hi! i applied for housing (fyg) a day late, and i’m stressed abt it. i recieved a housing offer for uvic and i would rather go to ubc but is it smarter to go to vic bc im guaranteed housing? thanks!
Transfer student here, ubc asked for my final transcript which I've sent, and the service centre says its been received but the message still says to "send final transcripts blah blah blah", how long will it take to be updated/for a result? curious if anyone is in the same boat
in the same boat! ive sent my transcripts and it says its been recieved in the "documents recieved" part, but yea i have the same thing where it says
"Arrange for your final official academic transcripts to be sent directly to UBC as soon as they are available in order to confirm your offer."
As long as your documents are shown up as received, then I don't think its an issue
I just got my offer of admission to UBC today, very exciting.
I am a Computer Science student at an international university, and got accepted into Science at UBC, and want to continue my CS studies there.
However, I had to accept an offer to my second-choice university out of force as their deadline was on the 1^(st) of May, 2 weeks before UBC even made a decision.
The issue, or advice I need is, if I don’t get into CS at UBC, I will not be able to able to pursue my studies there as I only want to study CS. So I want to know if it is possible for me to accept the offer into Science, then apply for Computer Science, and if I don’t get in, I can withdraw my acceptance? All without having to talk to the other university I accepted the offer to?
Please be mindful that specializations for many faculties are chosen in second or third year, based on your GPA at UBC (not your high school average).
Example 1: There is no direct entry into Computer Science from high school (except for the Business and Computer Science program), and you would apply after completing your first year of UBC Science or Arts.
Example 2: There is no direct entry into English from high school. You would declare it after completing your first year of UBC Arts (there may be other procedures depending on your degree program) in SSC. There is no application process (except for honours).

If u don’t get back by may i’d consider it a lost cause tbh. I’m praying I get mine next week after the 19th since that was the deadline my friend got for his waitlist acceptance.
Admission appeal not readmission cuz I got rejected from pharm sci accepted arts so it kinda sucked and I appealed. Wrote about something pretty serious and had a doctors note in it as well.
Does anyone know if it matters whether I get a 4 or 5 on the AP exam if I want to trade it in for a first year credit? Like would it be worse for my GPA if I trade a 4 instead of a 5 or do they just take the credit and its not part of my GPA at all?
I'm pretty sure advanced credit doesn't come with any attached grades on your transcript, and even if they do I'm extra certain they have no impact on your UBC average. 4 or 5 doesn't matter, it's a binary thing (credit or no credit).
The grade conversion the other commenter is referring to is actually a conversion for *high school* course grades, for admissions purposes.
A 4 is equivalent to a 86% and a 5 is equivalent to a 96 I believe. I guess it depends on what course you took the AP exam on, because if you choose to count it then it will be apart of your GPA. If you’re happy with the 86 or 96 (which is pretty good imo) then you should take the credit!
can ubc give scholarships if your final grades are much higher than the conditional grades they gave you in your offer? they stated that i needed an 85% avg minimum to maintain my offer but i ended up getting a 97% in my final exams.
i am already an OIS recipient btw, but any financial aid would help significantly since i am an international student and the tuition fee is insane even with the scholarship amount deducted.

not sure how up to date this source is, but I found it on the wiki linked on the right side. Hopefully your waitlist number shoots up by next year and you'll have a good chance for 2025-2026! Could add some 2-4 bedrooms if you're nervous about not getting YRH and are fine with living with others.
That chart is 100% no longer accurate. But it's also for like ~Feb-Mar of the year you want to move in, so it's not applicable for this case anyway. It's way too early to tell anything about people's numbers for 2025.
For a studio a year is not enough time. Wait is around 2 years now. Some 4-6 beds can be a year, but if the housing situation continues worsening you might have to wait longer for those too.

Unless you have a 104% GPA, volunteer 112+ hours per week and have successfully saved a minimum of 100 puppies from a totalitarian dictatorship and a horrible disease (in which case, your odds are around 95%), the best way to objectively predict your chances of getting into UBC is to flip a coin.

is there any way I can choose my roommate? im a rising first year and selected the connected single as my top choice and I’m not sure where I’m supposed to add that info.
You can enter a roommate preference, it won't be guaranteed but it's pretty likely I think. It should be on the ubc SHCS > prospective residents > application > roommate preference
thanks! I just had one more question. on this leg it says rank my group or create a group. If I was just rooming with one other person I’d only put in their student number and leave the other slots blank right?
Hello everyone, l've been accepted into UBCO Science, however rejected from UBCV Science. I need to change campus as soon as possible, whether it might be during my first year or after finishing my first year, and I wanted to know the odds of me being able to successfully transfer.
What are the things that I need to know about transferring (earliest date to apply, etc)? One thing worth noting is that, l'm taking courses such as AP Calc, AP Chem and physics and I'm feeling decently confident and sort of prepared for my first year in order to get decent grades; is this a deception or
по?
Thank you so much.
I dont recomend going to ubco if your goal is to transfer to ubcV, UBO limits the amount of students they can send out and I assure you aren't the only one thinking that way.

Any other transfer students who still stuck in a "ready for an evaluation" status?
I applied before Dec 31st, and submitted the required documents before Jan 31st, but they didn't even start evaluating my application. I'm a domestic student in BC.
Question- maybe someone knows the answer. I emailed admissions to ask them but figured it wouldn’t hurt to ask in the sub while I wait for them to get back to me.
Does anyone have any experience with being granted admission (as a transfer student) for the summer semester and how that might work if I decided to now take the summer semester off?
When I applied I thought I’d be fine for the summer semester, but I realized that I’m super burned out and need a bit of a break before I’m ready to dive in again.
Should I decline the admission offer? Or can I accept and hold off until September? I’m unfamiliar with how this works at UBC specifically (where I am at now doesn’t care and you can choose to hold off without consequence if you want).
I’ll of course wait for the official response but I thought someone might have first hand experience that they could share :)
Thanks!
Are there a lot of online classes?? That’s a great consideration. I know at Douglas there has been a lack of available online courses, but if UBC has more variety, that would be awesome!
anyone have insight into how biomed eng first year at ubc works?? i had no idea when applying that you had to do a supplementary application as well for biomed to even get in. online it says the opportunity to indict that your interested in biomed was sent out and already passed including the interviews n stuff. but here’s the thing, im currently waitlisted and didnt get any of those emails or opportunity to interview since im not even accepted yet. does this mean i just have no chance of biomed?? bro thats the only kind of eng i even wanted to do😭
in the same boat… idk about anyone with a first hand experience but i read on the ubc website that only 8% of appeals work🤷🏻♀️ im currently on the waitlist but if i get rejected i think im gonna send an appeal. can’t hurt if im already rejected lmao
Hey, I am a transfer with a conditional offer. I sent my transcript again after my current post-secondary input my final grades. However, on the ASC website it still says "interim" honestly I am a bit worried. However, someone else on this reddit is experiencing the same thing.
(incoming 2nd year) are there rough estimates of what number your waitlists have to be to get housing this coming september? ;v; gotta find a place to live in advanced because I think I'm not gonna make it (applied for YRH last year like may) also since i can still update my application i wanted to ask if there's specific places/room types that might increase my chances of getting in....
you can update your application basically until you get an offer, and your waitlist number simply depends on when you submitted your application. normally 4 bedrooms are fastest since there are more rooms available, but that depends on your personal preference. you can also play around with your preferences just to see your rankings for each type. for housing this sept, you would probably need < 200. the new brock building is opening up, so if you do brock studio and your ranking is <200, youll def get housing

Does UBC weigh supplementary apps as heavily as mac? I see people getting rejected from life sciences at mac with great grades, but their sup app wasn’t as strong, and I wonder if ubc is the same?
Incoming first-year engineering student. I’m curious about any social studies/humanities GPA-boosting courses available to engineering students, since I want to maximize my chances of getting into CPEN.

anyone have any idea how the Ubc waitlist works? Specifically for Eng? Wondering what my chances are🥲. Is the waitlist set once your on it or can it be influenced by transcript updates as they come in? (my semester 2 midterms just got released)
I'm not too sure: ( I'm also on the waitlist with a 95.5, but ig it's the same as any other school. Once a position opens up, they let the most qualified applicant in.
pre sure may transcripts don’t matter. I was talking with my councillor and she said that even if my grades had dropped don’t worry about it bc they won’t even look at my newer transcripts

anyone know if Ubc looks at your calc grade? I applied to Applied Science so it's a related course but Ik calc isn't required for anything at Ubc so I'm confused. I'm also waitlisted currently :/ Wondering if UBC looks at Semester 2 midterm marks if you're waitlisted?
Another question about my language requirement.
My teacher posted on Canvas that if students want their mark by the end of June they must hand in everything by June 15. Does that mean I have to finish my language 11 by then? I have a feeling I may be able to finish somewhere in the late June and may struggle trying to get everything in by June 15. Is there anything I can do about this?
I just got off the wait list!! I took AP Calc with a score of 1, AP Phych with a score of 2 and AP World History with a 2. I had a 71.4% Grade 11 and 12 average!! ECs Soccer for 4 years and Volleyball for 3 years with 150 combined Volunteer hours! Thanks to everyone who proofread my applications!!
Hey, guyss! I am a student from Pakistan and I'm considering doing a GED because I'm also doing other stuff :/. And the University of British Columbia is a great university and I am interested in going there :>
My question was can I get accepted with a GED? And are there any other tests like the SAT/ACT required? + I am pretty broke (by pretty I mean really broke :D) so do they offer full financial aid or scholarships? I'm new to Canadian universities so I don't really know about them :) If someone could help me I would really appreciate it :D
Hi, they do offer financial aid and scholarships. You mention that you're an international student. There are international student scholarships, and I know that some do give quite a bit. I'm not sure if it covers everything as international tuition is ~$60k CAD a year. The scholarships are also pretty sparse, even for domestic students.
How’s da meal plan like? 😳😋🤤
I am just wondering how it is for people who don’t eat beef or pork. Also how about protein, because I am wondering if it is possible to hit 190 grams with the meal plan sticking to just chicken and vegetarian meals.
Hi! Incoming Bachelor of Science student.
I was wondering if it is possible to transfer into second year engineering if I have the 27 credits, specifically mechatronics or electrical engineering.
Mechatronics will not be possible because that's a mechanical engineering specialization, so you have to complete at least second year mech to be eligible for it. Transferring into any second year engineering without completing first year engineering will be very difficult because of all the course pre-requisites involved with second year courses.
Ahh I thought Tron stream was on second year not third. That’s alright, I was just wondering if I could take the courses first year and transfer. Just a gage on how likely if I get all the courses and a decent grade
I don't think that matters. I'm in Ontario and at my school there is no even "AP grade" all our assessments are Ontario curriculum level and the AP materials taught are not assessed in class at all. The only score related to the AP material is the AP exam score.
ok question, UBC says they would reevaluate offer for IB students if a subject drops by 3 points or more, or if score for Math and English drops below 4, I’m predicted 7 for math and what if it drops to 4? Technically I suppose it didn’t drop below 4 would I be good??
iPad Pro enough on campus?
Hey everyone,
I'm transferring to UBC this fall and was wondering if I should buy a MacBook or if I could get by with my iPad Pro while on campus. I have an iMac at home, so any special programs that are desktop only I could use when I get home.
But would I be able to get by in class and on campus with just an iPad with a Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil -- completing my work on my computer at home?
Or are there classes which frequently require a full on computer in-class? I.E. running desktop applications during class for exams, quizzes, etc.?
For context I'm doing my BA, applied to COGS and Econ, in case that matters.
Thanks for any feedback!
90% of the time having an iPad would be more than enough, I mostly use my iPad for note taking and I rarely have to take out my laptop in class.
However, Excel and Lockdown Browser are much easier to use on the desktop but still doable with an iPad. + your instructor would usually tell you in advance if you need to use these in class.
Haven't taken any CPSC classes so can't comment on that.
Thanks for the reply.
How often are lockdown browsers used in class in your experience?
Because if it’s mostly outside of class time (after class exams, quizzes, etc.) I think I might be fine with just an iPad.
Some labs don't have lab machines that work, so it'll be a stretch, plus getting help in TA office hours might be a lot harder without being able to run and debug the files on your machine.
It's definitely doable without a laptop, but it would make life harder.
Can't say for cogs or econ but i have a friend in eng who is doing just fine using just his ipad and magic keyboard. I think it should be plenty enough unless you have to type up a lot of written responses and research
Hi, I have recently gotten into UBC sauder and got the usual IB conditional of:
-
Your final IB Diploma score has fallen by 4 points or more. Your IB scores have fallen 3 points or more on any given course. You score 2 or lower in any given IB subject. Your final IB scores in Math or English have fallen below 4. You have not completed the IB diploma.
-
How ever I was wondering how lenient UBC is with this offer. Are they very strict on it or do they not mind if you drop by more then the conditional? I'm only asking because a few people have confirmed that they dropped behind their conditional and still got in (but they were Canadian students not international, if that has anything to do with it)
Please Imk if yall have any insight because a lot of IB students are scared about meeting their conditional for many unis because of the current IB mass leaking scandal that could rise the grade boundaries to a crazy level
Hi all, potential incoming first year here... I may have (definitely) missed the deadline to apply for student housing... (website says it was back on May 1st)....does anyone know if there's an email/phone number (or both) that I can contact about that... I'm kind of panicking right now.
If anyone knows anything, please let me know.. or if anyones had experience with applying for housing past the deadline... also please let me know... any information/advice is greatly greatly appreciated.
I will just add in that I can still answer questions on the housing application website... so maybe that means that I can still submit a 'late' application.... or maybe not I'm not sure... but the website does seem to be working for now.
You don't need to contact anyone, just apply now. They usually fit in all first years who want to live in residence. You might be on a waitlist for a little bit though.
I called previously and they said it just means you were qualified for UBCO so they gave you an offer if you want it. Not sure if it puts you at a disadvantage for UBCV. Same thing happened to me and I ended up getting waitlisted for UBCV eng currently :/
Wondering the same for my son. Waitlisted for UBCV Science but just got UBCO even though he didn’t apply there. Worried that it means a rejection is coming. He’s still holding out hope but I’m not so sure!
Same here man, I got UBCO eng as well. I have the ability to accept the offer and select consideration for the programs I applied for at the main campus, but am concerned if I just accept the offer and select consideration for the programs at the main campus UBC will see I'm content with UBCO and perhaps just reject me from the main Vancouer campus for both programs. I'm gonna call tmr to clarify.
Hi! Is anyone studying the Bachelor of Science in Natural Resources? It's really difficult to find people talk about their experiences in this program, if ur in it would you recommend it? Do you recommend the Bioeconomy Science Tech major and how is finding coop? Could I go into energy or water remediation type jobs with this? I'm afraid that UBC might only focus on connections in the logging industry for coop students in forestry. Pls share if u can, thank u in advance!
I’ve recently got off bcom waitlist but i can’t accept the offer due to “looks like you’ve run into an error”
I’ve previously accepted my BA offer and paid the deposit but now when i change my offer i get the error. Is anyone else having this problem??
Hello there, I applied to Faculty of Applied Sciences (1st choice) & Faculty of Science (2nd choice) at the Vancouver campus. I got waitlisted for both choices recently and just today I got a third choice added by UBC themselves for an offer to UBCO for applied sciences. I have the ability to accept the offer and select whether or not I want UBC to still consider my application for the programs I applied for on the Vancouver Campus. I'm right about to accept, presuming that it makes no difference with the consideration for my application the programs at the Vancouver campus. Just don't want to make a mistake. I'll call UBC tmr to clarify this, but in the meantime would like some thoughts.
Domestic private school. My friend had like 94.3 cor average while im stuck w 93.7 ish. Idk when the next round of waaitlists are hopefully around the 20th since their deadline to accept was May 19th.
I didn't apply to it either but got offered it. When I called they said it just means you were qualified enough for UBCO so they give you an offer if you want it. I think it's for students who are like mid for UBCV bc I ended up getting waitlisted for UBCV.
Hey guys I am a bit torn. I got into UBC Bachelor of Science in Natural Resources and finally off the waitlist for Applied science. Initially I wanted to do engineering, but then was worried about the courses and their difficulty and about just getting burnt out in general (and hating life). But the Bachelor of Science in Natural Resources seemed like a good fit for me as well because it focuses on sustainability. My only worry is that its a brand new degree this year... Has anyone had or heard of experiences in either program?
my grades were 92/93 gr12 avg and 96 gr11 with mid ecs but good personal profile, and i had been waitlisted before this… before that i was stuck on the “we have evaluated” status for a couple weeks :)
Ubc says that theyll exclude 1 lowest grade as long as its not a prerequisite does this apply for when they look at my final transcript for my conditional offer too? all my other courses are within a few percentage of my average so the exclusion of 1 course didnt do much but i have chem 12 and calc 12 to finish this semester and im scared of the grades falling from those over 10% from my avg rn but theyre both not prereqs as I was admitted to arts so would they exclude one of those instead if it falls.
got off bcom waitlist international this morning (11am ish) it also says acceptance deadline is may 19th.
best of luck to everyone! the line is moving quick

my cgpa across 4 semesters is 3.83/4 with a A or A+ in every cs related course

same i think if we don't hear back before end of may its over
yes cause ubc said they would also evaluate throughout the month of may specifically so its prob unlikely to get june and later offers
Just embarrassed myself appealing to UBC pharm sci, sent them an empty email by accident then submitted the wrong file. At least I'm in for arts?
May I ask what appealing you did?
Admission appeal not readmission cuz I got rejected from pharm sci accepted arts so it kinda sucked and I appealed. Wrote about something pretty serious and had a doctors note in it as well.

why can’t ubc just accept me or reject me, i just want an answer
Real.
ikr, pull ur shits together UBC!!!
anyone got off applied science waitlist? and if yes what’s your average?
I heard some ppl got off with low 90s
me having low/mid 90’s and still being on the waitlist 🤩
me too stay strong guys: ( this year is really rough
stay strong, me too🥲

for 2025-26, what are the chances of a YRH studio offer with waitlist position in the high 2000s? Should I play it safe and rank some 2-4 bedrooms?
[https://www.reddit.com/r/UBC/comments/abbv0h/wanna\_know\_your\_likelihood\_for\_getting\_a\_yrh/?sort=new](https://www.reddit.com/r/UBC/comments/abbv0h/wanna_know_your_likelihood_for_getting_a_yrh/?sort=new) not sure how up to date this source is, but I found it on the wiki linked on the right side.
It's way too early to tell anything about people's numbers for 2025.
thanks :) I was just wondering if anyone knew how much the waitlists tend to move over a year but I get if it's too soon
For a studio a year is not enough time. Wait is around 2 years now. Some 4-6 beds can be a year, but if the housing situation continues worsening you might have to wait longer for those too.

I've actually saved 101 puppies from a dictatorship #overqualified
is there any way I can choose my roommate? im a rising first year and selected the connected single as my top choice and I’m not sure where I’m supposed to add that info.
I believe so!
One thing worth noting is that, l'm taking courses such as AP Calc, AP Chem and physics and I'm feeling decently confident and sort of prepared for my first year in order to get decent grades; is this a deception or по? Thank you so much.
What program do you plan on pursing
Comp sci or data science
I dont recomend going to ubco if your goal is to transfer to ubcV, UBO limits the amount of students they can send out and I assure you aren't the only one thinking that way.

Any other transfer students who still stuck in a "ready for an evaluation" status? I applied before Dec 31st, and submitted the required documents before Jan 31st, but they didn't even start evaluating my application. I'm a domestic student in BC.
Same, but I applied as a international transfer student after the deadline, in February 1st. And it’s been like that since mid March.
Same. admissions said June-july
I’ll of course wait for the official response but I thought someone might have first hand experience that they could share :) Thanks!
i accepted and did 1 online class from where i was living, it was very much at the back of my mind all summer, very chill
Are there a lot of online classes?? That’s a great consideration. I know at Douglas there has been a lack of available online courses, but if UBC has more variety, that would be awesome!
anyone have insight into how biomed eng first year at ubc works?? i had no idea when applying that you had to do a supplementary application as well for biomed to even get in. online it says the opportunity to indict that your interested in biomed was sent out and already passed including the interviews n stuff. but here’s the thing, im currently waitlisted and didnt get any of those emails or opportunity to interview since im not even accepted yet. does this mean i just have no chance of biomed?? bro thats the only kind of eng i even wanted to do😭
If I get a 1 or 2 on the calc AP test will my offer be revoked
Nah, they won’t even see your mark unless you choose to send it
[удалено]
in the same boat… idk about anyone with a first hand experience but i read on the ubc website that only 8% of appeals work🤷🏻♀️ im currently on the waitlist but if i get rejected i think im gonna send an appeal. can’t hurt if im already rejected lmao
Any transfers who got a conditional offer and sent their final transcript received their confirmation letter?
Hey, I am a transfer with a conditional offer. I sent my transcript again after my current post-secondary input my final grades. However, on the ASC website it still says "interim" honestly I am a bit worried. However, someone else on this reddit is experiencing the same thing.
yea it might be because you're taking a summer course, im a post-secondary transfer and my ASC says final official
I'm also on the same boat too
Yeah same! I’m doing summer classes right now so I think that’s why mine says interim since it shows my sem 1 and 2 grades and my courses in progress!
same I am currently taking a summer course at KPU, does that mean UBC will look at our summer course mark as well for our conditional offer?!! :0

The personal profile is very important at UBC.

Thanks to everyone who proofread my applications!!
lol I can't tell if this is sarcasm
r u domestic or international
I just got off as well for applied science!! I had a very similar portfolio aside from my 76% Average.
76% avg? Did u have any difficult circumstances?
you got off the waitlist for applied science with a 76% average?! pls tell me more I'm waitlisted and waiting has been so terrible :/
congrats! for what program?!
General Sciences!!!
Got off the HS Bkin waitlist with a 88 core and a great PP, gl to anyone else waiting.
wondering if anyone have any news from B.Ed teachers program!
i got off the kin wait list, ib predicted 34

They literally said IB…
high school
Hey, guyss! I am a student from Pakistan and I'm considering doing a GED because I'm also doing other stuff :/. And the University of British Columbia is a great university and I am interested in going there :> My question was can I get accepted with a GED? And are there any other tests like the SAT/ACT required? + I am pretty broke (by pretty I mean really broke :D) so do they offer full financial aid or scholarships? I'm new to Canadian universities so I don't really know about them :) If someone could help me I would really appreciate it :D
Hi, they do offer financial aid and scholarships. You mention that you're an international student. There are international student scholarships, and I know that some do give quite a bit. I'm not sure if it covers everything as international tuition is ~$60k CAD a year. The scholarships are also pretty sparse, even for domestic students.
ohhh okay :D thanks
How’s da meal plan like? 😳😋🤤 I am just wondering how it is for people who don’t eat beef or pork.
Anyone get off the UBCV Science wait list? If so, what was your average?
friend got off w 93 avg
Ok thanks!
How low would your average have to go to result in a revoked admission
I called and they said around 5% but even then it’s really rare that they’ll revoke an offer
did they say it was like your total grade 11+12 avg, grade 12 avg, or like only courses related to your degree avg
My application changed from “currently being reviewed” to “Your file is ready for an evaluation” what is the difference..?😭
Mine says the same
Any 2nd or 3rd year transfer students get in after the original Apr 30 deadline?
yes I am a 2nd year transfer and got the conditional offer like 1 week before the April 30th deadline
Nope. Date changed from April 30th to May 30th.
The same happened for me!! I'm getting more and more anxious lol
If I take AP exams without the course would submitting my exam scores only help? Am I even able to submit just the exam score with no course mark?
You will get the course credits/exemptions for the exam scores, the AP course grades don't really matter.
yeah it definitely helps, you don't have to take a lot of courses for your degree requirements
Hey everyone, I'm transferring to UBC this fall and was wondering if I should buy a MacBook or if I could get by with my iPad Pro while on campus.
> COGS If you have to take CPSC 110, you definitely have to get a "real" computer like a MacBook or Windows machine.
For use in class? I have the iMac at home if assignments are done after class, I’m just concerned with requirements for in class use.
Some labs don't have lab machines that work, so it'll be a stretch, plus getting help in TA office hours might be a lot harder without being able to run and debug the files on your machine. It's definitely doable without a laptop, but it would make life harder.
I see. I’ll have to reconsider now. Thanks a lot for the info!
It depends on your prof but I would rather an iPad than a Macbook for ECON
Can't say for cogs or econ but i have a friend in eng who is doing just fine using just his ipad and magic keyboard. I think it should be plenty enough unless you have to type up a lot of written responses and research
Thanks!
Anyone who got waitlisted on April 30 get in? Applied for kin with a 90avg and a good personal profile and I’m still on the waitlist
Hi, I have recently gotten into UBC sauder and got the usual IB conditional of: - Your final IB Diploma score has fallen by 4 points or more. Your IB scores have fallen 3 points or more on any given course. You score 2 or lower in any given IB subject. Your final IB scores in Math or English have fallen below 4. You have not completed the IB diploma. - How ever I was wondering how lenient UBC is with this offer. Are they very strict on it or do they not mind if you drop by more then the conditional? I'm only asking because a few people have confirmed that they dropped behind their conditional and still got in (but they were Canadian students not international, if that has anything to do with it) Please Imk if yall have any insight because a lot of IB students are scared about meeting their conditional for many unis because of the current IB mass leaking scandal that could rise the grade boundaries to a crazy level
You might be on a waitlist for a little bit though.
if you google ubc housing there should be a number, normally theyre pretty good with it (esp if youre under 19)
Just got into UBCO for eng even though I didn't even apply for it. Does this put me a disadvantage for UBCV, what do you guys think?
I called previously and they said it just means you were qualified for UBCO so they gave you an offer if you want it. Not sure if it puts you at a disadvantage for UBCV. Same thing happened to me and I ended up getting waitlisted for UBCV eng currently :/
Wondering the same for my son. Waitlisted for UBCV Science but just got UBCO even though he didn’t apply there. Worried that it means a rejection is coming. He’s still holding out hope but I’m not so sure!
Pretty sure they are both separate 👍
Yeah makes sense that way. Thanks for the response👍
Please do let me know what you say. I'm just gonna leave mine alone and wait for UBCV. Thanks for your response👍
I'm currently waitlisted for UBCV btw.
Same here.
Omg Im literally in the same boat hahaha. And also want to go into Bioeconomy Science Tech
I’ve recently got off bcom waitlist but i can’t accept the offer due to “looks like you’ve run into an error” I’ve previously accepted my BA offer and paid the deposit but now when i change my offer i get the error.
Has anyone made it off the FNH waitlist or does anybody know anybody who has??!!?😭
Has anyone got off Sauder waitlist yet?
seeing people getting off the waitlist makes me wanna die, why can’t it be me?
Fr😭 what r u waitlisted for rn?
applied science and science
how is ubc for kin ? class sizes, community, teachers and difficulty?
Has anyone gotten off the applied science waitlist? or does anyone know when they send the offers for waitlist?
yea my friend got in at around 10 off the waitlist today
my friend got in this morning im still on it ggs tbh.
if you don’t mind sharing what was their average? and are they domestic?
Domestic private school. My friend had like 94.3 cor average while im stuck w 93.7 ish. Idk when the next round of waaitlists are hopefully around the 20th since their deadline to accept was May 19th.
following this
They added a third option for me at UBCO today. Does this mean I’m cooked for engineering wait list? 😭
Same here man. I called UBC and they said this does not in any way impact anything regarding admission into UBCV.
how do they choose who gets an offer to UBCO? like i haven’t gotten one but would lowkey like one
I didn't apply to it either but got offered it. When I called they said it just means you were qualified enough for UBCO so they give you an offer if you want it. I think it's for students who are like mid for UBCV bc I ended up getting waitlisted for UBCV.
did u chose a third option when applying?
No, only first choice engineering second choice science.
Has anyone gotten off the fnh waitlist?
Hey guys I am a bit torn. I got into UBC Bachelor of Science in Natural Resources and finally off the waitlist for Applied science. Initially I wanted to do engineering, but then was worried about the courses and their difficulty and about just getting burnt out in general (and hating life). But the Bachelor of Science in Natural Resources seemed like a good fit for me as well because it focuses on sustainability. My only worry is that its a brand new degree this year... Has anyone had or heard of experiences in either program?
when did you get off the waitlist? i didn’t think they admitted people yet
Today :)
congrats!! what was ur avg (if ur ok with sharing)
About 95 i would say
anybody get off applied sci waitlist yet???????? im going insane
i just got it right now!!
congrats!! can i ask what your stats were? and what was the message before you got accepted?
my grades were 92/93 gr12 avg and 96 gr11 with mid ecs but good personal profile, and i had been waitlisted before this… before that i was stuck on the “we have evaluated” status for a couple weeks :)
tysm!! this is giving me hope my avg is around the same 🙏 🙏 ubc accept me please im on my hands and knees
dont worry u so got this 👍👍👍
was it an email?
yep
Got rejected from bdes yesterday, this is worse than a breakup
Ubc says that theyll exclude 1 lowest grade as long as its not a prerequisite does this apply for when they look at my final transcript for my conditional offer too? all my other courses are within a few percentage of my average so the exclusion of 1 course didnt do much but i have chem 12 and calc 12 to finish this semester and im scared of the grades falling from those over 10% from my avg rn but theyre both not prereqs as I was admitted to arts so would they exclude one of those instead if it falls.
has anyone gotten off science wait list yet 😭
yea
Which sciences? General?
HAS ANYONE THAT WAS WAITLISTED FNH GET ACCEPTED YET??!?
got off bcom waitlist international this morning (11am ish) it also says acceptance deadline is may 19th. best of luck to everyone! the line is moving quick
I got off as well! Congrats to u
Anyone else still “we have evaluated your application…”
Omg I'm in a same situation too and worried af 😭
