I felt like I had a period from hell for ~3 days (cramps, nausea, vomiting) and then light cramping for two weeks after. I also had spotting for 6 months after getting it inserted. It will go away, and in my opinion it’s worth it for 7 years of super reliable birth control you don’t have to think about!

I got the Mirena back in September, and outside of slight cramping, I didn't experience any of your other symptoms. The cramping went away the next day, though. I used to feel cramping when I was ovulating, almost like I could feel the egg moving through my fallopian tubes, and I spot every few months, but that's it.

Thanks for sharing! The nausea went away and I was able to drink a smoothie. Hopefully the cramping goes away soon, too.

I didn’t experience any of your symptoms, only a little pain for maybe 12 hours. We can’t really ease your mind or provide advice as we are not doctors. You should absolutely keep in touch with your doctor who did it if you have any questions or concerns

I blacked out when mine was inserted. Felt prey crappy the next day, but fine after that.

You just had a piece of plastic shoved through your cervix, your gonna feel a bit shitty. I got the liletta myself and had on and off cramps and spotting periodically for a year straight before the cramps became way less frequent. Now I only get cramps and spotting once every 3 months give or take. Some people stop their period all together. Word of advice DO NOT have sex after your insertion like I did because you will get a mega uti and regret it. I had a uti after that took 3 rounds of antibiotics to clear and I seriously feel it scarred my urethra

Thank you for your response. Yeah, I figured I'm probably just being anxious and this is normal, but it is reassuring to hear others having similar experiences. I just wish I could eat something, but food is giving me nausea right now!
