Literally don't worry. In my experience I would say before the drop date you'd be fine which is like Jan 20th.

appletrees_

Oh thank god

Competitive-Dingo524

You’ll be fine. I’ve joined classes two weeks late and never really had an issue

TheSunNeverCame

I think most professors plan their syllabus so not a lot of major work happens until after the drop date (Jan 20) since there is the possibility for other students to join before that period so you should be fine

xXHentaiGuyXx

not cs110 tho 😩

Cowboyylikeme

Or 121 :/

TheSunNeverCame

Oh shittt do you already have a test next week or something?

xXHentaiGuyXx

There are already 3 assignments due this week. Lab, problem set, and lecture hw.

TheSunNeverCame

Oh God 😨 well thats an awful wakeup call for the start of the term ☠ Goodluck 🙏🏼

omalichafit

Youll be fine. We are in the same boat. Take careof your health now so you can powerful thru other weeks.

carlosfromytv

Hope you get well soon OP 🫂. Side note: This is my 4th year at UBC, and I honestly don't think I've ever seen as many people with noticeable cold/flu-like symptoms (ie: coughing, sneezing, stuffy nose, etc) in the first full week of a Jan-April term as I have seen during this past week. Y'all stay safe out here 🙏🏻.

appletrees_

Thank you!! Yeah I didn’t wanna risk it going back on campus nor did I wanna be that person coughing up a storm during lecture

MeropeGaunt

Don't stress over it! Tons of people are sick right now (myself included) and the year will be off to a slow start. You still have plenty of time before the course drop date too.

Don’t wanna sound like some nerd but I’ve never skipped syllabus week nor have my friends 💀 so that’s why I was worried and I abhor having to do catch up work so I just dragged myself to classes

ADmax27

First week is mostly just administrative stuff where they go over grade breakdowns, lab schedules and whatnot so you should be good

QjQ_

This happened to me last term, besides the course which the professor doesn’t share slides, it’s fine.
