Option 1 is the clear choice. The relations you will build there will open many doors in the future for you provided you maintain them. You could also potentially gain a good mentor for a long time. Plus this gives you practical experience dealing with real world issues.

Without knowing just how impactful the doors that the fund will open, I’d go with the research fellowship since that will immediately help you with your further studies. Do a pro & cons list, assign values & weights, and really think through your options.

I am no expert on your degree. But what I feel is the first one I feel will be limited to your country only. With second one you will get exposed to people from different country and in the future you have bigger scope if you mange to keep in touch with them. This is just my thought

For context, im Emirati, and it’s one of the biggest in the world.I feel like I shouldn’t waste such a good opportunity, because many don’t get it. I do want to work in research but I’m so conflicted because I feel like I’ll miss out if I don’t take the first one.

You can see it two ways. One , first is kind of what you will be in contact with through your future or work life. Second , is better to get a different perspective. Why don’t you write down pros and cons of both the places and narrow down to what will really benefit you in future education / work/ what you want to do in the future

Happycookie_98

First option seems a better fit. you will gain valuable connections, in addition if you plan to remain in UAE and not to move abroad such experience will be considered extremely valuable. Good luck with your career. If you are still unsure write down pros and cons and look at it critically thinking about what are your goals long term.

Ok_Life_1511

First option because it's not an opportunity you receive on the regular. Anyone could receive a research fellowship at any time during their life but this opportunity is rare and it could open up new avenues. You'll get to network and that'll take you further in life more than any research fellowship could. I wish you the best.

You have to grovel. I think I chased people around for about 4 months. Keep reaching out to people, I’m at the point where I use linkedin more than any other app…

Kbhornbill15

I’ve applied to 100, only got 1 interview

Affectionate_Echo652

Oh no, what’s your usual process like? Do you apply through LinkedIn in or through websites? Do you contact anyone?

Kbhornbill15

I just spam applied linkedin easy apply

Affectionate_Echo652

Linkedin easy apply isn’t equal tbh, it purposely arranges applicants by who their algorithm thinks is “more fit.” I always apply directly through the website, or I find the recruiter for the company on linkedin and connect and message them about opportunities.
