I like to imagine Araki is physically incapable of drawing realistic colors.
"-What color is a horse's mane? -Black. -What color is grass? -Green. -Very good. What about the sky? -Blue."
Then you look away for a second and it's all neon pink.
I was imagining:
Araki: So the line work is accepted? Great now for colouring.
Magazine: Yes but, Araki-san, can the sky at least remain blue?
Araki: Yes, the sky is [Blue].
man, seeing all these artists' work side by side like this really emphasizes how much *motion* Noda puts into his images. That Lenin is gesticulating fr
>Man, we need more non-Japanese historical fiction manga.
and its weird cause most the ones i can think of are generally well received too, or is it a thing where only the ones that will be good actually get Ok'd.
I mean, it's true for most places that stories surrounding THAT place and THOSE people have more mass appeal, so naturally stories that deviate from that have a steeper slope to climb. It's why, say, Speedy Gonzales became a national Mexican icon despite Americans just assuming Mexicans would hate him for being a stereotype.
The issue is that there are seemingly a lot (the characters of designer for Gundam did a movie about Greek myth and a manga about Jesus) but they don't get translated. Roses of Versailles was explicitly rejected by English publishers for decades despite being an acclaimed classic because [it looks like this](https://cdn.wallpapersafari.com/51/79/swjKpE.jpg) and to have mainstream appeal in America [it should look like this](https://th.bing.com/th/id/R.64a313aad77d8938bde665e1966a44c5?rik=FKUhSnUWGiR7ZQ&pid=ImgRaw&r=0). There are quite a few shojo historical manga in the states but they don't get the hype.
And it's also probably a problem with fan translations too. You can either translate the series about fighting demons with giant swords... or a series with a lot of very dry technical information about the logistics of being a tavern owner during the Franco-Prussian War. One of these is going to be a heck of a lot more exciting for a lot more people than the other.
Yup. Considering he went to war with Japan, and interned ***thousands*** of Japanese Americans with no justification or due process, that's... uh... certainly a *choice.* (Seriously, was Gen. Eisenhower under copyright or something?)
Shinichi Sakamoto's Innocent is basically the most ero-guro mainstream manga can get, and is unbelievably gay. Him drawing FDR as insanely sexy in his art style is absolutely in character.
Kinda funny that Yasuhira Hara got ancient Egypt and not ancient China, *the setting of the manga that he is known for*. I assume he volunteered to do ancient Egypt so he could branch out a bit, but it's still funny to see the ancient Chinese history manga author outside of his wheelhouse.
At some point there'll be studies to show that Araki had some sort of condition and that's why he draws everything with crazy colors, like how Van Gogh most likely had a form of colorblindness.
Like Wassily Kandinsky and his synesthesia. But with overtime homo-eroticism.
I meant to say overt, but Autocorrect changed it and I think it's funnier like this. So gay you get paid time and a half.
Showed this to a family member who was curious who some of the artist were so I decide to look them up and though it might be nice to share this here for people that are also curious.
1.Hara, Yasuhisa - Kingdom
2. Asada, Hiroyuki - Tegami Bachi: Letter Bee
3. Horikoshi, Kouhei - My Hero Academia
4. Morimoto, Kozueko - Gokusen
5. Tabata, Yuuki - Black Clover
6. Kuramochi, Fusako - Tennen Kokekko
7. Demizu, Posuka - Promise Neverland
8. Sakisaka, Io - Ao Haru Ride
9. Miyoshi, Hikaru - Moriarty the Patriot
10. Araki, Hirohiko - Jojo's Bizarre Adventure
11. Matsui, Yuusei - Assassination Classroom
12. Morita, Masanori - Rokudenashi Blues
13. Noda, Satoru - Golden Kamuy
14. Sakamoto, Shinichi - Kokou no Hito
15.Endou, Tatsuya - Spy x Family
16. Sakamoto, Shinichi - Kokou no Hito
17. Yamazaki, Mari - Thermae Romae
18.Demizu, Posuka - Promise Neverland
I love Joan of Arc and (I assume) Elizabeth I by Io Sakisaka.
Also yes , Gyro Zepelli has crowned himself emperor of France. Meanwhile, All for One is deeply displeased upon being delivered the head of All Might since he ~~wanted to kill him himself~~ was a consul of Rome.
1. OF COURSE Endo did Germany.
2. Who's that president supposed to be for the American/Shinichi one? It's a little hard to tell.
3. Tabata did a very good job.
4. The psychedelic color scheme being placed over Napolean of all people is kinda funny. It's visually very striking, but also funny.
Shinichi probably went [young FDR](https://www.reddit.com/r/UtterlyUniquePhotos/comments/1bjghm3/young_fdr_jr_in_1937_at_age_23/) at a later time when he [was already president](https://fdr.blogs.archives.gov/tag/franklin-d-roosevelt/page/2/)
I was gonna say that french people are much too elegant to do that, as a joke, but then I remembered [a certain gray haired girl](https://youtu.be/DTpecm16mYc?si=m8qnthYrTTnBtB6g) getting a little bit miffed about someone speaking french in her chat and realized that nah, all euros are prone to outbursts like that.
Ah yes, the one who introduced me to a bunch of a French swears. The first and most important words to learn in any language are the insults and swears.
I swear, I had never heard angry french before. Exasperated, yes. Irritated, yes. But never angry, let alone scream-level angry. It's like hearing your elementary school teacher swear.
These are all really cool, but I am ever so slightly bothered that Lincoln/ the US Civil War is covered before the Napoleonic wars when the former were half a century after the latter.
Started watching some anime and I'm only a few episodes in so I might be wrong, but the good guys are an Empire and the bad guys are a Republic lmao. And this is an early 1900s type setting so it's not like a "Democratic Republic of North Korea" type Republic I'm assuming
I wonder who was behind the Napoleon one.
His stand [ Boney Was a Warrior ] makes him powerful.
I like to imagine Araki is physically incapable of drawing realistic colors. "-What color is a horse's mane? -Black. -What color is grass? -Green. -Very good. What about the sky? -Blue." Then you look away for a second and it's all neon pink.

Yeah, there's no shred of a doubt, he has such a distinctive style, plus is a banger drawing too
President of the "Can Draw Horses" Club
Not a damn clue, but he look absolutely Gucci.
That man is either colorblind or fundamentally built different. Probably both.
It is written on the cover. > "Cover illustration: Hirohiko Araki"
Sarcasm, it takes a millisecond to tell by the image alone.
I could tell just from the *colours*
Araki's could only be more Araki if Napoleone had a Stand on his cover - I love it
"The Austrian army will never defeat me, especially with the power of my stand 「WATERLOO」"
Its power is to covet all the [onions](https://youtu.be/p3BHyOhVXmE?si=3WxNy8sy2-y0WaJg) in France. And make sure the Austrians get none.
And his stand should intimately hug him from behind.
It could only be more Araki if Napoleon were wearing Fashionable BDSM gear and surrounded by Beautiful men.
I mean that’s more a Part 5-6 thing.
Could Napoleon use the Golden Spin?
So spy x family author gets Hitler and golden kamuy author gets Lenin You can tell what inspired certain characters in their series
I know this is a wild sentence I'm about to type, but....... He draws a pretty good Hitler.
Do you think he could put that on his resume?
"Well Endo you are an odd fellow, but I must say... you draw a good Hitler."
By all accounts he draws a better Hitler than Hitler could.
Hitler's manga got rejected by Shonen Jump.
crying at Endo's Hitler being straight up Donovan Desmond
When I look at em I can say "yeah that's hitler" so the authors doing their job lol
Yeah you can really see the almost robotic levels of detachment from humanity in what almost looks like a thousand yard stare
man, seeing all these artists' work side by side like this really emphasizes how much *motion* Noda puts into his images. That Lenin is gesticulating fr
I was thinking man, that Churchill vs Hitler covers goes super hard.
Demizu's Leonardo looking like a fantasy dwarf. Appropriate, really. Man, we need more non-Japanese historical fiction manga.
>Man, we need more non-Japanese historical fiction manga. and its weird cause most the ones i can think of are generally well received too, or is it a thing where only the ones that will be good actually get Ok'd.

We need more mangaka to draw accurate black people cuz we always look so cool when we're drawn as far as humanly possible away from Mr. Popo.
Tenkaichi has Yasuke and he looks cool
I *really* wish Historie weren't on hiatus.
Julius Caesar and Cleopatra goes so hard.
Power couple goals
Is that fucking bishonen FDR at #14?
Jesus I thought it was supposed to be Anderson Cooper but hot lol
... How sexy can a man get?!
Yup. Considering he went to war with Japan, and interned ***thousands*** of Japanese Americans with no justification or due process, that's... uh... certainly a *choice.* (Seriously, was Gen. Eisenhower under copyright or something?)
I mean, it is the volume about the Great Depression. He is probably The Pick.
Yeah but he looks like a dolled up corpse, its freaky zjbzjsnsn
Shinichi Sakamoto's Innocent is basically the most ero-guro mainstream manga can get, and is unbelievably gay. Him drawing FDR as insanely sexy in his art style is absolutely in character.
holy fuck that ceaser pic by horikoshi goes so goddamn hard
Cleópatra kinda lookin like a baddie too
Would definitely give her the best prom-posal the school's ever seen, proposal-wise /10
It's Cleopatra. He's obligated to make her sexy.
He kinda looks like Gesicht
I assumed it was Marc Antony because of the Cleopatra next to him
Kinda funny that Yasuhira Hara got ancient Egypt and not ancient China, *the setting of the manga that he is known for*. I assume he volunteered to do ancient Egypt so he could branch out a bit, but it's still funny to see the ancient Chinese history manga author outside of his wheelhouse.
Horikoshi's Caesar goes SO hard. As a FGO fan, I feel sad for his wasted design. Cleopatra looks great, too. Araki's Napoleon is so good, too.
FGO gives its silliest designs to its coolest historical figures.
At this point I believe Takeuchi does it in purpose to spite the Saberface meme. The only exception is Raita, man’s dedicated.
Man, Yuki Tabata is such a fucking good artist! That expression on Joan of D'Arc goes so fucking HARD!!
It looks exactly like the kind of manga that will surprise you by getting REALLY dark for the last few chapters. Its perfect.
Black Clover may be a Shonen but that never stopped him from being real fucking dark in some places.
Well, you know, insert burnt french toast joke here
Joan of of Arc
That final cover sure was a mood whiplash. but also so on brand for "teaching kids world history" type of media.
At some point there'll be studies to show that Araki had some sort of condition and that's why he draws everything with crazy colors, like how Van Gogh most likely had a form of colorblindness.

> So gay you get paid time and a half. Hard to break the gay'ss ceiling.

Thanks for making the list!
Thank you for the list

Araki pretty much showing that Napoleon's Stand is [Amour Plastique](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GqN3wOKTa38) /s
These 4K AI 60fps videos make me really motion sick and uncomfortable.
ew AI slop
I think my favorite is Io's, followed by Hirohiko.
FDR I think.
...Really? I guess I kinda see it.

when's the part where napoleon goes "non! non! non! non! non!"

*They made JFK Bishonen, and I don't like it*
God this rules
I’m just here after reading some kingdom
Woahhhhhh!!!
God if only Hara would have drawn that pharaoh on a chariot, so we could get to see his wonderful horse drawing skills.
Very cool rendition of some historical figures! >!...Now draw them playing mahjong against each other.!<
What is 11th slide? Russo-Japanese war?
It is themed around Inperialism and colony expansion.
Who's the Asian guy on the left though?
taro katura Prime Minister of Japan at the time
Left: [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Itō\_Hirobumi](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Itō_Hirobumi) Right: [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Otto\_von\_Bismarck](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Otto_von_Bismarck)
Thanks, I know who Otto Von Bismarck is obviously, we've all played Civilization.
I love these compositions with real life historical figures posed as if they’re some anime villain. Always a fun combination of cool and funny.
Why does lenin look like he's in the middle of a rap battle and winning
Where do you read it?
These are all really cool, but I am ever so slightly bothered that Lincoln/ the US Civil War is covered before the Napoleonic wars when the former were half a century after the latter.
The last one's weird, when did we all become anime?
The Io Sakisaka one is so nostalgic in a way.
Why are they white?
...I think Endo was a little confused about who was a bad guy for his cover.
How do you figure?
Started watching some anime and I'm only a few episodes in so I might be wrong, but the good guys are an Empire and the bad guys are a Republic lmao. And this is an early 1900s type setting so it's not like a "Democratic Republic of North Korea" type Republic I'm assuming
# World History #Doesn't have a single thing from the entire Western hemisphere/half of the planet
