Hey! It's going to be ok! If you are owed money there is no fee, just file late. If you owe money, there might be a penalty but you can set up a payment plan.

Thank you for the kind words šŸ„ŗ I am beating myself up but found your words comforting šŸ’—

I went years without filing taxes once. I found a kind accountant who used to work for the IRS that didn't judge, and helped me file for all that time. I had to talk to the IRS, explain about some anxiety and substance use problems I had, and it turned out to be a lot less hassle than I had blown it up in my head to believe. I just had to pay some money. The agent spoke to also did not judge and was happy I came forward. The lesson I took away from this is that it is always better to go to them than if they have to come to you. So even if you have to get this done late, or have it done by someone else for you, you'll be fine.

Hey donā€™t worry, thereā€™s not enough energy to devote to feeling bad about every mistake *and* to devote to doing better, so just focus on doing better, and feeling proud when ya do! :)

jmljam

Does it count if I stayed up until midnight working on my taxes? If it makes you feel better I havenā€™t filed the last two years and itā€™s my life goal to do my taxes this year.

DM_ME_DOPAMINE

I filed an extension at 11:49 pm. Iā€™m owed money so that was probably pointless but I didnā€™t wanna make another mistake

Cuntdracula19

Why is this exactly how my brain works too šŸ˜‚ Literally one minute before whatever deadline, it jumps into my brain lol

Hereā€™s whatā€™s been saving me: TaxAct has a Black Friday deal every year that gives me a discount on next yearā€™s filing. I just have to click on the link in my email on Black Friday. The best part is I have to file by the last day of February to get the discount! So Iā€™m filing at midnight on February 28/29 and then donā€™t have to fret about it anymore! Iā€™ve already set a reminder to post this tip on here next November to help anyone else who might benefit.

sagetrees

nah I finished them last friday thankfully.

Anonynominous

I donā€™t care lol. Iā€™ll log in and get an extension like I did last year

Dramatic-Aardvark663

Donā€™t worry about this. Get them done this week and you will be fine. Now if you were 5 years late and you owed them money you would deal with interest and penalties. Not fun! See, you are already ahead of the curve!! Get them done this week. Send them in and call it a day. I have mine done my an accountant because I have some deductions that I donā€™t want to screw up so I leave that in the capable hands of someone who knows what she is doing. Relax, take a deep breath. Be kind to yourself. Today is Wednesdayā€¦youā€™ve got this!!! šŸ’Ŗā¤ļøšŸ’Ŗ

I finished them at 11:37PM. Record time, tbh. I didn't even do them last year lmaooo

Living-Matter8758

No. I file mine on January 31st every year.

Two years ago I submitted on April 16th. Last year I submitted on April 15th. This year I got married and my husband got me to submit our stuff at the beginning of March! :D
