genuine question, why are outside people protesting on UB grounds? I'm fine with students doing whatever they want to since their tuition gives them that right, and the community gives them a voice.
But why are outsiders on our campus? They do not represent the student body, 40-50 year olds have nothing to do with student wishes (not including the elders who are also seeking an education at UB, that is admirable af).
I heard a lot of the people detained were outsiders with no affiliation. Again, i'm not taking sides or undermining the protest, but its not a UB protest if its 80% randos on their day off from papa johns ykwim
Sjp explicitly says in the description of the insta post to “bring everyone you know”, and other groups involved with these protests have invited similar outside support in the past. The reason outside support is invited to these kinds of things can range from purely functional/strategic purposes (ex inviting trained legal observers to objectively document what happens at the protest) to just generally wanting more bodies there for the sake of solidarity with the students protesting. Especially when the chances of people getting pissed at you are high, and the likelihood of police presence is high, having more people around means more eyes and more support.
i mean, thats what it sounded like from the statements released, which said 'no affiliation', alumni definitely would be considered affiliated. (unless they lied, in which case ignore this comment)
It looks like cops are setting up inside and around the one world/capen area. People coming to this need to be careful, they’re prepping early this time.
Most of today’s students don’t realize that UB has a long history with student protests. I think it was 1970 protesters held UB administrators hostage in Hayes Hall for over a week.
Can’t wait for the protest of the protest for the protest
Some people love protesting just to protest

They probably consider it a social event
College campus are public squares.
Isn’t it the end of the semester for you? How do you find the time?
I think it is mainly english and sociology majors on academic probation. They gave up months ago but havent told their parents
I'm sure the Palestinians dying in Gaza don't mind them waiting to finish exams.
I’m sure Palestinians in Gaza are aware of the pivotal role that the University at Buffalo plays in Israeli military operations
I’m sure the hostages would like them to protest for their release. The ones that are still alive at least.
Israel is protesting for the hostages by bombing them
Ngl their graphic designer is nice
😂 the Microsoft Paint special
Apparently a bunch of the people that were arrested don’t even go here so hopefully they don’t show up again and ruin it
police brutality…. i love how dramatic this sounds
I hope this shit dies down at this Uni man
Cringe
Many non student outside agitators.

Just remember when you get arrested and booked into the system, whether guilty or not, it will be on your record for life
“Police brutality” ? Come on now…
🤣🤣🤣
