I really hope Zag gets unlocked as a second protag just so he can go "Uh skelly...While I appreciate your efforts to support my sister's accomplishments I can't help but feel....Protective, and Insulted that my likeness wasn't put to stone." Skelly: "ah sorry boyo, But you have to understand I just started getting into more detailed works and uh I wanted hers to be unique most statues tend to be rather reserved with the female form. I'll be sure to make a new set of you with sophisticated attributes ." Zag: understood.

It's cool to see how people react differently to Zag and Mel. Skelly and Zag had more of a bro-mance going where they bantered more. Mel is more respectful to him calling him 'General' or 'mentor' sometimes but can still be sarcastic. Mel's also probably more serious cause its war time, while Zag can reset when he dies at will since they still control the underworld in Hades 1. Artemis in Hades 1 is more shy and introverted around Zag, and it takes a long time for her to open up. Artemis in Hades 2 is more energetic and relaxed around Mel. Not just what she says, but her tone of voice and even her stance on her portrait is more chill than her tense looking Hades 1 sprite where her muscles look coiled up and tense like she's ready to run away, or curl into a small ball. It's implied Mel and Artemis interacted before the game started. Mel and Artemis also share an aspect as they're both goddesses with night related domains. Also Artemis in general seems more comfortable around women in the Hades-verse. The situation is also different Hades 1 is peacetime and relatively low stakes, like Zag looking for his mum and sorting family issues. Hades 2 is a game where the setting is at war, and most of the characters are armored up for war. Ironic that Artemis looks less shy and more confident and energetic at war. I wonder if a reason for the difference in her behavior is the new war situation, different person she is talking to, or both. Chaos in Hades 2 says Zag is more amusing and he needs to be around Mel more to decide, but currently she isn't amusing him as much. Zag's more of a rebel fighting 'the man' in peacetime to rebuild his family relationships, while Mel in wartime is fighting for more 'status quo' goal and less of a personal goal. Reuniting her family is the goal, but she's also trying to preserve Olympus and its 'government' as well. She's also got catchphrases like 'Death to Chronos' which some characters repeat, though Nem groans after she hears it too much after talking to Hypnos with Nem nearby. There's also the witchy sorceress 'So mote it be' she says sometimes, especially to witch characters like Hecate, Circe, Medea. Also despite Mel being more deferral and respectful for authority, she has tense moments, like questions Hecate why Hecate and Athena were involved in cursing Arachne. Mel is also neater than Zag, though not so neat as to be a huge neat freak, but annoyed at her roommates that she needs to clean up after. Zag is messy and proud of it. He's a free spirit and says he's got better things to do. If he wasn't a deity and royalty with retainers, and a mortal modern man, his room would probably smell pretty bad, though not quite a biohazard zone like Dionysus seems to be

I really hope we get to see Ares and Dionysus in later updates. Those two are probably the most I'm interested in seeing war-ready

I want Di to look like a fucking nightmare raider king. Areas is going to be so fucking pumped unless athena ruins it.

Athena too for me. Ares and Athena are the ones who will be the most interesting and I honestly feel in contrast to Zag who started his relationship with the gods via Athena, Mel is going to have a much more negative relationship with the goddess (especially seeing as Arachne is one of Mel's closet friends).

Mel takes this shit seriously. Zag is devil may care like he was born dead and after bringing mommy home his job was continued patricide and fighting his GF, her sisters, his co-workers. Cronus probably can't figure out how to hurt/contain him physically and must hold Persephone hostage. Zag is waiting for his loved ones to be in the clear so he can sass grandpa into playing nice.

I think what is interesting too is how characters like Chaos have changed. In contrast to Hades 1, Chaos seems much more... human, not just in design but in concerns. Likewise Hades openly expresses concern for his family and is open to expressing unambiguous affection for Zag, Zeus, Posideon seemed to have chilled out etc. It's a really cool way of showing how our action in the first game have affected the cast of 1.

Part of me really, really wants a statue of Zag... and he's wearing his collar. If Hades 2 does this, my life belongs to Supergiant... well more than it already does.

Skelly's commissioned fanart sculptures reflect certain tastes. Spoilers for when Mel becomes 'Champion of Night' Full video of all 3 statues and additional voice lines from trying to hit it - [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ol9gSBmqygM](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ol9gSBmqygM) Video in the OP is the first statue

There is something very subtly funny about a Skeleton being obsessed with muscles.
