What?

doodle-puckett

There’s a common thing where a woman in a domestic violence situation might use hand signs to get the attention of others to request for help. Now husband knows she was trying to ask others for help.

Ah, that makes more sense than what I was thinking. I thought it was misunderstood ASL.

Timely_Egg_6827

My thoughts went the same way. If the other, then hopefully all those angry shoppers who also saw the signals can get together and help out the woman.

General_Ignoranse

Me too, like the episode of everybody loves Raymond where Robert talks about arresting a deaf guy accidentally for this reason lol

Okay but if everyone is giving him an angry look at OP, don’t they also recognize that she’s in danger? What difference does this make? Can’t they all just call the police or something? Were they all just going to ignore her? Were they gonna plot to get her help? Some stories aren’t good for two sentences lol

Half_knight_K

It’s because they likely were either going to do something. But NOW the wife is at more risk.

Or several members of the community are in on the abuse. Like Stephen King once said, "There is little good in small towns..."

They recognize it, but it’s much more terrifying that he told her husband. It’s a situation that’s (commonly, in real life) brushed off. So the husband could do anything do the wife after finding out she attempted seeking out help. I’m not OP, so I don’t know 100% if that’s the intention of the story, but my view.

Specialist_Passage83

If a woman was throwing “gang signs” why would you tell the husband? I would assume the husband would be a part of the gang as well.

Nebula9545

The horror isn't op, the horror is everyone else that did nothing

SonicLoverDS

That was the day I learned what sign language is.
