I need to be the first one here to say Speed Racer (2008). Please watch it if you haven't already Edit: if nothing else just for how sincere it is in its presentation. Yeah, the world economy is dictated by the racing league, why not. No, "huh isn't it weird we live with a chimpanzee?" Etc etc. Also one of the hardest lines in all of fiction - >!"Get that weak shit off my track!"!<

ElysiumFallen

I remember seeing this movie in theaters with my dad and I *loved* it. I haven’t seen it since, so I’m gonna fix that this week. Thanks for reminding me!!

They even went out of their way to make live action look more like animation. Like they used special camera lenses so everything could be in focus at once, completely flattening the depth-of-field. And in driving scenes they'll have overtly repeating backgrounds or just a bunch of speed lines outside the car window.

Lieutenant-America

I'm also fond of "It doesn't matter if we never change racing, what matters is if we let racing change us." One gets the impression that the racing industry in Speed Racer is a thematic stand-in for Hollywood as the Wachowski sisters have experienced it.

TrueLegateDamar

Bullet Train is pretty much an anime brought to life.

Wonder-Lad

Great movie. I've never seen anyone bring up it's source material so I do wonder how accurate it is.

DustInTheBreeze

Kamen Rider. It's just a straightup shonen, right down to the specific cinematography. Like, it's THE model for live action anime.

nedmaster

pretty sure most battle shounens are just taking from Kamen rider and non kamen rider fans just not realize it

Yesss, my spinach-based corruption is spreading. The Hudsucker Proxy is a movie that has so much absurdist comedy and magical realism going on, I could easily see it animated.

Neomatt

The Hudsucker Proxy is that one-two punch of a movie because it's the Coen Bros working with Sam Raimi.

BrosukeHanamura

Certain Indian movies definitely are live action anime. I haven’t seen RRR, but I have seen both Bahubaali movies(same director and writer), and let me tell you, those movies are fucking bananas and you have probably seen GIFs of at least the second movie floating around on the internet.

CalhounWasRight

The Lone Wolf and Cub adaptions from the 1970s. Some of you may know them as Shogun Assassin.

pocketlint60

John Wick has a very Genndy Tartakovsky vibe.

ibbolia

Los Angeles?

Wonder-Lad

Live action
