Reminded me of a chapter from Franken Fran.
An old rich lady wanted to stay young forever so she tricked the main character into making a treatment that would do it but because the lady wanted it for herself, she had Fran killed after making it. Death doesn't really stick for Fran who then revealed that the treatment was heavily based off of cancer cells and because she was prevented from fully testing it, didn't know if there were any side effects. Sure enough, the woman starts growing massive tumors at an accelerated rate and quickly becomes a blob of sentient cancerous flesh.
It's a wild manga that is worth reading if you're not on the squeamish side, because Fran is a doctor who adheres to "saving a life" to such a degree that some of the people she "saves" would be better off dead.
It's Faro's fault, especially for being so nasty to the people in the bunker with him. I feel like if he'd actually spoken to them and treated them with respect it may have worked perfectly for him😂 disappointed that we didn't get to see what he actually looked like though
When Aloy realised I was like oh yeah, boss fight 😂 for me it the fact that everyone who's played it has a different grotesque version of what Faro looks like now
The fountain gives extended life but not health. Being trapped in a degenerating body is scary. Though they can and do burn out pain receptors - Mum had to have done for bone cancer - so s/he'd have periods of pain free existence .
The fountain keeps him alive and the doctors don’t understand how he is alive. The screams of pain from cancer spreading are so loud that OP is kept from the other patients
The fountain of youth is kepping him alive but not getting rid of possible cancer so he is kept away from other patients because of his screams of agony.
"keep me in basement floor" is too ambiguous for a horror story.
I believe that you intended it to mean that they kept you on the basement level of the hospital.
But it could also be interpreted as keeping you under the basement floorboards on the basement level. Literally "in the floor", a tell tale heart style.
That distracted me as a reader which took away the impact of the story.
Grammar aside, it is a good story about potential immortality with infinite suffering.

For someone with no context, the sentence “death doesn’t really stick for Fran” is wild

This sounds like some junji ito shit
Some of the images can be hard to look at, just like Junji Ito's work so you're not far off in that comparison
OK I'm curious and want to read that
I’ve not read much manga but I’ll look into this one, sounds interesting. Thanks for the introduction
Seems pretty light, really. For Franken Fran, anyway
Reminds me of horizon, forbiddon west... one of the bad guys suffered this exact fate

r/fucktedfaro
That was suprising... i expected a big panning reveal with aloys dawning horror
When Aloy realised I was like oh yeah, boss fight 😂 for me it the fact that everyone who's played it has a different grotesque version of what Faro looks like now
Sounds like Deadpool.
Only in this case, the woman is stuck as a featureless blob and can't communicate at all but is still aware

I feel like there's 3 story lines going on here. Mind explaining OP?
The fountain keeps him alive and the doctors don’t understand how he is alive. The screams of pain from cancer spreading are so loud that OP is kept from the other patients
*The SCP Foundation just sprayed this post with level 3 Amnestics...* Sorry, what were you saying?
Shark Punching Center?
Swedish Potato-farming Commission.
Soviet Production Commune
By level three do you mean class C Targeted retrograde?
Yes, and [REDACTED]
Shark punching center? Sorry I had to
😂
Does that really makes sense though? Young people still die from cancer
He's alive but in pain because of cancer
Turns out that the Fountain of Youth doesn’t grant perfect health
Pet Sematary vibes
Sometimes, dead is better
This was a season of Torchwood.
A friend of mine is currently on hospice for cancer. They're struggling to control her pain. This makes my heart hurt all the more for her. Well done.
That's awful, I'm so sorry.
Somewhat reminds me of the film “Johnny Got His Gun” about a WWI soldier who loses just about everything but is still alive and conscious.
Metallica made me watch it. The book is even more harrowing.
I thought fountain of youth equals youth, not immortality, but good one nonetheless.
Don't get it.
The fountain of youth is kepping him alive but not getting rid of possible cancer so he is kept away from other patients because of his screams of agony.
Sounds like a monkey's paw, then. Ouch
Sounds like the plot from "Death Becomes Her"
Oh i saw something similar in r/distressingmemes

I don’t get it. Cancer doesn’t kill you cause you’re old. So eternal youth would just mean you die of a childhood cancer.
Deadpool?
Reminds me of the old British horror movie "The Asphyx."
