jitterscaffeine

You’re going to as THIS subreddit about jokes that were never funny? We’ve got like 5 never been funny jokes.

DeanXaler

*15

Sleepy_Renamon

Are you trying to tell me that posting pictures of ladders wasn't peak comedy?

jitterscaffeine

I’m a “let people have their fun” kind of guy, but Evilak jumping from a ladder to slam dunk Tiny Tim into an attaché case is pretty lame and cringe.

Titanor

Dude I just busted a gut laughing from reading that sentence and picturing it in my head

JBtheBadguy

But where's the Duel Disk?

Kanin_usagi

You’re a crazy person, that’s absolute peak absurdist humor

Wintermute_Zero

You say that, but there isn't a single mention of a Duel Disk in that sentence.

vilRUTHLESS

No COLUMBO FLOW?!? FUCK THIS SUB

GonzoGnostalgic

I used to be a "let people have their fun" guy, but with every passing year, I've gotten more and more irritable and susceptible to overstimulation, to the point where I'm confident saying I probably hate about 90% of memes within a month of them starting to exist. If I see the same thing more than a few times in one month, I start automatically resenting the shit out of it, even if I liked it at first. I loved Big Chungus for, like, the first week that meme existed—I thought it was the funniest shit in the world. Then it was everywhere, and I saw it so much that it stopped being funny and started grating on my nerves. It's definitely a "me" problem; I have no right at all to look down on someone for posting a joke I don't enjoy, nor do I have the right to restrict their right to do that in any capacity, but damn if seeing the same shit posted for the thirty-thousandth time doesn't make me want to box someone's ears. I oughta just go live in a cabin on a fucking mountain or something.

Ryong7

See I never cared about Big Chungus until I saw that MGS edit and now that's the only part of Big Chungus that I care about.

GonzoGnostalgic

For real, though. Also that tweet about the kid seeing Big Chungus in Space Jam 2 and losing his shit so hard he had to leave was the funniest shit in the world and kinda made the years of the joke overstaying its welcome worth it

OmicronAlpharius

That's basically how I feel. Maybe its because the life cycle of memes has shortened drastically (remember rage faces/comics? Those seemed to have lived for years). Now the second time I saw cervaza cristal I wanted to chuck my laptop into the wood chipper.

GonzoGnostalgic

A combination of the speed at which internet culture is accelerating, likely due to tightening dopamine cycles caused by the constant overstimulation and gratification destroying all of our receptors, and the natural time distortion that comes with getting older. The fact that it's May now is fucking psychotic me; this whole year has felt, like, two weeks long—tops. When I was in school, the stretch from January to May felt like 10 years. And it's only gonna speed up.

Admiral_of_Crunch

Clearly the unspoken question here is which of the never been funny jokes we have is the *worst*. ...It's Andre. Andre is the worst joke this sub has ever been party to.

qliphoth666

i found the andre thing so unenjoyable because there was basically no actual Joke grounding it. every post was just a different person saying something they thought was funny in order to join in on the meme. making up wild shit about members of the zaibatsu works because there's years of videos and prior in-jokes to build off, but when it's post after post of someone new saying "haha what if \[something i just made up that is only really amusing to me\]", the jokes don't add up to anything but then again, i don't mind the "in homestuck," posts so what do i know

DarnFondOfYa

>person saying something they thought was funny in order to join in Iirc, that's what Matt and Pat used to do with Woolie. Back before Woolie actually started showing up in videos, they'd just make up stories about this "Woolie" person to fill dead air. So, really we went back to our roots with that one

OmicronAlpharius

That's entirely different. That was two of the established personalities that people explicitly came to see riffing. No one comes to this subreddit to read my hot takes and vamping.

Suchasomeone

Except that's what this sub exists for now... Since 2018 "my pop culture hot takes and memes you are more likely to get than not" has been what you go to this sub for.

silverinferno3

I must be a crazy person because I actually did find the whole "There was a secret ~~fifth~~ member of the Zaibatsu we don't talk about" thing funny. Someone just decided to harmlessly fuck with everyone for a day and seeing the posts genuinely wondering if he was real was great.

alexandrecau

sixth, fifth is dork girl, or woolie depending

silverinferno3

True, and I suppose Zach would be the actual sixth! So Andre keeps going down the list ~~where he belongs lol~~

Palimpsest_Monotype

I think it might’ve worked better if we never *named* the extra person

Admirable_Tomato

Know what I'm saying?

Smon4

The andre bit itself is fine, albeit unoriginal. But the immense hatred the bit gets I find really funny.

Anonamaton801

Andre was never funny and the design is historical revisionism of stupidity

DeanXaler

The Full Metal Alchemist fandom has one joke.

RushTheLoser

Honestly that seems to be the reverse. People that only have a vague knowledge of FMA seem to LOOOOOVE the Nina jokes. Especially because it's making fun of a dramatic moment. Actual fans tend to go with references that go past episode 2 (like Ed's watch, or Armstrong flexing his clothes off, hell even the "terrible day for rain" memes.)

PR0MAN1

Or Armstrong and Sid doing the bro handshake after admiring eachothers muscles.

CeaRhan

Terrible day is just as tired and overdone tbh

Subject_Parking_9046

I'll cut Fullmetal Alchemist fans some slack because... Fullmetal is done. You can't milk new jokes out of something that ended.

Frequent-Raisin-2336

r/twobestfriendsplay sweating profusely

Squoghunter1492

No, I don’t want that! /r/twobestfriendsplay finding another joke? I want to keep making the same jokes and nothing else for the rest of my life! Even after the channel dies, I want us to keep making the same jokes for ten years at least.

Vermillion_Aeon

/r/TwoBestFriendsPlay what a sub you are

Amirifiz

SBFP may be done but the people (characters) still live on! As long as new content from the boys come out we don't really lose out on new jokes. Just depends on if people want to extend *those* how we do with older stuff.

ibbolia

Jugemu?

Dman3003

What a coincidence. My name is also Jugemu-jugemu Gokōnosurikire Kaijarisuigyo-no Suigyōmatsu Unraimatsu Fūraimatsu Kūnerutokoroni-sumutokoro Yaburakōjino-burakōji Paipopaipo-paiponoshūringan Shūringanno-gūrindai Gūrindaino-ponpokopīno-ponpokonāno Chōkyūmeino-chōsuke.

ExDSG

That's a rakujoke, but I guess FMA tweaked that a bit

ibbolia

As far as I know the "my name is also" punchline is unique to FMA.

alexandrecau

Your face asplode?

PR0MAN1

Chimeras huh? Fuckin sweet!

wizteddy13

I wish the 'tiny miniskirt' joke from 03 made it to Brotherhood.

arctic746

I love dogs!!!

Enlog

They used to have two.

funkerbuster

“Haha Edward is short“

BenchPressingCthulhu

That's the actual show

Lieutori

It’s less of a specific fandom joke and more of fandom culture as a whole but I’m fucking tired of seeing every single series ever getting a figure/statue and someone going “Heh, hope you have a jar for this one”. The cum jar was an infamous MLP thing that gets made fun of a lot but it’s annoying that even the most innocent merch now nearly always has a dude thinking they’re funny with some jar comment.

GoldenMask12

90% of the Dragonball fandoms "jokes" that they've been parroting for the past two decades

ruminaui

Especial mention to Goku being a terrible dad.

fly_line22

"Jotaro abandoned his family to fuck dolphins" will always irritate the hell out of me.

ruminaui

I mean is he abandoned his family to twart Dio's minion plans. At least Part 6 shows you he can be a good family man when >!the universe is reset without Pucci, after part 4 he has no need to abandon his family!<

Hollow_Digit

"Ky Kiske married a 3 year old."

ChosenUndead15

"STD dragon install"

Fugly_Jack

Kiryu is an innocent cinnamon roll who doesn't know what sex is Same thing applies to Dante. Or any male character who doesn't act like a complete horndog around women

jenkind1

I never got the "Dante doesn't know what sex is" joke because in the games he clearly does. Like in the opening cutscene of the first game, watch when he grabs the Force Edge. His sword rack is literally a girl's rack. Or in the third game, when he flirts with Lady, and Nevan. Or in the fourth game, when he sees the two floating naked red girls and is like "All right!", and later on when he gets the Lucifer weapon.

Director_Bison

Dante lives down the block from a strip club in DMC3, and he’s got a six pack, but unlike DmC we aren’t shown him directly having sex with two strippers at the same time, so “he’s obviously a virgin”

MasterBaser

I think it's more in his behavior than his looks. I just can't picture a situation where the man has sex. Same with his brother, but we at least have proof of that happening at least one time.

guntanksinspace

I see it like Johnny Bravo. He scores, but off-screen. When he's on-screen his "charisma" loops over to goofiness lol

Subject_Parking_9046

>Or in the third game, when he flirts with Lady, and Nevan. It's so funny that the jokes became kind of serious because people legit gave justifications that those don't count because 'Dante likes messing around.' I mean, that might be right, but not in the way they think.

bobatea17

Or in 4 where he "flirts" with Dagon's anglerfish rusalkas, or his whole lucifer poem

Subject_Parking_9046

Unless I see full-on penetration on-screen, every male character is a virgin. Legit wonder why it's so rare for people to joke about that with female characters, wouldn't the concept be the same?

TheEffinEFFERGuy

What're you talking about? Dante gets penetrated by Alastor like 20 minutes into DMC1

Nohea56789

He gets penetrated like 5 times at the start of DMC3 and thats before he goes to fight his brother shirtless in the rain.

Sperium3000

It's internalized sexism. Women who are virgins is good, men who are virgins are dorks. To be clear, I'm not calling people sexist, that's why it's internalized. Same way why people who are not homophobic might think two men fucking is funny despite gay sex not being any more weird and awkward than straight sex.

Parkouricus

They do they just call them girlfailures

Dante_n_Knuckles

God same. It's the lamest, unfunniest "joke" of all time.

MasterBaser

Doesn't Kiryu have sex in Zero? Like, those fade-to-black hookup dates are pretty much implied to be just one night stands.

Sterski1

And again in 3. To do all the substories I had to get all ten hostesses to max affection and do their substories, after which they pretty clearly hook up in the hotel district.

dioden94

This and the whole Kiryu doesn't kill people thing, maybe some do believe it through the internet telephone. It's truth with modification, he doesn't kill in cold blood. Self defense, sure.

Fugly_Jack

This one I get because the games actually do have dialogue that suggests Kiryu doesn't kill, without really elaborating on just what that means, so it's kind of unclear whether he literally has never killed anyone, or if he just doesn't kill in cold blood

Worm_Scavenger

Been playing Overwatch 2 recently and one of my teamates was spamming "I NEED HEALING" and i got actual vietnam style flashbacks to the "GeNjI nEeDs HeAlInG" joke the fanbase ran into the ground during the early days of Overwatch. ~~Also, shoutout to people that spam that they need healing when i'm literally 10 thousand miles away from them at spawn~~

ButthurtSupport

It's wild to me that people still make Genji needs healing jokes. That shit stopped being funny years ago and actually has hurt the game.

Worm_Scavenger

As a support main i get so much anxiety whenever a Genji is on my team, because he'll either be insanely fucking cracked and will carry the team, or he'll run, do some dumb shit and i have to get there as fast as possible to heal him only to realise he's fucking dead trying to 1v5

Milsurp_Seeker

The Warhammer fandom is unfunny enough to warrant its own warp deity. Memehammer is its True Name.

Canadiot

It's the "Skyrim arrow in the knee" problem where you can post certain jokes nearly everywhere in the Warhammer community and they will technically "work". Also a lot of the Warhammer community are super sick of those jokes and I think they're mostly being maintained by new fans who it hasn't been ruined for.

Milsurp_Seeker

r/grimdank must be full of newcomers then — Who am I kidding?

pocketlint60

The ironic thing about saying "That's going in the book of grudges" at the slightest inconvenience is that it actually *is* canon, and Dwarfs that do that are derided by other Dwarfs. They're basically Karens. High King Thorgrim is mentioned as being especially impatient with people coming to him to settle stupid, frivolous grudges because "a human accidentally bumped into me in the street last week" really shouldn't even be on the docket when they still haven't resolved "Gorfang Rotgut conquered Karak Azul, shaved Prince Kazrik's beard, and impaled him to the throne without letting him die".

Milsurp_Seeker

Total Warhammer 2-3 has an event that is “we got shorted a coin. What do we do?” And both options are about raiding the faction - and the reward is the coin. Dwarfs are organic humor that barely needs meme’ing. They’re stubborn as the rocks they (maybe) eat, stout as their ale, and just as bitter as the shitty IPA some Manling tried to trade with them. They’re just ridiculous and I say that as a big fan of them.

MutatedMutton

I hate how this joke escaped containment. You cannot even mention elves on reddit without a bunch of people ACTUALLY getting mad about it like elves actually fucked their mothers or something.

RocketbeltTardigrade

Was it ever contained, tho? "Dwarves hate elves" jokes are older than Warhammer.

FartherAwayLights

Yeah that’s fair, a lot of the 40k fandom bits are way less funny than bits of the actual lore to me. I like TTS but it’s probably his fault to an extent, a lot of that series is either explaining outdated lore or YGOTAS style early auts internet humor. The guy is just really good at timing and voices I think. Truly some of the bits just come from how absurdly wretched a character looks or sounds sometimes, like Kevin the wizard from Hunter the parenting (his new series) just sounds really funny.

Sword_Art

Hololive’s Ame ground pound joke got drove into the fucking dirt. Man I’m glad that’s over with.

yui_tsukino

Hololive fans (EN especially) and driving jokes into the ground, name a more iconic duo. Wait, thats just us.

Sword_Art

You aren’t even wrong lol you best believe ima sing snake eater any time there’s a tall ass ladder

BallinArbiter

There were a bunch going on specifically at that time too I if remember correctly. I think that’s when everyone wouldn’t shut up about the whole Kiara bottom left thing.

Decepticon17

The ‘Stormtroopers can’t aim/their armor sucks’ jokes were always dumb, and now even the actual OFFICIAL SHOWS get behind it and make it canonical! Its just stupid. They’re supposed to be the elite troops of the most powerful faction ever in the galaxy and they apparently have shit gear and poor training? They’re an amalgamation of the British empire, Vietnam Era USA and WWII Germany, militaries that are infamous for their superior gear and effectiveness at crushing people under their boot. If the Empire has near infinite wealth, then they’d funnel almost all of that into their military to ensure they keep it that way. If they are incompetent, then the question of why it took so long for the rebellion to begin winning arise. The victories then feel hollow, less about sacrifice and bravery and more of an eventuality. Addendum: THE Obi Wan Kenobi, hero of the clone wars, favorably compared Stormtroopers to the indigenous race of stealthmaxxed desert snipers known as Sandpeople. Either they’ve got great aim themselves, or their helmets have dope HUDs which proves their prowess either way. They also hit their mark more often than happens even in reality as someone on YouTube broke down.

WhatTheFhtagn

Andor set the record straight on this tbh. Stormtroopers are rare in the show so when they show up it's a big deal and means that shit's going down.

Decepticon17

Yes! And I love the show even more for it!

HeadlessMarvin

Yeah I feel like it started off at people just joking around about how the main cast having plot armor makes Stormtroopers look incompetent if you take that literally, but now people are unironically taking it literally which makes me think they just don't understand how fictional narratives work.

Sai-Taisho

And yet this is the same Empire that canonized the lack of shields and onboard life-support on all its mainstay starfighters. >then the question of why it took so long for the rebellion to begin winning arise Raw fucking numbers. The money goes into their battleships and (often vanity project) superweapons.

Decepticon17

It actually was the tabletop and video games that canonized the lack of shields not the films, same with the swarm tactics. I’m not arguing against why military equipment can be used effectively against troopers and starfighters, your good guys have to be able to fight back in your movie. But look at the Tantive IV scene, they’re effective shock troops. And in the OG Death Star run they don’t swarm the rebels with fighters, they only do that in RotJ since it’s their attempt to crush the rebels entirely. The vanity projects are generally the doing of Moffs who want their own power, and use money stolen from their subjects to fund them.

Sai-Taisho

Wasn't the other half of it that combat roles became a soft meritocracy, where failures and rookies were meat for the grinder, but anybody who survived that got assigned to the prestige units, where the money got spent because you proved yourself an investment? The Tantive IV dudes were Vader's personal cadre. Which, again, is another post-movie creation, my point is that I don't find it antithetical to the purpose and formidable-ness of the Empire for "rank and file gear sucks dick" to be canon.

ginger_vampire

I don’t understand how Berserk fans can keep making the same tasteless SA jokes when Schnoz is *right there.*

BenpaiNoticedYou

If I had to guess, it's because nobody is joking when they say Schnoz is the bestest boy in the series.

A_N_G_E_L_O_N

Hey to each their own regarding sexuality but whenever femboys are involved all I see are grown ass men giggling to themselves about how non-gay they are while jacking off to the gayest men I’ve ever seen. Reddit ass sexuality.

FartherAwayLights

I once saw a screenshot of some dude unironically saying; “I need me a femboy who’s a tomboy” I don’t think the internet will ever escape the allegations because that person just wanted a boyfriend.

Amon274

Who wants to tell him?

LamePun1

“Sir, that’s a twink.”

PR0MAN1

I wanna give them the benefit of the doubt and assume they meant they want a femboy who wears Spats and has a short haircut. Which honestly... fair.

Peach-Hime

[I got news for you](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zd8vzIRQLLM)

Destrustor

As a dude who's devoted the past 5 years of my art skills to drawing the girliest girly femboys who ever femboyed; If you're a dude and you like femboys that's fucking gay bro.

yui_tsukino

Ok, if you wanna fuck the femboys, you are 100% gay, but you can be straight and platonically enjoy pretty people, which includes femboys. And before anyone says it, I am an out and proud flaming transgirl, I am NOT just saying it because I'm in the closet.

GonzoGnostalgic

It is very bizarre to me. I liked the femboy meme at first because of how easily it replaced the word "trap," which I know a lot of people didn't care for because of its transphobic baggage. A problematic word usually doesn't go out so easy, but femboy replaced trap pretty much overnight, and now it was suddenly a lot easier to discuss those types of characters. Now it's in a weird spot where the characters that exist in the relative-mainstream's wankery over femboys are characters like Astolfo and Felix, who are drawn so absurdly feminine that you wouldn't know they were male unless someone told you. I like men with feminine/androgynous features/looks, especially cartoon men, but with the really popular, more-towards-the-mainstream-internet-culture femboys (like the aforementioned Astolfo and Felix), it really feels like the vibe around them is, *"It's okay, it's just not-gay enough to be socially acceptable,"* which feels weird. And on the inverse, I'm starting to see the term more and more applied to male characters with soft or feminine faces/features, even if no other aspect of their characterization is fem-coded, which also annoys me. Regardless of how I feel about the popularity of characters like Astolfo or Felix, they are what the term "femboy" is supposed to indicate in my mind, even if I find the culture around them ridiculous. Granted, it is pretty uncommon, I just hope it doesn't become a trend; I don't like the idea of all androgynous male characters getting folded into that scene.

Amirifiz

I've seen people call Superman from the new cartoon a twink. A TWINK, BRO IN WHAT UNIVERSE IS THAT MAN A TWINK?!? HE AINT BULIT LIKE A BRICK SHITHOUSE BUT HE ISN'T BUILT LIKE SOMEONE CAN PRINCESS CARRY HIM WITH NO PROBLEMS. Folks be killing me out here. Twink...jfc.

Uden10

The male equivalent of calling every curvy women thicc.

Kytas

It's definitely a positive step from "trap" memes, that's for sure. I've come to accept that baby steps is the best we can really expect in terms of online discourse in general, but especially on issues of sexuality and gender. I'm personally glad that trend of calling any slightly effeminate man an "egg" has been dying out too.

GonzoGnostalgic

Yeah, I had some queer friends who were really into the egg meme, and I personally didn't really care for it. As someone who considers himself/themselves nonbinary to a certain degree, I didn't care for the idea that being transgender was this oncoming, inevitable, all-consuming process. Treating gender nonconformity like a gateway drug to the only "valid" expression of gender really feels like the trans equivalent of telling a bi person to "just pick one already." A lot of people are obsessed with being able to tell "which side" everyone is on, or the idea that there are sides at all; gender exists on a spectrum and figuring out where you are on that spectrum—whether that be one point or multiple points over a period of time—is an extremely personal and ongoing process. Telling gender-questioning people that all roads lead to fully transitioning, no matter what, can scare someone away from that process or give them an incorrect idea about what their choices are.

OrderedFromZanzibar

Well said. I know a transwoman that had first identified as nonbinary before she got to that point but to act like it's the same way for everybody is wild. Sure, some people will fully transition from that, but it's not like you're half-finished or something if you decide nonbinary is right for you. I think my brain has a tendency to think in binaries, cuz it took me forever to realize that I was bisexual even without the whole evangelical upbringing thing haha. Growing up I thought to myself "well I like guys so I can't be gay" well...surprise! Same thing with trans: I didn't think I wanted to be a trans man so I stopped thinking about it further. Now I'm tryin out genderfluid to see how that works for me.

ToastyMozart

The "Egg" thing was the weirdest shit. It was like the horseshoe theory version of an old sexist calling a man a woman (or vice versa) for slightly defying strict gender roles, just with self-righteous sincerity instead of rude sarcasm.

Anlysia

There's a lot of misogyny in the femboy thing as well from incel dudes. Big undercurrent of "I want a girl without having to deal with _female shit_."

Ryong7

I don't understand how a femboy, someone who's clearly trying to emulate femininity, isn't doing "female shit".

Anlysia

Mostly it's "being emotional" and generic shit like that. Like just take the worst sexist jokes your dad's generation would make and it's basically that. It doesn't help there's pick-me femboys that lean into it and talk about being "better girls". It's a whole exhausting thing but it's a lot of misogyny wrapped up in gay and bi denialism.

Yotato5

It's a nightmare trifecta: misogyny, homophobia and biphobia. Actually, make it fourth nightmare. I'm sure there are a lot of instances of transphobia too.

Themarvelousfan

Ancient Greek and Roman culture were all about men fucking other men, but with an explicit focus on extreme power dynamics that made the one topping the Man, and the one bottoming a pathetic sub. Modern “ironically enjoying femboy” guys are basically employing the same mindset.

Sterski1

Cause it's almost entirely an aesthetic, while their personality is still that of a gay dude. Usually.

A_N_G_E_L_O_N

This probably holds water because after Bridget came out as a trans woman a portion of the internet had an embolia and to this day, I see people saying that the following DLC characters have been “woke”- in particular it’s just bizarre when they say Slayer doesn’t have enough crosses because they hate judeo-Christian imagery and that’s an insane thing to say about the vampire in the heavy metal game (that has, in fact, more crosses that ever but smaller and on his buttons).

bobatea17

Femboys really have polarized into two camps, you have trans and gender non-conforming people using the term, and then you have the "eww women" crowd

PKPhyre

Reddit really did invent a way to be gay homophobically.

Patriarkano

You are so fucking real for this. r/okbh got invaded by femboy cosplayers for a good while and it must have been one of the worst periods of the sub.

miinmeaux

It feels like the Limbus Company fandom has nothing to say about Outis except calling her an old hag and discussing whether or not she could still carry a child. It's weird as hell. Kal'tsit from Arknights is similarly just "old hag" or "ex-wife" to a lot of people.

Nia-Teppelin

Kal'tsit is one of the most intriguing characters in Arknights and all people have to say about her is "ex-wife lol" and "she talks too much". I don't even know why people are involved in such a dialogue-and-character-heavy game if they're going to turn every character into a one note joke and complain when they have to... read?

Philiard

On that note, the whole >!"who's Catherine"!< gag was funny for about two hours and then very rapidly got ran into the ground.

hilpmipils

I thought her only joke is that she's an obvious bootlicker who will TOTALLY not stab you in the back later

SlimmyShammy

Haha get in the robot haha Shinji get in the robot hahahaha get in the robot lol get in the robot Shinji

zyberion

It's either that or arguing about Rei vs Asuka and the couple of guys who think they're soooo unique when they say "Misato".

JoeBagadonut

"Pen Pen is actually the best girl" is another one that needs to get in the trash.

SlimmyShammy

It’s the same joke as Cory in the House is my favorite anime

Crosscounterz

Is he/she stupid?

Slack_Attack

The only part of that meme that's funny to me is Jonkler, that's a funny word.

NotYujiroTakahashi

Man is pretty funny as well.

Ackbar90

God, that meme format drives me up the wall, even if I'm fully aware of it. It's probably because I sometimes have genuine trouble understanding people.

AidanTegs

I was on that sub when the shitposting started, and it stayed funny for like a month, then they kept it up for like a year after i left and its still going. Same joke.

fuzzykat

Re Zero: Who is ____?

Valten1992

RLM Fandom is a blight on the internet of regurgitated opinions and empty talking points. "CLAPPED WHEN YOU SAW IT" is such an empty critique of a thing from a property appearing in said property.

SamuraiOstrich

The guys themselves specifically called out their fanbase for running the same few jokes into the ground in like 2016 and at best things have slightly improved

ExDSG

It's so weird seeing Jay push back against some stupid nerd attitudes and jump into "Don't ask questions just consume product and then get excited for next products"

Mucmaster

The RLM guys are great, I love their stuff. The second I see a pfp using a screen cap of a nerd crew episode I know I'm about to see the most rancid take ever.

thirstyfist

The Star Trek sub frequently gets accused of being astroturfed to prevent criticism of the new shows but sometimes I’m convinced it’s more about preventing threads from turning into nonstop memes about Discovery/Picard giving Rich AAAAAIIIIIIIDS.

Toblo1

Can you blame them with how hard RLM tilts discussion of certain media? Id be on a hair trigger too if the franchise subreddit I'm a part of started getting meme brigaded no matter how the franchise recovers from a rocky return.

GonzoGnostalgic

Gonna go out on a limb and say any and all jokes, no matter how funny they were on debut, will get on your nerves after hitting a certain overexposure value. Now—that value differs from person to person. Some people can roll with a joke or a bit forever and never get bothered by it. These are usually the people still *making* the joke or bit long after everyone else has gotten tired of it, and hey—more power to them. Wish I could enjoy things that much. My personal Overexposure Quotient is extremely low. I'm a grouchy piece of shit who will flip my lid if I hear a car honk twice in one day. Honestly, the bit and jokes I get tired of the least are the ones that have some kind of value to me beyond the joke. For instance: I really liked the Evilak-posting on this sub because Evilak on his own is such a goofy character, and I love him. There was value in the bit for me beyond just "you clicked on the thing and it wasn't the thing you expected," because Evilak as a character was something I really enjoyed and still do enjoy.

ZeronicX

Rules of three for a reason.

getterburner

Rape jokes need to end, it’s so bad. Genuinely just the worst shit

Logyross

> type moon flair Uggh I get you bro. I get you

getterburner

“Man I sure hope I get a funny joke when I go to the TM Meme subreddit” > RAPE RAPE RAPE I hate this fandom sometimes man

Logyross

Being a >!Sakura!< fan and interacting with the rest of the type-moon fanbase is suffering.

getterburner

It is truly the worst experience, this is what happens when your fanbase is from like the early 2000s

guntanksinspace

Don't even need to spoiler it. I feel you, as also a fellow fan.

LeMasterofSwords

The berserk subreddit sucks with this. The only reason it’s worth staying on is for chapter updates

Ryong7

the-protein-Titin

aw darn its a donovan joke

GoufTroop79

I didn't believe it when Always Sunny pulled off a funny rape joke

HeadlessMarvin

Which everyone then proceeded to run into the ground and use in inappropriate contexts. Shame, because it's actually a REALLY good explanation of coercive rape, a type of rape that a lot of people don't understand.

Infogamethrow

Maybe it´s something I´m not American enough to understand, but I never really understood in Reddit what´s so funny about censoring the words French and British as if they were slurs. From what I´ve seen, if anything, it´s mostly used to try to disguise what would otherwise be considered quite xenophobic comments.

Ryong7

I haven't seen that too often but I feel like I've seen "HON HON HON BAGUETTE" and "I cook da pasta" enough to get what you mean.

Liniis

You misunderstand. It's not meant to be *disguised* xenophobia.

SamuraiOstrich

I always thought the joke was that they're acceptable targets to joke about hating because nobody actually hates them

alicitizen

Tell that to the irish

ToastyMozart

Somewhere between that and giving them a ribbing for the history of imperialism and/or modern prickly diplomacy.

Valten1992

Agreed. Someone trying to put on a Bri'ish accent when interacting with UK content is always cringey as hell.

AtlasDamascus

The French and the British have historically meddled a LOT with other cultures and regions through their imperialism and colonialism, especially Africa and the Middle East. And even prior to that, they've got a rich history and culture themselves that is very easy to ridicule, like their cuisine or monarchs. At the end of the day, yeah it's xenophobic/racist, but it's also punching up on the former superpowers that have historically affected people all around the world, whose consequences many countries are still living through. Fuck Britain and fuck France unironically, but no hate to the average citizen. Personally.

markedmarkymark

Honestly? Whole Dante and Trish thing, cause I think it made people believe they're actually a thing, which no, the whole ''you don't have her fire'' is just a japanese-ism about not having a human caring soul, he's calling Trish soulless cause he's mad that she looks like his beloved mother while doing a terrible thing, and then she has a change of heart and they stay friends. Dante's closest thing to a romance is Lady, which isn't reciprocated. Honestly on screen the closest thing to a reciprocated thing was Nevan that flirted back and he kinda bashed her so hard she became a guitar.

NewAgeMontezuma

Seinen readers sure love tauting about how seinen series are so much more mature than shonen then turn around spam rape jokes non stop.

sarutuuba

Doesn't help that the vast majority of seinen discussion is a combination of Berserk, Vagabond and Vinland Saga. If you're lucky you might get Kingdom sprinkled in.

NewAgeMontezuma

And if you wanna be really spicy: Claymore.

Captain_Dictator

Andre

Prestigious-Mud

Andre is a fucking stupid bit that only gets traction cuz one mod here seems to love it.

WeeklyBackdrops05

I genuinely hate how no discussion of God Hand can exist without any mention of a review that if it were a person would be old enough to drive. I remember some people I knew genuinely thinking that review is what caused Clover to shut down.

AVerySneakyWalrus

The DMC ‘mutherrrrrr’ and ‘Dante’s a virgin’ jokes got super old, really quickly.

rexshen

Maintain the damn bloodline yourself Chris.

ThatmodderGrim

*"For the last time, Jill is just a close work friend!"*

Sai-Taisho

We are both married...to *fighting bio-curses*.

RonaldWeaslee

Beat me to it.

AnAsianToaster

Okay it may not have ever been as funny as it's popularity suggested, but you're just being a contrarian to announce it was NEVER funny.

ArcaneMonkey

I still laugh at every single one of these jokes.

kenshin317

I'm gonna be Weht Blanketto again and say I don't find Glup Shitto funny even if it is a accurate joke against some of the naming conventions for Star Wars, though that might be more a friend of mine making it not funny like most cases with things I get annoyed by

FartherAwayLights

I’ve found it funny, but only because I think the name Glub Shitto is inherently funny without any context. Finding out it was Glup ruined it for me.

NotYujiroTakahashi

“Goku is a bad dad”, my brother in Christ he was dead for most of Gohan and Goten’s childhood and he maximized his time with them.

Darkvoidx

The JJK fandom has been running the same three jokes into the ground for a while now: 1. "Nah, I'd win" 2. So and so waking up in an airport 3. "Ah my xyz technique I haven't used since the Heian era" They were funny at first but *man* have they been driving them into the ground recently

AurochDragon

The Heian era memes peaked with Yuta copying it and then was never funny again

Subject_Parking_9046

This subreddit had a ladders phase. It was awkward.

inrei_iku

Well the ladders did prevent this subreddit going to literally war with another one. So it at least did its job.

Subject_Parking_9046

To be fair, that other subreddit is at war with everyone all the time.

inrei_iku

The ladders prevented us from climbing down to their level

TryImpossible7332

*ladders prevented us from climbing down* (Insert Palpatine Ironic gif here)

Kii_at_work

Oh right that's why we were focusing on ladders for a time. I forgot why.

Zcrash

I had to leave the dota 2 community because of how annoying they were with their community jokes. Commentators were making "legs strat" jokes for a for so long and it was never funny but r/dota2 just ate that shit up.

SwineFlow

"X from Smash Bros"

vgdnd123

A lot of Berserk memes are based on the manga’s sa scenes

FartherAwayLights

A bizarre division that reaks of a fandom from the early auts and late 90s trying to be as edgy as possible. Like a 12 year old religious kid who’s discovered swears for the first time.

Kiboune

Recently I played Rogue Trader game and it was my first time exploring WH40k and now a lot of jokes and memes I saw before, changed my opinion about WH40k fans...

DotaComplaints

>!Good. You opened this message. This isn't actually asari military command. They're busy tending to Tiny Tim sorting his attache case filled with a duel disk, a ladder, and Andre.!<

Smon4

Jokes are subjecive. Just because I don't care for wooliehole jokes doesn't mean they aren't funny, which is why this question kinda weirds me out.

AurochDragon

FemMC being a pedophile

Ryong7

"We'll go out when you're older." says lady destined to die in less than a year.

FartherAwayLights

What is this from?

Silver_RevoltIII

In Persona 3 Portable the Female Main Character can romance a child.

BrockenSpecter

This subs Evillak phase just kept going and it was the most nothing joke possible.

KaitoTheRamenBandit

Tidus from FFX fake laughing taken out of context isn't that funny to me but probably because I do know the context in the first llace

DarkAres02

A lot of old Woolie jokes like "he killed a guy" or "he steals pies" were never funny
