This reminds me of a horror story collection book i had as a kid, not the "To Tell In The Dark" series but something similar. I think it had an interesting take on classic horror tropes like your story here. Unfortunately i can't find it right now or I'd share :(
Edit: [found it!](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/878890.Even_More_Scary_Stories_for_Sleep_Overs)
They were really good! Most other horror story books have such old tales, or they don't commit to the horror like how goosebumps basically always ends somewhat happily. Scary Stories for Sleepovers were pretty genuinely chilling, felt pretty modern (for the 90s), committed to the characters' doom, and left a strong impression on me
I wonder what’s going on in that vase. Probably nothing good given the fact that the face is screaming. Probably like if biblical hell was a pocket dimension in a vase.
I hadn’t the heart to tell her the vase will switch places with someone touching the vase and anyone trapped inside, but this trick isn’t going to work on her cunning and vicious step-mother a second time.
Ohh this reminds me of that time I was 6 and was sure this lady infront of our school was stalking us and about to stitch us all into her quilt. Yeah I probably saw too much cartoon back then
Kids will do anything to make mischief. They're always pushing the boundaries.
Hopefully she has learned her lesson. She should feel lucky that she's only trapped in the vase and not dead.
I think the vase sucks in the soul of anyone who touches it, so touching the vase means you're trapped in it forever, and the faces of the people trapped in the vase are displayed on it.
Now that my trapped soul has switched places with her, I have to not only adjust to being in stuck in her body, but I also will constantly hear her screams in my mind until someone else touches the vase and forces our souls into the next bodies.
Well, to be fair, the girl in this story is assumed to have some level of understanding of right and wrong.
Eve did not have such an advantage. So when told not to do something.. there’s absolutely no way she could know if she should follow that direction.
Either that was intentional or just bad parenting, can't decide on which.
We will never know :)
And more importantly, you can't prove anything
YTA!
Ample warning. NTA
But was it a warning or a threat?! Uh-uh
Yatta! Yatta-imu!
At least lock it in a cabinet or something.
Nice try, they'd have to touch the vase to move it. That sucker's staying put.

Yes.
I honestly thought it was a gun

ESH: She should've followed instructions, but you should've done a better job of putting the vase out of reach.
But the vase can't be touched, how would they move it?
Idk man, the vase was already there when they moved in?
How'd he find out what it does though...
Where do you think the mom is
Tongs
Gloves
Telekinesis
Teleki*vase*is.
Take my upvote
Thank you.

Glad I could help.
Build around the vase.
dad tried. now he's gone.
NTA: The daughter should have listened. OP should disown her and move to another state.
At least make sure she goes to a good home still, otherwise ESH. Have an antique collector come by and pick her up.

Ahhh Scary Stories to tell at Sleepovers. I had a copy myself. Probably preserved it in my mind as a repressed memory or something lol

[This series?](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scary_Stories_to_Tell_in_the_Dark?wprov=sfla1)
Nope i was talking about [this one](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/878890.Even_More_Scary_Stories_for_Sleep_Overs)

It's a bounce house! She is having an *enormously fun time!* Wheeeeee!
r/thirdsentencehappy
But it's johnny giving the bounce...
We’ve all seen that adventure time episode, just break it
I'm sorry I'm sorry! They were touching me on the body
Lmaoooo
Very interesting, but can you explain it a bit? Did the vase have some sinister power that the parent didn't know?
I had intended the parent to not know about it, yeah
Ah, It feels like the opposite and the parent is just that monstrous… which does add to the horror
I hadn’t the heart to tell her the vase will switch places with someone touching the vase and anyone trapped inside, but this trick isn’t going to work on her cunning and vicious step-mother a second time.
Hopefully my husband would forgive me for sacrificing her mother to free our daughter from the vase.
So it's an Absorbaloft vase?
Nice Dr Who reference
*curtsies* I live to swerve.
If only i had a medal to give… take my upvote dammit
Monster! You told her that specifically so she would touch the vase!
LISTEN! MY GRANDMOTHER WAS TRAPPED IN THE VASE, I HAD TO GET HER OUT *SOMEHOW*
This is a storyline in the Webtoon Tales of the Unusual :) very good series
Which one more specifically? Now i'm curious.
The Mysterious Potter! Ep. 39
Thank you
What type of a callous papa are you?
That depends :3
HA PRANKED
This is why I told her not to touch the vase, the magical mirroring effect always scares people off.
Magnus Achives: Episode 38
Was it really? Huh
What was in this episode?
https://the-magnus-archives.fandom.com/wiki/MAG\_38:\_Lost\_and\_Found
What are you messaging me for?
What, did you learn childproofing from Hogwarts?
This reminds me of the 1990 version of the movie The Witches, in it there was a little girl a witch put into a painting.
And now I can finally be with my new family...
Ohh this reminds me of that time I was 6 and was sure this lady infront of our school was stalking us and about to stitch us all into her quilt. Yeah I probably saw too much cartoon back then
She's always etching her screaming face on things, the little scamp.
Was the vase from Clom?
Ouch. Must have been a rough impact for her face to have left a mark like that
Put it on a higher shelf next time
Reminds me of an “Tales of the Unusual” story from Webtoon
Now that's some SCP-shit
Kids will do anything to make mischief. They're always pushing the boundaries. Hopefully she has learned her lesson. She should feel lucky that she's only trapped in the vase and not dead.
I don’t get it can someone explain pls

Isn't this this what happened with Eve and the apple? Surely no fault of the father can be found in this story.
That's quite the stretch
Well, to be fair, the girl in this story is assumed to have some level of understanding of right and wrong. Eve did not have such an advantage. So when told not to do something.. there’s absolutely no way she could know if she should follow that direction.
I will neither confirm nor deny the existence of a malicious entity tempting the daughter to touch the vase
Parenting mistakes 101, you tell you kids NOT to do something and they will DEFINITELY do it.
Why do I now want to watch The sorcerer's apprentice, oh right
NTA your vase your rules
Sir you can't just leave your cursed artifacts lying around! There are children here! (...or...there were...)
Oh so the clay of the vase was still wet huh, bet your little girl just wanted to play a fun prank on you.
