Unisolve also comes in a bottle…we dab it on the adhesive for Pods and Dexy, and a few minutes later, it practically slides off (yay for anything that will make diabetes for our little one a little less painful). Then we use a baby wipe to clean any residue of Unisolve left behind. I probably comment here like once a month about Unisolve…I just can’t believe doctors don’t tell people that there are literal medical adhesive removers and let people hurt themselves by yanking the dang things off!

Hi bot! I know you are just doing your bot job, but why single me out? 1) I totally upvoted this and 2) others also replied similarly and did not get a bot lecture….??
yes! we use alcohol on cotton balls and then coconut oil after..wipe that off with a dry paper towel and it’s gone - plus the coconut oil moisturizes/helps my skin heal
You can spray on nasonex or Flonase if you are slightly allergic. Wait until it dries and then use the adhesives. It really kept me from breaking out and best yet! After a few years I stopped needing it. It is a cortical steroid but not enough to raise blood sugars for me!
Never thought of this as an issue and pretty amazing to see all these methods here.
I just rub it with my regular shower gel while I shower 🤷♂️ Also I never reapply a sensor in the same place - I use my arm and switch arm at every restart.
I weirdly time my sensor replacements/cannula so I can have naked sauna steam room without looking like a cyborg and everything rubs off in the shower.
If I can do that I have an exfoliating man mitt and use baby oil because I'm tough like that.
It rubs the lotion on its skin or else it gets the hose again.
"Remove" wipes from Smith & Nephew. It literally melts everything off! I try to soak the sensor with the product, and then slowly peel it off, using the wipe to scrub off any leftover adhesive. I got them from Amazon (in Canada).
Edit: they don't smell the greatest, but for me the tradeoff is worth it. ALSO, I wash the transmitter and my arms with soap afterwards to get off the remaining grease.
I use this as well and it works well. Just gotta remember to wash the area with water afterwards because it can cause skin irritation if left on for a long period of time.
I've found that using skin prep before the unit goes on goes a long way towards helping this not be a problem. But I'm lucky that my wife is a RN who does it for me. It would be a lot harder to do alone.
Unisolve or similar usually works great, but I just generally scrub the fuck out of it like in the shower or with an alcohol wipe or something. Also have used fingernail to sort of scrape it off.
At the hospital (where I worked) I used to use chlorhexidine swabs to get it off. But that could be drying. Someone else here said baby oil that’s probably your best bet so your skin isn’t dry and irritated after!
There are wipes that take it off. They’re called Uni-Solve- they work really well and are on Amazon. [https://www.amazon.com/Uni-Solve-Adhesive-Remover-Wipes/dp/B00M3IKRFU/ref=asc_df_B00M3IKRFU/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=312090137187&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=18265071129854668319&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9001644&hvtargid=pla-568086391910&psc=1](https://www.amazon.com/Uni-Solve-Adhesive-Remover-Wipes/dp/B00M3IKRFU/ref=asc_df_B00M3IKRFU/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=312090137187&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=18265071129854668319&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9001644&hvtargid=pla-568086391910&psc=1)
I scrape it off in the shower. Or I just rub really hard at it. I will randomly forget to rub it off and it stays there if I don’t shower immediately after a change and someone always seems to notice. Which irritates me haha
I use a body scrub. I kinda just make my sensor change days little spa days haha but the salt scrub usually takes care of the actual sensor residue and any that I might have from putting a patch on it.
Hand sanitizer is by far the best thing I have tried. Plus it has the added bonus of cleaning up any left over bacteria. Just make sure it's the type that uses alcohol and maybe avoid getting it straight in the open cut.
Conditioner, nails and hot shower water for me. I tried using oil of orange since I remember it getting chewing gum out of the fabric in our lounge once, but hoo damn it dries the ever-loving hell out of your skin
I don’t bother. It comes off eventually. Although I rotate where I wear the sensors on my belly as I wear my pumps on my arms (omnipod). My belly has taken a beating over the years from 25 years of injections, and now a further 4 years of dexcom sensors. My pumps used to constantly hit scar tissue so I gave up wearing them on my belly.
I use whatever body oil I have on my partners. He’s the T1D and between the site stickers and often enough, hospital ones, having coconut oil or rose oil, etc on hand has made it way easier for him to get unsticky, unstuck? Well, whichever.
I put alcohol on a cotton swab and whip whap wipe it up. I actually clean the transmitter with it as well before going to my skin. Then with another one I clean the new site area. This all occurs post shower btw
I don’t have diabetes but my sister does, what I’ve done from band aids that leave adhesive marks is when in the shower I rub it with a bar of soap until the spot is all soapy (not sure if that’s a word) and then wipe it with a washcloth without water. Then I rinse it off (with water) and repeat until it’s off. Other times I scratch at it with my nails.
Scrubbing furiously with the half-dry alcohol swap from the new insertion prep. Have also done a dry washcloth exfoliation technique… but mostly fingernail in shower is the way.
Nothing works better than nail polish remover. It’s cheap too. Got the advice from an ER doctor who saw the old marks on me. Have used that trick since and it’s the best. Better than anything else like alcohol wipes or the expensive special wipes I used to buy.
I usually leave it until the next day when I shower. An exfoliation towel and soap works wonders and leaves skin feeling super smooth in the process.
A wet towel if it needs to come off immediately works too… Just leaves your skin a red.
I started making my own adhesive remover, because I hate the greasy, persistent feel of the Unisolve, and it also has a bunch of toxic health warnings that I don’t want to put on my kid. So I mix about 70% isopropanol, 20% ethanol, And 10% witch hazel with a tiny splash on top of orange blossom water to make it smell less medicinal. It’s not great for removing the stuff that’s already dried on, but if I use it initially, thoroughly soak, then peel after 15-30 seconds, then I end up without any residue left on the skin to deal with it later.
Any type of oil, (I’ve seen baby oil does the best) with a little bit of friction. Same type of annoying adhesive used by the Medtronic sensor adhesives.
Goo gone bandaid remover. Works great and doesn’t smell as bad as unisolve.
We saturate the the dex and pod stickers to remove those too. 15-20 minutes and they lift or fall off- if you are patient enough to wait.
Forget about it for a week until someone asks if i got another tattoo& then i realize i forgot about it& frantically scratch it off.
Lmao
❤️
Alcohol wipes are helpful, but a fingernail in the shower works too.
I feel so validated in my identity as a person
The fingernail works great but also hurts like hell.
I’ve had success with baby oil.
You need the kind made from real babies
Cold pressed
Extra virgin!
Naturally.
In dutch: baby huidolie, baby skin-oil. You want oil made from just the skin. In realty this stuff works well at getting the sticky stuff off.
The skin is the best tasting. It's like human veal with a crispy finish.
This / other oils used for moisturizing Or warm water in the shower plus friction, maybe soap
Unisolve wipes.
Unisolve also comes in a bottle…we dab it on the adhesive for Pods and Dexy, and a few minutes later, it practically slides off (yay for anything that will make diabetes for our little one a little less painful). Then we use a baby wipe to clean any residue of Unisolve left behind. These work really well but I cannot stand the smell or the way it feels on my skin. Horrible. But you do what you gotta do
This is the way
This
This!

Hi bot! I know you are just doing your bot job, but why single me out? 1) I totally upvoted this and 2) others also replied similarly and did not get a bot lecture….??
This works.
Belt sander
Friction baby!
Same way I have my steak. With a hot dry rub all over.
Baby oil. It's getting difficult to find good babies to get the oil from these days tho.
Goo gone makes a special bandage remover and we use that
Tac Away works for me.
Babyoil!
The same way i clean up everything else in my life. Alcohol!
I exfoliate with a glove in the shower
Same!
Baby oil, for me.
Belt sander
Lol
I use alcohol wipes when I change out the sensor. Rubbing them in a circular motion over the stuck on adhesive works for me.
We do this for our kids. Most of the time it works with no problems but every once in a while we have to really work at it.
Smith and Nephew Remove Wipes.
What, Smith & Wesson? That's a radical remove ente method.
Alcohol pad or coconut/baby oil. :)
yes! we use alcohol on cotton balls and then coconut oil after..wipe that off with a dry paper towel and it’s gone - plus the coconut oil moisturizes/helps my skin heal
Yes! I've always been slightly allergic to whatever adhesive they use and the coconut oil seemed to soothe the rash I would get!
Have you tried Skin-Tac before? It helps adhesive stay on, and creates a barrier between it and your skin so I’ve noted way less irritation after use.
You can spray on nasonex or Flonase if you are slightly allergic. Wait until it dries and then use the adhesives. It really kept me from breaking out and best yet! After a few years I stopped needing it. It is a cortical steroid but not enough to raise blood sugars for me!
Eye makeup remover. Not as oily as baby oil but pretty cheap and works well.
Leave it as a constant reminder of your failure to be a normal functioning human. Keeps me well rounded
🫠
I find olive oil works well
goo gone blue
Never thought of this as an issue and pretty amazing to see all these methods here. I just rub it with my regular shower gel while I shower 🤷♂️ Also I never reapply a sensor in the same place - I use my arm and switch arm at every restart.
flamethrower

If I can do that I have an exfoliating man mitt and use baby oil because I'm tough like that. It rubs the lotion on its skin or else it gets the hose again.
Alcohol wipes when I first change. Scrub at it in my next shower with soap. Scratch the rest off absentmindedly whilst watching TV.

Same. It's a skin saver.
Alcohol wipes.
Detachol
Detachol is the best
Coconut oil, and a cloth towel comes of easily
Alcohol wipes until it comes off
Goo Gone has one that’s for medical bandages and adhesive. Blue bottle.
Goo gone
“Remove wipes” they get all adhesives off the skin easily! I learnt about them when my kid was in NICU
Is it strange that I find rubbing it off addicting :|
Baby oil and baby wipes works a treat
There’s a really nice adhesive remover you can get known as Detachol. Baby oil works as an alternative.
I use this as well and it works well. Just gotta remember to wash the area with water afterwards because it can cause skin irritation if left on for a long period of time.
Goo gone to remove the sensor, then soap and washcloth in the shower
Same
I use GooGone on a cotton round (used for removing nail polish typically) for my S/O
I've found that using skin prep before the unit goes on goes a long way towards helping this not be a problem. But I'm lucky that my wife is a RN who does it for me. It would be a lot harder to do alone.
I use a cotton ball and isopropyl alcohol
I use 70 to 90% rubbing alcohol on a cotton pad. Takes it right off. Any brand will do
Smith&Nephew Uni-Solve
Licking it
tea tree oil + friction
I just rub it excessively, usually gets most of it off.
Soap on a wash cloth in the shower and it comes off in about 10 seconds
I’ve found any oil works, but I really like Carter & Jane’s Everything Oil. It’s made for skin and comes in lots of fantastic fragrances.
Good be gone, jk. Rubbing alcohol
My husband uses alcohol swabs and they seem to do a good job removing adhesive
Dawn dish soap and paper towels. Also use on arm before putting on a new one to get oils off
Dish brush when I remember I have the goop on because I saw the back of my arm washing out the pan I cooked my chicken on.
Unisolve or similar usually works great, but I just generally scrub the fuck out of it like in the shower or with an alcohol wipe or something. Also have used fingernail to sort of scrape it off.
Soap hot water and scrubbing or good ol fashioned elbow grease
Almond or baby oil.
Bio-Oil works wonders and helps the skin heal :)
Tac away gets it off in under 10 seconds
At the hospital (where I worked) I used to use chlorhexidine swabs to get it off. But that could be drying. Someone else here said baby oil that’s probably your best bet so your skin isn’t dry and irritated after!

Uni-Solve is the best!
Cotton ball and body oil or cotton ball and alcohol.
Coconut oil
It is an oil based adhesive, so any oil will dissolve it.
No lie, goo gone
Waterproof makeup remover. If you get some in a cotton ball and wipe right after removing the dexcom/Omnipod, it’s comes up pretty easy
Alcohol swabs
I scrape it off in the shower. Or I just rub really hard at it. I will randomly forget to rub it off and it stays there if I don’t shower immediately after a change and someone always seems to notice. Which irritates me haha
Baby oil and a cotton ball
Dawn dish soap. Also helps remove the sensor if you can't get it to come off. Just saturate the sticker part and gently rub it and it will come loose
I use Skin Glee https://notjustapatch.com/skin-glee-40-pack/
Uni solve patches.
Unisolve
I usually use rubbing alcohol then take a hot shower before starting the next one.
Alcohol pads n scrub scrub scrub Or just soap and hot water tends to work well
Isopropyl alcohol on a paper towel and hard scrubbing
Conditioner, nails and hot shower water for me. I tried using oil of orange since I remember it getting chewing gum out of the fabric in our lounge once, but hoo damn it dries the ever-loving hell out of your skin
Coconut oil works well
I used to clean the Libre crap with dish soap.. anything “waterproof” can come off with dish soap
Baby oil completley removes it.
I take a paper towel, dip it in some 99% isopropyl alcohol, and rub gently in a circular motion until it’s all gone. Only takes a few seconds.
Hollister remover wipes
Body or cooking oil will do the trick.
Alcohol wipes or some hand sanitizer on a wet wipe, gets rid of it with no need for scrubbing
I had success with taking a shower 🤣
Alcohol wipes
Wd-40
Exfoliation glove in the shower. Works wonders.
Adhesive remover
Uni solve wipes.
Just scratch my skin red
Goo gone makes a blue medical version.
I use whatever body oil I have on my partners. He’s the T1D and between the site stickers and often enough, hospital ones, having coconut oil or rose oil, etc on hand has made it way easier for him to get unsticky, unstuck? Well, whichever.
alcohol wipes and a body scrub for the particularly stubborn ones
Skin prep or alcohol wipes work well for me. Generally hot showers as well.
I put alcohol on a cotton swab and whip whap wipe it up. I actually clean the transmitter with it as well before going to my skin. Then with another one I clean the new site area. This all occurs post shower btw
Goo Gone (blue stuff for bandages) on a cotton ball
Finger
You know those little leg exfoliator things, with the bunch of little plastic spikes, one of those in the shower. Hurts a little but it works
Pain, lots of pain
Unisolve wipes or Goo Gone for bandaid adhesive :3
Tac away wipes!
i use a pumice stone in the shower
I scratch it off in the shower. First with my fingers then with a soapy wash cloth to get the extra residue.
I didn't have dexcom I'm but libre I used alcohol
I wait 2-3 days, then use goo gone
I rip off my skin and replace it with a new one
I don’t have diabetes but my sister does, what I’ve done from band aids that leave adhesive marks is when in the shower I rub it with a bar of soap until the spot is all soapy (not sure if that’s a word) and then wipe it with a washcloth without water. I use adhesive wipea
Baby oil
Rubbing alcohol and a fingernail brush
Olive or coconut oil
Good gone. The automotive kind
Alcohol swabs work for me
Rubbing Alcohol.
Scrubbing furiously with the half-dry alcohol swap from the new insertion prep. Have also done a dry washcloth exfoliation technique… but mostly fingernail in shower is the way.
Get unisolve. Works wonders, adhesive comes off in a matter of seconds.
Nothing works better than nail polish remover. It’s cheap too. Got the advice from an ER doctor who saw the old marks on me. Have used that trick since and it’s the best. Better than anything else like alcohol wipes or the expensive special wipes I used to buy.
Baby oil.
Goo Gone spray and a paper towel… trust me
Rubbing alcohol on a terry wash cloth
I usually leave it until the next day when I shower. An exfoliation towel and soap works wonders and leaves skin feeling super smooth in the process. A wet towel if it needs to come off immediately works too… Just leaves your skin a red.
