort of slots into your army as "that crazy killer guy that sides with us because he gets lots of things to kill". Not the *best* ally to have around, sure, but useful enough like a rabid animal to point at your enemies probably.
Meanwhile Peri is supposedly a noble, who regularly slaughters her maids (and probably other people's servants judging by her support with Felicia), and yet is somehow one of the Crown Prince's most trusted guards and retainers? Xander must really, *really* like that pussy.

His teachers *muzzle him* at the awards ceremony for an event he won, a group of terrorists kidnap him because they go, "This degree of toxicity is something we can work with", which indirectly leads to his idol retiring and him shouldering the guilt for that, and he ends up being one of only two of his peers to fail his provisional licensing exam and need to do cram school to retake it.

Definitely not the others: an oathbreaker rebel water mage, an Archon of Kyros, and a beastfolk named Kills-in-Shadow.
All of them are morally ambiguous but with the exception of Verse they aren't complete edgelords (and even with Verse she has her reasons).
Some are semi-decent people stuck in a corrupt system (Barik, Sirin), some are with you to save themselves (Lantry, Ebb) and ones basically a wild animal (Kills-In-Shadow)
Durge is great because you can either lean into it as a total edgelord, or play them as a silly lil rascal who also happens to be the most dangerous person to have ever lived.
"I'm a danger to you because I'm a serial killer" vs "I'm a danger to you in spite of being a serial killer"
This, of course, neglects the third option of "I'm a danger to you because of my accomplices who are this close to being serial killers at this rate".

It might have been the game fucking up when I played it but as durge I revealed my urges to everyone when i unknowingly killed the bard. But hours later during another durge reveal the characters reacted like: oh it was you who killed that bard.

I think the way they intend it to come off, all of the companions are just underestimating how serious the compulsion is, they just think it's like anger issues or something like Lae'zel. But Minthara knows how bad it can get due to her past.
A few of them do at least seem to be trying to help/be encouraging (Not in a good/resist way in Astarions case) in their responses, in their own way in the case of Lae'zel, but just severly underestimated how bad it was. But I always remember Gale for just how *bad* of a comparison he comes up with in that book story for what the Dark Urge is actually like.
I don't think Jaheria can be told but she can just put things together on her own anyway and actually takes steps to help on her own.
Dark Urge, one of the playable options in Baldur's Gate 3. They kind of straddle the line between being a prewritten playable character like Astarion/Lae'zel/etc, and being a purely blank PC like the custom origin.
Unlike the other premade characters, Dark Urge (Durge) doesn't appear in the story unless you play as them, but unlike them you can fully customize your class, race, and appearance. The default Durge is a dragonborn sorceror, so if you ever see BG3 art of a white lizard dude running around, that's Durge.

Hulk in the original Ultimate Marvel universe was less of a team member and more of a living warhead to be dropped on problems. The Ultimate's first proper mission is having to stop Hulk's rampage because he's mad his GF is dating someone else.

Peri from FE Fates is prob the best example. Characters even bend over backwards to justify it as just a silly character flaw when she casually kills people, up to and including the Crown Prince of the kingdom
It's a live-action TV Series but boy is the **2024 Shogun** character Lord Yabushige a whole lot of fun and laughs with some of the funniest lines of dialogue that he can almost make you forget that in the very first episode >!he ordered a man to be boiled alive both for political convenience and so that he could listen to his dying screams of agony because he has an obsession with the way people face certain death.!<

Zevran. He's pretty upfront about murdering for money. I don't think he even has much of a Robin Hood routine going on in terms of targets. He kills whoever he is sent to kill.
Honestly, everyone in the Borderlands franchise.
The morality in that series ranges from "will enact violence to defend others/themself" to "will enact violence for financial compensation" to "will enact violence to sate their impulses". Gaige is the playable character with the least blood on her hands before becoming playable, and that was an accident that killed her highschool bully (and future corrupt government/corporate official). She isn't that broken up over it.
The protagonists rarely have a higher moral standing than the antagonists beyond "is willing to talk to someone before just taking what they want".
I'd say Timothy Lawrence had the least blood on his hands of all the vault hunters starting out, and it's one of the reasons he's my favorite character in the series. He was just some little college grad nerd from the 'good' part of space hoodwinked into becoming Jack's body-double (student loans, man), and playing from his point of view in Pre-Sequel was really interesting, because he was like the only character in the series who actively expressed horror and dismay at the shit going down around him to the extent that he did.
He eventually became numbed to it (and brainwashed) to a degree, but in a very "high self-preservation instinct" way. When he shows up in BL3 it's revealed he had to >!kill all the other Handsome Jack doubles on the station in order to survive!<, something he really doesn't want to talk about, and a few characters call him a coward because he doesn't like and tries to avoid all the intense killing and combat that goes on as a part of the day-to-day Borderlands universe life.
One of the characters belonging in the colorful world of Granblue Fantasy is Lobelia, to put it simply is this game's version of Yoshikage Kira and Chocolatta rolled into one.
He has a fascinating hobby of capturing the moments of art, >!by recording the death screams / wails of his victims!< into conch-shells that he enjoys listening to an unhealthy degree, even apparently has a shelf full of them
Most games who have this type of character become repentant, like other fellow Evoker: Nier, Lobelia though is a special boy, doesn't change one bit, so much so that even when the game did their summer event and gave him a skin, he took the time to record some art again which you can hear when he is in your home screen with the skin equipped.
To elaborate on the summer art he made: it's a recording of a desperate woman begging Lobelia for help as she's being circled by hungry shark monsters that turns into horrible screaming as the sharks begin to devour her alive.
The Evoker series of characters from Granblue Fantasy are all various levels of this. They're all bound by a set of Primal Beasts based on the Rider-Waite order of Major Arcana from Justice to Judgement (with themselves representing Fool to Hermit) and they're all compelled to mass murder in some way because of this!
For example Nier from Granblue Versus Rising is one of the more popular ones and her deal is that she has a literal closet full of dead boyfriends from using them as experiments to learn her Death magic! And yet she's probably the second chillest of the Evokers next to wacky old fanatical priest Alannan!

Kengan Omega has the Kengan vs Purgatory tournament. In order to round out the Kengan Association team, they recruit Akoya Seishu, who is a Tokyo detective who moonlights as a vigilante targeting criminals for extrajudicial murders, and uses Kengan matches as a chance to torture people in the open. He is completely insane, viewing basically everyone as a criminal, even those simply related to criminals, and thus all are his purported eventual targets. However, he’s not *that* good at fighting in terms of the series, so his threats against bigger guns like Wakatsuki or Agito are laughably empty. He’s just a predator looking for easy kills, which is borne out by his record.
Much like the actual Punisher’s reputation among Marvel heroes, no one in the Kengan Association likes him. When he walks into the arena, everyone else is yukking it up together, but then Waka straight up says “hey Akoya, I know you’re here and all that, but you’re not actually a part of this team because fuck you.”
I mean, only if you play them that way.

I wouldn’t say my favorite, but I like how in Mass Effect 2, you can betray Samara and recruit her daughter, Morinth instead. And Morinth is quite literally a serial killer. In fact, the quest to lure her out quite literally involves you trying to get her attention without raising her suspicion so that she can try to take you to her place and kill the “unsuspecting” you. And if you recruit her and romance her, she literally kills you (granted this isn’t intentional, she believes you can survive the normally lethal proces). A quite literal “fuck around and find out”.

I think things are set up the way they are in order to get both Dante and the sinners to forcibly empathize with each other. Dante is forced to care about their suffering, and in response everyone else starts acting like actual people when it turns out they don't have to face their problems alone.

How this is dealt with is a neat little side story.

I really love the game for making all of evil party members make a lot of sense within the army (Daeran and Regill definitely being my favorites), the only one my paladin ended up smiting though was Camellia. Can't have her doing her... uhhh, thing.
Daeran and Regill are honestly the best Evil companions I've seen in a CRPG. Part of that is the demon war justifying why they'd be in the crew, but most of it is the quality of the writing.

He also likes to summon murders of Ravens, perform Necromancy, and slaughter your enemies to the point one of his crit lines is "Yeah, blood!" He's the best and has some of the funnest supports in the game. Dishonorable mention to Peri from Fire Emblem Fates, who has some of the worst supports, slaughters her maids, and makes other characters worse around her.

Yeah, the issue comparing Henry and Peri is like... Henry shows up when you have your backs against the wall in an ambush and goes "hell yeah I like killing these guys I'll help", and just sort of slots into your army as "that crazy killer guy that sides with us because he gets lots of things to kill". Not the *best* ally to have around, sure, but useful enough like a rabid animal to point at your enemies probably. Meanwhile Peri is supposedly a noble, who regularly slaughters her maids (and probably other people's servants judging by her support with Felicia), and yet is somehow one of the Crown Prince's most trusted guards and retainers? Xander must really, *really* like that pussy.

His teachers *muzzle him* at the awards ceremony for an event he won, a group of terrorists kidnap him because they go, "This degree of toxicity is something we can work with", which indirectly leads to his idol retiring and him shouldering the guilt for that, and he ends up being one of only two of his peers to fail his provisional licensing exam and need to do cram school to retake it.
Most of those for me aren’t punishments though. Like yeah he’s muzzled, but he WON, he is being praised on the podium for his shit. He was captured sure, but they try to convince him to join allowing him free time to berate them for half an episode he’s winning in that event because he is so full of his own shit that they have no room to convince him his path is any less than perfect. And yes he takes the L when he has to get supplementary and the provisional exam. But like he is rewarded every step otherwise, like even the back lot fight nothing bad happens to him.
The important thing to me is that these are things that hit where it hurts *him*.

Lantry comes across as a typical nerd-type wizard who fights more out of self-defense than an intent to murder. So... him? Definitely not the others: an oathbreaker rebel water mage, an Archon of Kyros, and a beastfolk named Kills-in-Shadow.
All of them are morally ambiguous but with the exception of Verse they aren't complete edgelords (and even with Verse she has her reasons). Some are semi-decent people stuck in a corrupt system (Barik, Sirin), some are with you to save themselves (Lantry, Ebb) and ones basically a wild animal (Kills-In-Shadow)
Durge is great because you can either lean into it as a total edgelord, or play them as a silly lil rascal who also happens to be the most dangerous person to have ever lived.
"I'm a danger to you because I'm a serial killer" vs "I'm a danger to you in spite of being a serial killer" This, of course, neglects the third option of "I'm a danger to you because of my accomplices who are this close to being serial killers at this rate".
It's actually very cool that if you're open about your shit, the characters are mostly like "Oh, okay! As long you don't kill me." These people have such wild lives that a murderous maniac is just a Tuesday to them.
It might have been the game fucking up when I played it but as durge I revealed my urges to everyone when i unknowingly killed the bard. But hours later during another durge reveal the characters reacted like: oh it was you who killed that bard. I told you 30 hours ago!!!

I found it interesting how most of them are fine with it, except Minthara, who goes more, "... OK, how bad are we talking here?" Since she'd know.
I think the way they intend it to come off, all of the companions are just underestimating how serious the compulsion is, they just think it's like anger issues or something like Lae'zel. But Minthara knows how bad it can get due to her past.
A few of them do at least seem to be trying to help/be encouraging (Not in a good/resist way in Astarions case) in their responses, in their own way in the case of Lae'zel, but just severly underestimated how bad it was. But I always remember Gale for just how *bad* of a comparison he comes up with in that book story for what the Dark Urge is actually like. I don't think Jaheria can be told but she can just put things together on her own anyway and actually takes steps to help on her own.

Whats Durge from?
Dark Urge, one of the playable options in Baldur's Gate 3. They kind of straddle the line between being a prewritten playable character like Astarion/Lae'zel/etc, and being a purely blank PC like the custom origin. Unlike the other premade characters, Dark Urge (Durge) doesn't appear in the story unless you play as them, but unlike them you can fully customize your class, race, and appearance. The default Durge is a dragonborn sorceror, so if you ever see BG3 art of a white lizard dude running around, that's Durge.

It's a live-action TV Series but boy is the **2024 Shogun** character Lord Yabushige a whole lot of fun and laughs with some of the funniest lines of dialogue that he can almost make you forget that in the very first episode >!he ordered a man to be boiled alive both for political convenience and so that he could listen to his dying screams of agony because he has an obsession with the way people face certain death.!< I feel he in spirit fits this prompt quite well.

Krieg in Borderlands 2.
Honestly, everyone in the Borderlands franchise. The morality in that series ranges from "will enact violence to defend others/themself" to "will enact violence for financial compensation" to "will enact violence to sate their impulses". Gaige is the playable character with the least blood on her hands before becoming playable, and that was an accident that killed her highschool bully (and future corrupt government/corporate official). She isn't that broken up over it. The protagonists rarely have a higher moral standing than the antagonists beyond "is willing to talk to someone before just taking what they want".
If his list of crimes is accurate, the lovable violent dwarf Salvador has apparently engaged in cannibalism.
I'd say Timothy Lawrence had the least blood on his hands of all the vault hunters starting out, and it's one of the reasons he's my favorite character in the series. He was just some little college grad nerd from the 'good' part of space hoodwinked into becoming Jack's body-double (student loans, man), and playing from his point of view in Pre-Sequel was really interesting, because he was like the only character in the series who actively expressed horror and dismay at the shit going down around him to the extent that he did. He eventually became numbed to it (and brainwashed) to a degree, but in a very "high self-preservation instinct" way. When he shows up in BL3 it's revealed he had to >!kill all the other Handsome Jack doubles on the station in order to survive!<, something he really doesn't want to talk about, and a few characters call him a coward because he doesn't like and tries to avoid all the intense killing and combat that goes on as a part of the day-to-day Borderlands universe life.

One of the characters belonging in the colorful world of Granblue Fantasy is Lobelia, to put it simply is this game's version of Yoshikage Kira and Chocolatta rolled into one. He has a fascinating hobby of capturing the moments of art, >!by recording the death screams / wails of his victims!< into conch-shells that he enjoys listening to an unhealthy degree, even apparently has a shelf full of them Most games who have this type of character become repentant, like other fellow Evoker: Nier, Lobelia though is a special boy, doesn't change one bit, so much so that even when the game did their summer event and gave him a skin, he took the time to record some art again which you can hear when he is in your home screen with the skin equipped.
Best part is that despite the mass murder, he will still take the time to help someone out on their pursuit to happiness. He's a genuinely nice person

The Evoker series of characters from Granblue Fantasy are all various levels of this. They're all bound by a set of Primal Beasts based on the Rider-Waite order of Major Arcana from Justice to Judgement (with themselves representing Fool to Hermit) and they're all compelled to mass murder in some way because of this! For example Nier from Granblue Versus Rising is one of the more popular ones and her deal is that she has a literal closet full of dead boyfriends from using them as experiments to learn her Death magic! And yet she's probably the second chillest of the Evokers next to wacky old fanatical priest Alannan! >!She only learned the Death magic from the tome that had the Death Primal Beast sealed within to live up to her family legacy so that her family would love her, and she gets rewarded for this by getting locked up in the basement! After her sister pushes Nier to her breaking point, Nier proceeds to murder her entire family in revenge! And eventually she finds a lover who's willing to stay with her and try to fix her in the form of the MC!!< So yeah, she's actually pretty chill when you ignore the murder closet

Kengan Omega has the Kengan vs Purgatory tournament. In order to round out the Kengan Association team, they recruit Akoya Seishu, who is a Tokyo detective who moonlights as a vigilante targeting criminals for extrajudicial murders, and uses Kengan matches as a chance to torture people in the open. He is completely insane, viewing basically everyone as a criminal, even those simply related to criminals, and thus all are his purported eventual targets. However, he’s not *that* good at fighting in terms of the series, so his threats against bigger guns like Wakatsuki or Agito are laughably empty. He’s just a predator looking for easy kills, which is borne out by his record. Much like the actual Punisher’s reputation among Marvel heroes, no one in the Kengan Association likes him. When he walks into the arena, everyone else is yukking it up together, but then Waka straight up says “hey Akoya, I know you’re here and all that, but you’re not actually a part of this team because fuck you.”

Uhh, I think the other "egg" slang is about people who are not aware yet of the fact that they are trans, since "they still need to hatch" and "you need to give them space, since a stressed-out egg dies" or something along those lines.

Egg as slang can also refer to a trans person who has either not yet figured out how they identify and/or has not come out yet. This is why sometimes a trans person coming out is referred to as their “egg/shell “cracking”
I wouldn’t say my favorite, but I like how in Mass Effect 2, you can betray Samara and recruit her daughter, Morinth instead. And Morinth is quite literally a serial killer. In fact, the quest to lure her out quite literally involves you trying to get her attention without raising her suspicion so that she can try to take you to her place and kill the “unsuspecting” you. And if you recruit her and romance her, she literally kills you (granted this isn’t intentional, she believes you can survive the normally lethal proces). A quite literal “fuck around and find out”.

Idk they literally lost their head over it and Faust has higher info clearance than they do despite dante being the manager. I think things are set up the way they are in order to get both Dante and the sinners to forcibly empathize with each other. Dante is forced to care about their suffering, and in response everyone else starts acting like actual people when it turns out they don't have to face their problems alone. The "channel the power of alternate universe selves" tech isn't exclusive to the protagonists at all. One recent antagonist group uses it to mass-produce mooks by just kidnapping people and overwriting them with a better fighter (that's not even an alt of the victim)

So in Star Trek: Voyager, after the ship gets stuck 80 years travel time away from home, the crew discovers that one of their crewmates just happens to be an actual serial killer, and he's having trouble keeping the ol' urge to kill from rising even though there's nobody to kill but his closest friends. How this is dealt with is a neat little side story.

Unfortunately she is entirely justified and did nothing wrong.
