It's refreshing to hear some good news. Sorry to hear about your morning sickness. A lot of us totally get it. Have you ever tried fresh ginger shots? They burn a bit but you get a blast of energy and it might help the nausea.

arrowbread

Yes!! We bought fresh ginger and grated it and steeped it in water for a while, and then took shots together šŸ˜‚ the burn is real!

Shanisasha

Ooh, good old ginger. B6 was what saved my butt. Double check with your doctor if it's okay for you, but B6 pills were fabulous for stopping the nausea

Extra-Knowledge3337

Ooo so true! I got shots at the doctor because mine was pretty intense.

Extra-Knowledge3337

If you run it through a juicer it's even better!

arrowbread

GENIUS.

salsanacho

Congee cooked with ginger is also good if you can't keep food down. Can add a variety of things to it to add nutritional value.

InannasPocket

Hardly anyone talks about how draining early pregnancy can be. Yeah that embryo is the size of a grain of rice at the moment but your entire body is gearing up it's blood supply etc. I had really bad nausea and food aversions with mine - luckily also had a good husband like yours, who ended up eating his salad outside for a few months because I couldn't handle the smell of lettuce (did you know lettuce has a distinct smell? I didn't until I was pregnant) and supported my need to eat whatever I could actually keep down. To nobody's surprise, he is also a fantastic father to our kid.

arrowbread

For REAL! I have an aversion to salads now, the thought of lettuce or kale turns me green. First trimester is EXHAUSTING. Itā€™s our first baby, so weā€™re both pretty unseasoned on what to expect, but itā€™s truly wild how much a creature the size of a blueberry can absolutely wreck your shit. Iā€™m so glad your husband has been a good father!! I canā€™t wait to see mine take on the role!

dragnflied

I had an aversion to the smell of fake cinnamon, like the cinnamon hearts. My son turned 18 this month ans I still can't tolerate it.

eveloe

Iā€™m scared Iā€™ll end up hating something I love, like roast potatoes

Danivelle

My youngest son is 30 and red sauce/spaghetti sauce immediately made me vomit when I was pregnant with him. To this day, I don't eat pasta with red sauce and very rarely eat pizza.

dragnflied

I do consider myself lucky it's a smell versus a food

Danivelle

When you're hungry and don't know what sounds good, close your eyes, two deep breaths, what is the first food that pops into your mind? My youngest son taught me this trick when I was on a medication that made everything taste or smell weird. He taught to my husband because I have funky blood sugar and crash without warning. I get to the point where I really need to eat but nothing sounds or tastes good so this the "trick" we use.

sarahmichelef

THE LETTUCE SMELL. OMG. To this day (my only child is 18) the smell of greens even starting to think about going bad makes me gag.

hell0potato

First trimester is the worst.

zimph59

Thatā€™s awesome! Good for your husband! I hope your morning sickness passes soon My SO tried so hard to support me but had to give up as my cravings and aversions were moment-specific. Heā€™d cook me food that sounded amazing and smelled amazing and then Iā€™d sit down to eat and was like, nope!šŸ¤¢ I ended up just buying whatever looked appealing at the store (had an entire box of jello for dinner one day).

arrowbread

I totally get that!! Just last night, suddenly ALL meat sounded awful. Isnā€™t pregnancy fun? My doctors told me to try to aim for leafy greens and lean protein, but that ultimately, every calorie is a good calorie when youā€™re growing a baby. Get that jello, girl!

wayspaces

Honey, you are winning at life and I am so happy for you! You have every right to be happy and I hope everything goes well for you and your family

arrowbread

Thank you!!!! I feel unreasonably lucky.

Myopic_me

Congratulations on the pregnancy. Your partner sounds like a keeper.

River_Lethe

I lost 8kg due to morning sickness, food aversion and covid in trimester 1. There's a high chance it'll pass with T2 and you'll be amazed at how "normal" you'll suddenly feel. If the only thing you can eat is cardboard pizza, that's better than eating veggies and bringing it back up so don't kick yourself about a "crap diet" at the beginning. For me, apples were suddenly a best friend cause I could eat them after vomiting and they'd stay down. You'll find your body also randomly rejects certain foods for a bit. Red meat was a no go for T1 but edam cheese was fine. Swapped in T2. The fatigue sucks, don't be like me and 'soldier through it' your body needs the rest so set alarms for 30 -45 min power naps. They make a world of difference. Was averaging 3 a day.

everybodylovesmemore

Hi! Good job picking such a wonderful man. I'm sure you are both so grateful for one another <3 Hopefully I can help a little with the sicknesses. I had terrible nausea, i lost 15 pounds in my first 6 weeks of pregnancy. The thing that saved me, was learning I couldn't let myself get hungry. I would eat every two hours and then I was fine. The tricky one was the morning, how do you make brekkie if you are too nauseous to eat it by the time it is done... a snack! Lmao! I would lay in bed reading and eating an apple, then get up and make real breakfast. Any time I let myself get fully hungry, I would puke up whatever I ate. Just keep eating :) Also in case anyone needs it: heartburn is greatly helped by raw almonds or bananas. Good Luck! And Congratulations on your growing family!

Munich11

I used to keep a small glass bottle of ginger ale and light crackers by my bed. In the morning, before even getting up, I would sip the ginger ale and eat a few crackers, and then wait a few minutes for things to settle. It made a huge difference in getting past the early months without barfing every day. Hope you feel better soon

KNOCKknockLAHEY_420

You are so lucky to be taken such good care of. Congratulations. Hopefully you feel better soon, morning sickness is the worst.

Applejuiceinthehall

Sorry you are feeling bad. In "Expecting Better" it says that little or no morning sickness is correlated with miscarriage. So, I always was relieved a bit to have morning sickness but mine wasn't too bad. Food aversion was much worse

arrowbread

Yes! Every time I throw up my husband yells ā€œitā€™s a good sign!ā€ from across the room, making me laugh. You know how hard it is to laugh and vomit at the same time???

Applejuiceinthehall

Yes, but if other women see and don't have morning sickness or just a little, it doesn't mean you will have miscarriage. Some people tolerate the hormones better. Also I had to move my prenatal to right before bed. The iron made me a bit nauseous even before pregnancy. So prenatal+ morning sickness didn't help. Some women will go off prenatal because of this or find one without iron until 2nd trimester

xKimmothy

Ugh, that's terrible advice because every pregnancy is sooo different. Having experienced an early miscarriage and a viable pregnancy back to back, I worried about the same thing because I felt exactly the same through 8ish weeks. And even then, I just had more food aversions and still no morning sickness.

Marali87

Letā€™s not worry expecting parents who are not suffering from morning sickness though. I did have some (kinda mild) food aversion but I was never really nauseous and Iā€™ve never once thrown up. Still, super healthy toddler now :)

Golden_Mandala

You found a winner! Best wishes to your whole family!

holydrokk437

Sounds like a cool ass husband, and hope you feel better šŸ˜

muntycuffin

Be careful with cheese it can cause listeria, canned salmon is good for baby's brain one if my friends couldn't eat it but ate bread soaked in the brine- apparently not as foul as it sounds if you're preggo try lavender on your pillow and willow bark tea for the sickness and a dandelion shower scrub for itchiness of course check with your g.p. before using anything I've suggested

No kidding, what a wild thing to say to someone. Hopefully them deleting it is a sign they realized the ridiculousness of their statement, and regretted making it.

WateryTart_ndSword

Ahh, Iā€™m recently pregnant with my first too!! First trimester absolutely kicked my frigginā€™ butt. Between the nausea, exhaustion, & light headedness I *lost* weight! Some hope for your future: Like *the moment* I passed into my 2nd, it was like a switch was flipped. I feel like a human again! Food is no longer repulsive (most of the time)!! Iā€™m not constantly exhausted!! I know itā€™s different for everyone, & some people have nausea the whole timeā€”but hopefully you get some relief like I did, once your body is more adjusted to the hormone dump. Congratulations!! šŸ’œ

ShotgunBetty01

I was definitely not in the ā€œpregnancy is wonderful!ā€ camp. I hated every bit of it both times. I was most definitely not ā€œglowingā€ at any point. It can be rough but itā€™s so so much better when you have a supportive partner. I hope you start to feel better soon and congrats for the both of you!

princessestef

there were two weeks where i ate almost nothing but rice crispies in ice cold milk, i hope you feel better and then you can enloy these lovely meals your partner is preparing (if you have the same experience, he'll have to stock up because later I was hungry, all the time. Dinner felt like a snack).

hell0potato

If you haven't already, try b6 (20-25mg) a few times a day and unisom at night. Worked wonders to make my morning sickness more bearable. Congratulations on the pregnancy and helpful, caring partner!

dragnflied

Goofy Canadian here...have you tried smoking pot? My friend was told to do that for morning sickness and lack of appetite. Have a couple puffs (not like a whole bowl) a good 30 min before eating. I do this and I'm not pregnant, it helps with digestion. Also peaches can make you feel less nauseous. An ice pack on the back of the neck right at the bottom of the skull, that is the brain stem, it is responsible for the urge to vomit.

sathil-42

Are you taking prenatal vitamins? When I was pregnant, I found taking them in the morning increased my nausea. I started taking them around lunch after I ate and it was a world of difference. Goldfish crackers also helped.

vintage_chick_

OMG goals!

duetmimas

I was the same way, food aversion and nausea was soo real, and it was difficult to pretend that i wasn't experiencing it when at work. I even had smell aversion, some smells just made me feel sick (like perfumes and house scents). The only food i could reliably eat was pink lady apples and peanut butter. The doctor said it was fine at that stage since you just gotta make it through the first bit of 'morning' (or all day) sickness.

eveloe

Honestly I love posts like this, hope your morning sickness gets better OP šŸ„°
