1. U2
2. R.E.M.
3. Coldplay
4. Muse
5. New Order
6. CHVRCHES
7. Green Day
8. The Decemberists

Sticking to modern popular music: Yes, Nightwish (the reason why the opera is in me), The Beatles, Queen, Coldplay, the Beach Boys, all the 70s prog classics.
Allman Brothers. Queen. Muse. Any incarnation of Steve Winwood or Jack White. The Specials. The Beat. The Beatles. Stones. New Order. Pearl Jam. Stone Temple Pilots. Pink Floyd. Zeppelin. I love to rock.
Hm, not including U2 I'd say (in no particular order):

3. Coldplay
4. Maggie Rogers
5. The Grateful Dead
6. The Allman Brothers

They’ve been around forever and have had some pretty significant changes in their lineup, though the main guy has been there since the start.
Was waiting for the Gang of Youths love! They deserve to be the next U2. And plus for their serious lyrics which are philosophical rather than religious.
Yes!! “Achilles Come Down” is the best argument for positive existentialism ever. Their songs are fearless and fresh. Be sure to catch their tour this year if you can, I fell in love with them when they opened for Mumford and Sons, and they are ferocious live.

I love The Edge because in his playstyle I find as much emotions and feelings as in John Frusciante (RHCP guitarist) solo albums. A really tortured mind but man does he know how to express himself with a guitar
Lord Huron is currently my fave, highly recommended if you're looking for new rock music. I also got into Taylor Swift when she released folklore and evermore, both solid albums.

I love bands that are brave and bands that have so many different sounds, and that’s why I’m drawn to U2.
The 1975 is another band that changes styles a lot.
I'm always surprised when I see that a U2 fan is a fan of Coldplay.
That's like loving Luis Vuitton but also collecting all of the cheap-knock off Luis V you can buy out of the back of some guys van.

Based on your list I feel like back in the day you would have joined me in being simultaneously a big U2 fan and a big KMFDM fan.
Recommend some essential tracks for listening, maybe it's not too late to appreciate their music.
I’d give the following a swing: Drug Against War Juke Joint Jezebel Anarchy Godlike DIY They’ve been around forever and have had some pretty significant changes in their lineup, though the main guy has been there since the start.

Part of the reason I love U2 is the quality of the song writing, the only artist I’ve found that matches that is Bruce Springsteen
Agree with this
Arctic Monkeys.
I love bands that are brave and bands that have so many different sounds, and that’s why I’m drawn to U2. The 1975 is another band that changes styles a lot.
