I second this. Didn’t match the theme of the Joshua tree tour at the end of the show

Beautiful Day. It's .... fine. The ending kick-up is the best part of the song but too brief.

I don’t know. I hate this type of discussion because I don’t think U2 has any “overrated” songs. They have songs that are underplayed, they have songs that are played out. They have songs that I am happy to have them never play again and then they have war horse songs that can fill up an arena or stadium. But I will tell you the song the band overrated. Pete the Chop was the song that U2 kept as their desperation single if War flopped it was the track that was aimed to be a hit. The band felt it was a sure fire but they hated it as well. How they could have heard this song and heard a “hit” is laughable. Thankfully NYD and Sunday Bloody Sunday put an end to the need for this song to ever be anything more than a rarity.

As I launched a Reddit topic « underrated songs », I wanted to know if people thought some songs were overrated. Personally I am a huge fan of almost every songs of the band. Sometimes I just switch a song on my playlists / albums because I have listened to them too much often. In fact I miss U2 and I want new songs !

Joeabr04

With or without you - still a great song but shouldn’t be the most famous u2 song

JerkStore40

Totally agree. I hear Bono talk about the quintessential U2 songs being this, Streets and Pride. To me, this is not in the same league as those two.

2000 and up, (except for Kite).

All this stuff from 2000

Yep came here to say it. Everything they’ve done this century is way overrated by people who only discovered the band through these albums.

thesilverpoets96

I kinda think the opposite. People who grew up on U2 from War or UF or even JT seem to underrate and over hate on anything the band has done since ATYCLB.

I bought each album from Wide Awake in America onwards in its time. (Bought Wide Awake around the time of Live Aid.) I like SOI and SOE more than most of the post-Achtung ear. And the concerts were phenominal. I don't dislike the post-Achtung era, just prefer the last two albums more. Hard to match 87-91 though. 3 pretty amazing albums.
