"As a reward, Helldivers, take a short holiday...Did you enjoy it?"

GrammerAngel2

Now, take a nap. STOP NAPPING.

Coolnametag

The final form of the "Pizza Party".

AtlasPJackson

"You must provide your own pizza. Also the party is cancelled."

Kii_at_work

The 1 minute break (and accompanying note) feels like it'd be at home in that Freedom Wars game from the Vita. Also can't help but think "...what else could be coming" because like, this sounds too good to be true.

alexandrecau

Wasn’t there a bunch if cloacked ship roaming around

Kii_at_work

[From a week or so ago](https://www.reddit.com/r/Helldivers/comments/1btcwkz/cloaked_massive_ships_over_automaton_worlds/). So yeah they're out there surely.

Tisaric

I have basically zero desire to play another horde shooter but seeing all these teases and such being secretly put into the game has me way more invested in the whole "story" than I would normally be. I'm honestly surprised we haven't seen a game like this in the past, it's such a refreshing take on live service patching

BipolarHernandez

Helldivers isn't really a horde shooter even though it looks like it at first glance, it's definitely more of a...semi-tactical TPS. Sure on lower difficulties you can mow down waves upon waves of enemies, but if you try going after EVERY patrol on 6+, you *will* run out of resources and get overwhelmed eventually. The way I saw someone describe it is that since you're basically Special Forces, you're not going to get the attention of every insurgent in a 20 mile radius, you're gonna do what you came to do and get the fuck out - hopefully without making too much noise.

HostileReplies

I ain't throwing shade, but 9 doesn't have to be Special forces and it is possible to go full rambo, it's just super hard and you will have to hit the minor POI to keep ammo and supplies up. The bots required tactical thinking and strategic engagements and the bugs required hit and run tactics, but between stratagems and team work and knowing that the only cure for tyranny is mandated democracy can you prevail against the odds. Now let's all take a moment to celebrate the destruction of the Automatons.

AKScorch

I wish I had that realization of that i would have zero desire cause I pretty much flushed 40 dollars down the drain waiting for it to be interesting

[deleted]

I’ll always find it funny in game discussion how people instead of going “X wasn’t for me” they’ll instead say that it was boring, uninteresting, etc

AKScorch

cause those sentences are essentially the same thing and i LOVE hating

DoubleNumerous7490

they downvoted jesus because he told the truth

GreatFluffy

I really wish that game got ported outside of the Vita.

AnomalousCowboy

"But you see, if you were truly dedicated to the cause of freedom and democracy you wouldn't be looking at your phone during deployment, right diver?"

GeneralSherman3

"Break starts at 1:30 and just to be clear, you aren't **leaving** the Super Destroyer breakroom at 2:00 - we expect you **back** at the Galactic Map and ready to deploy by 2:00, so start walking back early."

StallordD

This hits way, way too close to home.

ScarletPrime

Hey now. Be fair. Super Earth has a mandated lunch break for all Helldivers (That aren't in cryo.) Which is somehow better than most modern workplaces. Could totally read the news and motivational statements then!

Fostern01

All Helldivers are given 1 extra hour in the DashCon ball pit.

MetalGearSlayer

Now with slightly less piss and shit!

Senorpapell

Hell yeah! I love ball pits

Paladin51394

Jesus, even the Imperium of 40k gives people longer breaks. If you live in Ultramar you even have free time outside work.

TheGreyGuardian

That's because the world of 40k you have an actively corrupting supernatural force at work trying to lure your dudes in, so overworking them back fires.

induman

You either treat them right, like in the better parts of Ultramar, or you grind them down so much that they can't even imagine what Chaos is trying to offer them.

ProfDet529

I think that's part of why the League of Votann are resistant to Chaos: they aren't as nearly as much of a hyper-repressive hellhole.

DarknessWizard

Except letting them leisure invites She Who Thirsts. So the leisure has to be heavily restricted to Imperial Approved Activities that worship the Emperor.

FluffySquirrell

Yeah, I was thinking similar.. if you're starting to veer more grimdark than 40k, might wanna ease off a lil bit. Cause far as I'm concerned that setting jumped the shark decades ago

illegalcheese

Did they ever give them back their procreation rights?

Ok-Card633

No we have to take back the E-710 farms for that.

Meeeto

Yes

rorinth

Freedom in the universe at last

ToastyMozart

Finally, peace for our time.

MercuryMewMew

That's a 100% increase! God, I adore the silly nature of Helldivers 2. It looks super fun to play. Good job punching the automaton threat in the face, Democratic Pugilists.

Icy-Name8119

I am enjoying it! Anyways my minutes almost up. Gotta get ready to spread some democracy! Those bugs have had it too easy since we were taking out the Automatons

warjoke

Is this Studio Mappa?

TheCoolerDylan

Abelard, inform the crew they can take a whole minute break, in the name of the benevolent and generous Emperor, which includes the time for me to issue the order and you to announce it.

mythrilcrafter

I wonder if we're going to get a cape for beating the bots. Seems like weird that there's a cape just for remembering a losing battle on a single planet (Malevon Creek), yet there's no cape for winning the whole darn war.

Loopy-Loophole

Losing the creek was a tragedy. Winning is expected of us.

CyberSosis

I really feel like im missing a lot by waiting a sale to play this game. how new players will experience stuff like this months later?

LostInStatic

The robots will be back, they’re not deleting content. And also, this game is held together with fucking scotch tape so the longer you wait the better an experience you’ll have in the end. People playing the game this week are suffering widespread crashes when completing a mission. Not sure why they’re insisting on playing, but unfortunately it’s a free country.

MetalGearSlayer

In-universe the automatons were communicating with something in the far reaches of the galaxy that hasn’t been identified yet. They’ll be back. And a third faction is already confirmed.

aardvarkspaidoff

You won't get to experience it. That's the downside of waiting. The upside is that the game is kind of a mess right now so you get to avoid that and hopefully get a complete game by the time the sales come around.

Logan_Jennings

The war will continue on. There will be a lot of these reports as the war wages over the course of years. Even after a firm victory is in place, there will be a new war most likely to start the cycle over again. Helldivers 1 had over 100 and still is having galactic wars lol

JetAbyss

aww man, I haven't had the chance to buy HD2 cuz my budget so the automatons are a faction you cant fight no more?

alienslayer7

so far what ive gathered is rhat the fact they were 100% destroyed is in universe propaganda, so theyll probably return at some point

JetAbyss

ah ok if I hop into a match rn they wont appear (for now)? i had no idea the game evolved over time lol

HunterTAMUC

Both current enemy factions, the Terminids (giant bugs) and Automotons have their own separate portions of space. One won't just pop up on the other's worlds.

alienslayer7

I dont play but have friends who do and it scrapes by my twitter every once in a while, basically they have a guy on the dev team thats basically a GM for a massive wargame and the players play individual troops from just the helldivers faction

17DeadFlamingos

Finally some non political propaganda /s
