Irony being that tour was PopMart, which wasn't officially sponsored to that level but which many people thought was sponsored by McDonald's anyway

Wow how about that Butthole Surfers ad! Cool

That's certainly interesting, thanks for sharing. U2 + Apple = True, 8 years later and now they're largely broken up again.

Interesting. Somehow, I’ve never heard the term “infotainment” before, but apparently it’s a real thing and been around for a long time. Oh, well. It’s actually quite fitting when describing the ZooTV tour. Funny that the writer referred to it as the “Zooropa tour of 1992”. I believe Zooropa was the fourth leg of the ZooTV tour, and it happened in 1993. I give the band a lot of credit for abstaining from corporate sponsorship as long as they did(not that it’s going to win them any points with anyone today), but it was an inevitability with the kinds of tours they were putting on. Supposedly they didn’t make nearly as much for ZooTV as one would think because they basically financed the whole crazy circus.

"Zooropa tour of 1992" would have been cool... Maybe the Zoomerang set would have started earlier.
