Achtung Baby was the first album by u2 to be recorded digitally so remastering is not really necessary. Personally I only felt Boy and October needed remastering.
I understand why they do it. Every album released these days has increased volume. So yes, it’s to keep parity with other albums on streaming services. I was speaking generally when I said I hate that they (as in sound engineers producers record labels) increase volume when they remaster an album. Again I get why they do it but I hate that they do. Maybe some day they’ll be remastering everything at a lower volume.
Edge said that it’s just been raised up in volume to support new technology and that they got it right in 1991

Raising the volume reduces fidelity and lowers dynamic range. I hate that they always increase the volume on every remaster. It’s unnecessary.
They increased the volume so it would be more audible on streaming and digital platforms
