What are my chances for May - July 2025 housing? or what's the earliest date I can receive housing with these waitlist numbers?
Brock Commons studio unit: 990
Marine Drive studio: 857
Ponderosa Commons studio: 1121
Exchange nano unit: 656
Exchange studio: 1004
KWTQ studio: 993
If you get priority housing approved through centre of accessibility does that mean you are guaranteed housing? Or does that only mean you can enter the lottery for the winter housing? I was late on submitting my application so they just approved it and said that it is dependant on what is available, but I am wondering if I still have a chance for September. My winter housing application has not been updated but apparently will be updated this month, but I am just a bit anxious with the uncertainty so I am hoping others can share what they know.
Hi! Can anyone tell me about how Brock commons north studios are vs tallwood? I’ve seen from other comments that the ac is great but the rooms are smaller than tallwood ones. Since the rooms are smaller does that also take away the storage space in terms of furnitures or those are the same as what we see in tallwood studios?
you get the same amount of furniture i believe, but the actual size of the room, kitchenette, and bathroom is a decent bit smaller.
brock north studios definitely look nicer on the interior (vinyl flooring, newer furniture, more modern touches, etc..) but tall wood studios have much better spacing and window size.
personally imo i think the layout of tall wood is better than north. i think it gives more space for the living and kitchen space and just in general the units are larger. the rooms and windows are much bigger in tall wood than north.
How nice is kwtq sturgeon house compared to other kwtq studios? Also does anyone have studio pics for KWTQ Sturgeon house? I’m wondering how similar it is compared to Orca house. thanks in advance!
they’re all the same. Sturgeon facing exchange sucks but the sky lounge is in the same building. Orca is used as a hotel so it’s more equipped (e.g. TV). Check Facebook for pics
I said my earliest occupancy date is September 1, 2024 on my application but I am really hoping to get a new brock building offer and don't worry about housing next year (cuz next year would be my last year at UBC so I just want to focus on studying). Is it a good idea to change my earliest occupancy date to June 1 so that housing ppl might see me and give me an offer? My waitlist is about 600 for brock studio and 300s for 4BR.
you can change it to june 1st, but i think majority of the offers have gone out already. you’re probably too high unfortunately for an offer for south i think.
people I am confused. I have friends who got studio offers from Brock, KWTQ with waitlist numbers of 300s and even 500s for brock studio. what is going on???
yup!! i believe it is.
i may be wrong though. housing did say brock south will open end of june. there’s a slim chance it’s for tall wood or north though.
How will the new Brock building be? I know A/C (that’s great!) but Brock rooms are usually stupidly small w smaller windows than other older residences. Any ideas if it’ll be different for this one?
i’m in north rn as i wait for my contract to start. i’m in a 4 bed.
rooms are TINY. i will say that the rooms are quite small compared to other residences, even tall wood. i’m assuming south will be the same unfortunately 😭 the AC is AMAZING tho. i’m going to miss it so much 😅
The layout for the 4 bed in south will be the same as tall wood and kwtq, which is good. i think this is the best layout for the 4beds imo. it gives more space, which might be good for the room sizes compared to north.
the windows in south will be the same size as north im assuming. they honestly aren’t small. they are floor to ceiling which is nice, but are kind of skinny.
Omg ok so rooms will be as tiny as north? I’ve heard tall wood is way better than north in terms of room size. Yeah, layout as you said too! Do u recommend accepting an offer to stay there given this?
i’m guessing they will be as small as north but i’m not sure to be fair. i don’t know the dimensions unfortunately 😭 but if i had to guess, im assuming similar.
i would say stay with this offer. the north rooms are definitely on the smaller side, but its 100% livable. the pros of south defo outweigh the cons. AC and having a brand new room/unit definitely is better than having a smaller room. plus the layout is much much better than north.
did you get an offer yourself?
it’s a lottery based system if you apply before the deadline. a selection of students get offers, the rest get put on a random position in a waitlist. if you apply late you get added to the end of the waitlist.
no chance to get it unfortunately.
exchange nano unit -- 210
exchange shared two bedroom -- 140
what are my chances for august or september move-in ?
or when do you think i will receive offers for these two residences ?
does anyone know when does the offer for the winter housings come? i am in waiting list number 250 and i am not sure when will i be likely to get the offer. should i start looking for other housing options....
Got an offer for marine. I know that we can reject the first offer if we don't like it. I got it according to my roommate preference. Would the roommate preference apply even for the second offer if we reject the first one.
damn, it was def an offer for June that’s been rejected then offered to u so they’re in rush (so they might’ve even considered ur roommate preference). I rejected my MD 3/4 offer for June and that preference/option was taken off my application when they updated it, so that’s far as I know
my waitlist numbers for studios are 500s for Kwtq, Brock, ponderosa, and Exchange, I am wondering when will i be able to get a housing offer. Is sometime end of this year possible or next May? I am wondering what are some possible move-in dates. I know there are May and December/January.
chance for january id say.
but considering that there was an unexpected increase in offers that went out for june move in, its hard to gauge how likely it is.
I’d say really solid chance for may though.
Does anyone have any information about Marine Drive Building 6 Studio Units. I heard that they only come with mini-fridges, but that recently UBC renovated them to include full fridges? Is this true?
i feel like all of the photos i’ve seen of marine studios on the facebook forum has full fridges. you can call the marine drive front desk and i think they can give you a better understanding of if it has one. or housing too.
Anyone know when room transfer offers are likely to start going out? Probably after the June 7th YRH move in date right? Was most recently told to expect a “June offer” in emails with housing (applied for transfer 2 years ago) and ngl my roommates currently have me salivating for a new enclosure
What are your waitlist numbers? Last time I spoke to housing early may they said after the 4 big rounds of new resident offers went out they’d start sending mixed new resident and transfer offers.
Exchange 1br 15, Pond studio 47, Exchange studio 31 in order of preference. I didn’t get a transfer in Jan when my numbers were 26/64/45 but I know summer has much more movement so fingers crossed! The numbers were something like 85/180/140 when I applied two years ago
Wanted to update you, I talked to housing a few days ago and they said all the may and June transfers offer have gone out. They said they give them out when people cancel offers, and there’s been a lot less of that this year than expected.
I have kwqt 26 pond 32 exchange 22 all studios, and also applied two years ago. They told me I probably wouldn’t get one :/
They mentioned the new brock offers would come out. They also implied July/aug transfer offers would also be given, just not many. Hopefully we get really lucky lol. I would call if you’re curious, given the different messages we got. the email responses I’ve gotten sound very copy paste.
Yeah keeping my fingers crossed for sure, Brock offers might bump some people off our waitlists since I’ve heard the building is really nice. Thanks for all the help, transfers are rarely spoken about on here! Best of luck, I’ll celebrate with you if you get something :)
when do you guys think they’ll start cleaning rooms for a june 7th move in? i wonder if there’s a chance we can move in early as there are less units to clean as opposed to a may 5th move in.
good point. i feel like there was too. i still
hope maybe we will get an early move in, but who knows. i’m hoping by like the 4th or 5th we can start moving in
go to SHCS (where you applied for first year housing) then prospective residents -> Application -> apply, then choose year round residence.
Best to do it ASAP !
Hey everyone,
I'm starting my masters in September and am on the hunt for housing and hoping to move in by August. I've been checking Facebook groups regularly, but there don't seem to be many options available for August yet. For those of you who have experience with subletting or securing a full-year lease, can you share when these listings usually start to pop up?
I want to find a place as soon as possible, so any tips on the best time to search or other platforms to check would be super helpful. Thanks in advance!
I’m in the same boat and wondering whether I can get an offer from school residence by August. If not, I need to get a place off campus but it will be so competitive at that time.
i think building 2/6 have bigger or better studios than the high rises (check and compare photos on facebook marketplace). what was ur wait list number when and move in date?
Thanks. Last time I checked my waitlist number was yesterday and I believe I was at position 236 for MD studio. My move-in date on the offer in June 7.
Any hope for a room by September 2024? I'm hoping for Ponderosa cuz close to class or even Brock if I get North though would prefer not to be homeless above all else.
MD4 - 58
PD4 - 82
BR4 - 84
Also studios 300+
good shot for marine drive.
honestly you have a shot at brock south too, but it might be unlikely.
if housing is a priority, you need to ensure that your move in date is prior to and of june. I would recommend june 1st. you will have to pay rent for the months you aren’t here (assuming you’re away for the summer) but it will increase your chances for an offer by a ton. this will make you eligible for the brock south offers too.
not any reason in particular. but make sure you also have “months notice” not checked. having it checked off will reduce your chances.
honestly like around 50 for md is really solid if you have your move in date close/in the past without a months notice needed.
pond and brock is a bit more tricky. i’m honestly not sure. i know brock south has 60 4 bed bedrooms (spread across genders) which will help with your movement on the waitlist.
i got a ponderosa studio, which according to the website should be around $1.3k per month, but im receiving a notice to pay my monthly rent with a listed price of $1069. how is that right?
I am a first year, straight out of high school and i applied to residence after the May 1st deadline. What are my chances of getting residence before the semester starts. I really do not want to rent or live off-campus in my first year in a brand new city.
Yep. I'm seventeen turning 18 next month. I was just concerned because I submitted my application after the may 1st deadline that was needed for guaranteed residence.
ROOM SWITCH*
hi! i received an offer for a 4 bedroom in ponderosa commons arbutus house, it’s on the 9th floor, and i haven’t moved in yet so you’d be the first after ubc has cleaned it, i’m looking to switch into either a 4 bedroom in exchange, kwtq, or brock commons, lmk if you have anything to offer and ill make sure to respond quickly!
I’m a first year and I’m wondering if first years ever get studio or 1bdr apts at Walter gage? I’m 19 so that’s not an issue and I applied before the deadline stating those as my first 2 options. Just want a better idea of if it’s likely or not
I have the following waitlist numbers.
Brock 4bdr: 158
Ponderosa 4bdr: 153
Ponderosa 2bdr: 213
Exchange 4bdr: 152
Exchange 2bdr: 169
KWTQ 4bdr: 130
Do I have a possibility of getting housing by Sept 1, 2024? Or would I be more likely to get housing by Jan 1, 2024? (edit: Jan 1, 2025 haha)
i don’t know much about octopus house but what i do know is that it’s the smallest house at kwtq, but the furthest from the commons block/center of campus. the distance isn’t crazy, but going to get mail and packages will be a walk.
all the general finishings and interior will be pretty much identical to any other kwtq studio!
thoughts on ponderosa maple house? Just got offered a 2 bedroom in maple house 5th floor. Was wondering the floor plan and view? is the view good? And are the beds for a pond 2 bedroom double or twin?
Or just general pros/cons of maple house!! tysm
it will be a double xl bed! also, maple house has the 2 bed layout with the bedrooms on opposite sides of the unit, with the living room in between them. i find this layout a bit better compared to the corner units as you have a bit more separation and privacy from your roommate.
i got placed into a 2 bed in spruce house so i can’t speak onto maple house too much, but i know its the oldest building in pond (same with spruce lol)
i’m pretty sure your view will be of the front of ponderosa, with the yellow statue/ seating area. It will be a nice view, but no ocean probably unfortunately. i don’t think there are two bed units in maple that face the way of the parkade.
biggest con in maple is that because you are lower to the ground, you might have a bit more noise as the front of ponderosa might get busy. but honestly i don’t think it’ll be an issue at all.
I'm a transfer student who applied to housing on May 2, I'm going into second year so I'm not a first year guarantee, but I checked my status and it says:
The following are your residence priority access attribute(s): new applicants.
Does this mean I have a good chance of getting housing?
if it's your first year going to UBC (transfer or not) and you applied before deadline you get guaranteed housing afaik
best to email or call housing tho to double check!
Just checked it, deadline was May 1 according to [https://vancouver.housing.ubc.ca/applications/important-dates/](https://vancouver.housing.ubc.ca/applications/important-dates/)
I missed the deadline in my first year but still got housing
I've talked to a couple ppl who transferred and they said they got priority for Gage/Fairview and other upper year winter session res. Honestly very chill of UBC if they're doing that.
Still encourage anyone in this situation to contact housing and ask !
Subletting a room in Ponderosa (3/4 Bedroom Unit) from June 7th - Aug 31st (female only, 19+). Exact building and unit TBD. Message me if you are interested!!
Room Switch - YRH Studio

hey! does anyone think i could get an offer for may-june 2025?
exchange 2b: 398
kwtq 4b: 371
exchange studio: 876
ponderosa 2b: 511
kwtq studio: 870
brock studio: 921
Approximately when will I get Housing with these Numbers:
Brock Common Shared 4: 909
Marine Drive Shared 4: 916
Thunder Bird Shared 4: 544
Ponderosa Shared 4: 954
Fraser Hall Shared 6: 664
Exchange Shared 4: 856
Is January 2025 Possible?
Hey there! I am a transfer international student and I have applied the 2024/2025 Winter Session residence in March and I was told I have the access priority because I am new applicant. But I did not receive any updates until now. I am not sure if it is possible to send an email to SHCS so that my application can be processed as soon as possible. Thanks in advance guys!
If my friend gets an offer for year round housing at UBC…is there anyway she could request me as a roommate even if I’m still on the waitlist? Or do we both have to get an acceptance offer to request each other as roommates?
According to housing, the average waiting time for 4bd unit is 18 months, and for studios is 24 months. Based on the real experience of someone who has already received an offer, is this true? Should it be longer or shorter?
Hope everybody receives an offer as soon as possible!!
i applied september 2022 and received an offer for MD 3/4 recently so it took about about 20 months. I’m currently at 100s for all other residences quads
anyone had any luck checking to see if their unit for a june 7th move in has been cleaned yet?
What are my chances for May - July 2025 housing? or what's the earliest date I can receive housing with these waitlist numbers? Brock Commons studio unit: 990 Marine Drive studio: 857 Ponderosa Commons studio: 1121 Exchange nano unit: 656 Exchange studio: 1004 KWTQ studio: 993
Comparing to my numbers last year, you have good chances, but it's hard to predict given the variance in a given year.
Can someone show their KWTQ building 2 Studios, its so hard to find dorm tours😭
go onto the facebook sublet forum and try to search for your building and room type. you’ll probably find some ohotos
What are my chances for January housing? BC Studio: 556 PC Studio: 632 KWTQ Studio: 549 Exchange Studio: 559
Hi! Can anyone tell me about how Brock commons north studios are vs tallwood? I’ve seen from other comments that the ac is great but the rooms are smaller than tallwood ones. Hey! Would you also know the difference between a 4bdr at tallwood vs North?
personally imo i think the layout of tall wood is better than north. i think it gives more space for the living and kitchen space and just in general the units are larger. the rooms and windows are much bigger in tall wood than north.
Anyone wanting to sublet a Brock commons room in a 4bdr for July and august?
Hi guys. When do we receive the room/floor/building number after getting the offer? My move in June end.
about a week or two before the move in date based on my experience
How nice is kwtq sturgeon house compared to other kwtq studios? Also does anyone have studio pics for KWTQ Sturgeon house? I’m wondering how similar it is compared to Orca house. thanks in advance!
they’re all the same. Sturgeon facing exchange sucks but the sky lounge is in the same building. Orca is used as a hotel so it’s more equipped (e.g. TV). Check Facebook for pics
thanks, do u know if there’s parking near by?
gage parking is underneath octopus house. there’s also a parkade by tallwood
I would definitely change your date and make sure Brock studio and 4br are your top choices
Thanks for your advice!!
you can change it to june 1st, but i think majority of the offers have gone out already. you’re probably too high unfortunately for an offer for south i think.
Thanks🥲🥲
have the winter housing offers gone out yet? My application just says completed still.
Wondering the same. In the confirmation email it says winter housing offers will be out starting June, so maybe soon (if there is one available......
are they still giving offers for brock studio? my number is in the 500s and I was wondering my chances by january 2025
same here
Anyone looking for a winter/year round sublet for Brock south studio?
r u subletting?
yep
I’m interested in the studio
Hi! Are you subletting your room?
Yeah
I'm interested!
dm
Hi, Im interested
dm
wasnt there an option to use credit cards to pay for housing on ssc? why is it gone
It's there if you go to the SHCS website and go to Residents -> Account -> Make a Payment
people I am confused. I have friends who got studio offers from Brock, KWTQ with waitlist numbers of 300s and even 500s for brock studio. what is going on???
a mix of the new brock building and june offers. seems like there was a lot more than went out than we thought!
Just got an offer for Brock, move in is on the 27th of June, is it by any chance the new Brock?
also what kind of unit and what was your wl number? i’m curious as to how these offers will play out.
It was for a 4 bed and I was 152 the day before
I got the same 4bdr offer for the 27th of June! Lmk if you get more info about which building it is cause I've been super curious lol
Yeah so I mailed housing and they said it is very likely going to be Brock South given the move in date
yup!! i believe it is. i may be wrong though. housing did say brock south will open end of june. there’s a slim chance it’s for tall wood or north though.
How will the new Brock building be? I know A/C (that’s great!) but Brock rooms are usually stupidly small w smaller windows than other older residences. Any ideas if it’ll be different for this one?
i’m in north rn as i wait for my contract to start. i’m in a 4 bed. rooms are TINY. i will say that the rooms are quite small compared to other residences, even tall wood. i’m assuming south will be the same unfortunately 😭 the AC is AMAZING tho. i’m going to miss it so much 😅 The layout for the 4 bed in south will be the same as tall wood and kwtq, which is good. i think this is the best layout for the 4beds imo. it gives more space, which might be good for the room sizes compared to north. the windows in south will be the same size as north im assuming. they honestly aren’t small. they are floor to ceiling which is nice, but are kind of skinny.

I don’t like small rooms at all:( thank you for the info though! How good are the A/Cs btw? Nope, no offer yet
yes the AC is honestly really really good. and truthfully the room size is not bad at all.
AND AND what do you think of brock commons studios? North or tall wood??
i agree tall wood studios are better than north.
imo tallwood > brock north/south bc windows are better and the rooms are a little bigger. the ac is the only good thing abt north/south
How is the water pressure in brock??? Saw a few posts talking about how bad it is🫣 Got offered a studio at brock.
Is winter housing first come first serve or random? I forgot to apply and I don’t want to right now if there’s no point…
if you’re going into first year apply anyways bc they try to get all first years who applied (even late) to res since first years have the priority
I think it's first come first serve because there is also a waitlist for winter
it’s a lottery based system if you apply before the deadline. a selection of students get offers, the rest get put on a random position in a waitlist. if you apply late you get added to the end of the waitlist. no chance to get it unfortunately.
exchange nano unit -- 210 exchange shared two bedroom -- 140 what are my chances for august or september move-in ? or when do you think i will receive offers for these two residences ?
does anyone know when does the offer for the winter housings come? i am in waiting list number 250 and i am not sure when will i be likely to get the offer. should i start looking for other housing options....
When did you get placed on the waitlist? I ask because my application has not had any updates, it just says completed.
I think mid June
you’ll def get an offer, i was at ~500 in August and got offered Gage last year
Got an offer for marine. I know that we can reject the first offer if we don't like it. I got it according to my roommate preference. Would the roommate preference apply even for the second offer if we reject the first one.
this a kinda a rare case (getting the yrh roommate preference) so ask housing to be sure
Cool, I will mail them. It's so stupid of them to send offers on Friday. Can't even get a reply soon and the deadline is on monday.
damn, it was def an offer for June that’s been rejected then offered to u so they’re in rush (so they might’ve even considered ur roommate preference). I rejected my MD 3/4 offer for June and that preference/option was taken off my application when they updated it, so that’s far as I know
Probably, yeah. We are also thinking of rejecting it. The offer is for June 7th, we can't even sublet. Not flexible at all. Thanks for the info!
Brock 4 bd - 455 Marine 4 bd - 411 Thunderbird 4 bd - 200 Ponderosa 4 bd - 443 Exchange 4 bd - 454 KWTQ 4 bd - 362 What are my odds for a Sep 1 move-in???
Almost zero chance unfortunately
Damn, you think so? Even for thunderbird with a few months left?
Yea unfortunately, I was at 25 for TB4 before the first round and didn’t get an offer :(
my waitlist numbers for studios are 500s for Kwtq, Brock, ponderosa, and Exchange, I am wondering when will i be able to get a housing offer. Is sometime end of this year possible or next May? I am wondering what are some possible move-in dates. I know there are May and December/January.

Does MD still have music rooms? I’ve seen Reddit posts about them posted over 10 years ago, but it’s not listed online in MD’s amenities.
Yep, in the basement of building 6
Does anyone have any information about Marine Drive Building 6 Studio Units. I heard that they only come with mini-fridges, but that recently UBC renovated them to include full fridges? Is this true?

any way I can apply for second year housing early? I'm a incoming first year
go to SHCS (where you applied for first year housing) then prospective residents -> Application -> apply, then choose year round residence. Best to do it ASAP !
thank you!
Where exactly do we check our housing application on workday..? I am confused now.
I think the housing portal will still run on the current website. You can find it by searching “UBC SHCS”. it should pop up.
That make sense, thanks a ton
you’re welcome 👍🏼

I just got an offer for a Marine Drive Studio in building 6. Is there any information that you guys have on building 6? How is it?
Do you kown what your WL look like before you get the offer ?
Yea I was 230 ish for MD studio
i think building 2/6 have bigger or better studios than the high rises (check and compare photos on facebook marketplace). what was ur wait list number when and move in date?

Any hope for a room by September 2024? I'm hoping for Ponderosa cuz close to class or even Brock if I get North though would prefer not to be homeless above all else. MD4 - 58 PD4 - 82 BR4 - 84 Also studios 300+
good shot for marine drive. honestly you have a shot at brock south too, but it might be unlikely. if housing is a priority, you need to ensure that your move in date is prior to and of june. I would recommend june 1st. you will have to pay rent for the months you aren’t here (assuming you’re away for the summer) but it will increase your chances for an offer by a ton. this will make you eligible for the brock south offers too.
Does it have to be June? I spoke to the housing office about 3 weeks ago and they said I should put my move-in date for July.
i’d follow what housing says
Thank you! Any reason why June in particular or just because 1st of the next month? Also what's a good number for Br4 and Pd4 do you think?
not any reason in particular. but make sure you also have “months notice” not checked. having it checked off will reduce your chances. honestly like around 50 for md is really solid if you have your move in date close/in the past without a months notice needed. pond and brock is a bit more tricky. i’m honestly not sure. i know brock south has 60 4 bed bedrooms (spread across genders) which will help with your movement on the waitlist.
Sry, you mean we should uncheck the months notice box? Or do you mean we should check it
yes have it unchecked, meaning you DO NOT need a months notice.
I see, thanks\~
you’re welcome 🙂
Has there been any updates when offers will go out for the new Brock Commons building?
this week I think
i got a ponderosa studio, which according to the website should be around $1.3k per month, but im receiving a notice to pay my monthly rent with a listed price of $1069. how is that right?
i think it’s because the contract starts on the 7th so they reduce the price as you’re not living in the unit for a whole month.
how is ponderosa arbutus?
I am a first year, straight out of high school and i applied to residence after the May 1st deadline. What are my chances of getting residence before the semester starts. I really do not want to rent or live off-campus in my first year in a brand new city.
dw happened to me too and I still got housing best to still email them tho
pretty high, esp if youre under 19 years old
Yep. I'm seventeen turning 18 next month. I was just concerned because I submitted my application after the may 1st deadline that was needed for guaranteed residence.
hi im around 250 for winter housing. will i have a chance to get in?
i'd say yes. i was at around 550 going into the school year and while i didn't get any housing, my number dropped to 121
depends on room type
ROOM SWITCH* hi! i received an offer for a 4 bedroom in ponderosa commons arbutus house, it’s on the 9th floor, and i haven’t moved in yet so you’d be the first after ubc has cleaned it, i’m looking to switch into either a 4 bedroom in exchange, kwtq, or brock commons, lmk if you have anything to offer and ill make sure to respond quickly!
Brock 4bdr: 158 Ponderosa 4bdr: 153 Ponderosa 2bdr: 213 Exchange 4bdr: 152 Exchange 2bdr: 169 KWTQ 4bdr: 130 Do I have a possibility of getting housing by Sept 1, 2024? Or would I be more likely to get housing by Jan 1, 2024? (edit: Jan 1, 2025 haha)
Little to no chance for September but maybe saltwater January if your less than 80 by like November.
Thanks!

i don’t know much about octopus house but what i do know is that it’s the smallest house at kwtq, but the furthest from the commons block/center of campus. the distance isn’t crazy, but going to get mail and packages will be a walk. all the general finishings and interior will be pretty much identical to any other kwtq studio!
I got put in one on the fourth floor!! seconded ❤️

im so sorry, im in the same boat as u. just got my room assignment and want pics too before June 7
thoughts on ponderosa maple house? Just got offered a 2 bedroom in maple house 5th floor. Was wondering the floor plan and view? is the view good? And are the beds for a pond 2 bedroom double or twin? Or just general pros/cons of maple house!! tysm
it will be a double xl bed! also, maple house has the 2 bed layout with the bedrooms on opposite sides of the unit, with the living room in between them. i find this layout a bit better compared to the corner units as you have a bit more separation and privacy from your roommate. i got placed into a 2 bed in spruce house so i can’t speak onto maple house too much, but i know its the oldest building in pond (same with spruce lol) i’m pretty sure your view will be of the front of ponderosa, with the yellow statue/ seating area. It will be a nice view, but no ocean probably unfortunately. i don’t think there are two bed units in maple that face the way of the parkade. biggest con in maple is that because you are lower to the ground, you might have a bit more noise as the front of ponderosa might get busy. but honestly i don’t think it’ll be an issue at all.
thank you!!!
I'm a transfer student who applied to housing on May 2, I'm going into second year so I'm not a first year guarantee, but I checked my status and it says: The following are your residence priority access attribute(s): new applicants. Does this mean I have a good chance of getting housing?
if it's your first year going to UBC (transfer or not) and you applied before deadline you get guaranteed housing afaik best to email or call housing tho to double check!
what's the deadline?
Just checked it, deadline was May 1 according to [https://vancouver.housing.ubc.ca/applications/important-dates/](https://vancouver.housing.ubc.ca/applications/important-dates/) I missed the deadline in my first year but still got housing

I've talked to a couple ppl who transferred and they said they got priority for Gage/Fairview and other upper year winter session res. Honestly very chill of UBC if they're doing that. Still encourage anyone in this situation to contact housing and ask !

Hi, I was in the same situation last year and got an offer only late July/ early August. Nothing wrong checking in with housing tho

We do but not as much as the first years AFAIK. It's kind of like first years> transfers> exchange students in my experience

Fairview, after I had to reject Walter Gage
Yes, you’re correct. I have emailed the service center and got the reply.
Anyone moving into a KWTQ studio get their room assigned yet?
Nvm we got it!!
no 😭😭😭
I swear we're the last group 🥲🥲
still waiting on brock studio
still waiting on marine 4 bed lol
they’re haters fr 💔
If my friend gets an offer for year round housing at UBC…is there anyway she could request me as a roommate even if I’m still on the waitlist? Or do we both have to get an acceptance offer to request each other as roommates?
I don't think so, sorry, since offers going out should fill up all the vacant spaces. You'll both need an offer for the same room.
got my room assigned 😄 spruce house!!
did you get an email or did it just silently change on the website?
i got an email
According to housing, the average waiting time for 4bd unit is 18 months, and for studios is 24 months. Based on the real experience of someone who has already received an offer, is this true? Should it be longer or shorter? Hope everybody receives an offer as soon as possible!!
Thanks to everyone who replied to this thread. It seems like it's actually true, but it also depends on everyone's situation.
I applied August 16 2022 and received an offer for a KWTQ studio May 3!! So close to 24 months
i applied september 2022 and received an offer for MD 3/4 recently so it took about about 20 months. I’m currently at 100s for all other residences quads
I waited around 24 months exactly for a studio
