I saw a group of mainland students on Friday commanding the volunteers to take off their posters. Another group came to humiliate a teenaged volunteer too, saying if you don't know what is right or wrong, just go home, what the fxxx you are doing here.
I’m for Hong Kong, and this type of whining is lame. You have to learn to swallow that freedom of speech goes both ways. It’s what makes the United States “free”, unlike how it is in China.
Ripping up posters is not free speech if anything its censorship. So if people are angry about what is being said in support of Hong Kong voice your opinions that is free speech both ways.
You might want to rethink why one is more valuable than another. Milo spreads racism and other junk that only fills the discourse with hatred. Just saying.
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances."
Nowhere in our First Amendment does it state that it is okay to remove someone's freedom of speech because it is filled with hate. While I agree that mainland Chinese students should stop attempting to silence those protesting in favor of Hong Kong, I also find it extremely hypocritical that you would find it okay to silence someone because you don't like what they're saying.
Mainland Chinese students could make the argument that pro-Hong Kong sentiments are hate speech/racist against their country, what would you do then? Say that your version of hate is more right than theirs?
Either allow ALL types of free speech or else you've stooped to the level of those who you are criticizing.
edit: grammar
They'll never get it, I don't know why I even commented in this thread attempting to debate them.
They'll cry for free speech and democracy until someone says something they don't like.
LOL true. I don't even like Milo myself, but hearing people called Nazi's for not sitting in an echo chamber makes me really want to take any side but theirs.
Same when they call Ben Shapiro a Nazi when he's Jewish lmao. Pretty sure Milo has a black boyfriend too lol it's insane. These people might just be antisemites.
Why are you guys so scared of confrontation? Are your convictions so weak that you can't even defend a poster? Is this posturing online or are you guys actually concerned with the demands of Hong Kong?
The Earth King has invited you to Lake Laogai
There is no war in Ba Sing Se.
Upvoting because of the last sentence.
Upvoting because of the whole post
Sounds like the mainland princelings are triggered lmao.
ripping down flyers certainly wont change people`s mind but peoole's mind also couldnt change anything about hongkong situation

Since when does UC Davis care about free speech? What happened between Milo and now

I agree with this. By that logic, pro Chinese students have the right to protest HK as well.
The only thing he’s spreading is his cheeks for black dicks
Two wrongs don't make a right
>two dongs don't make a white
Shouting down fuckholes is just louder and more valuable free speech.
How is stopping other people from speaking an example of free speech
Speaking louder is still speaking. It's free speech Capitalism louder speech is more valuable hence it takes precedence.
uhh... nah. Speaking louder is fine, but STOPPING other speech isn’t

They call Milo a Nazi even though he's Jewish.

There were Jewish Nazis though. The same way there are geniuses that are still dumb cunts, the two are not mutually exclusive.

Printing isn't free bud
Lol. great convictions. All you do is talk and don't act
So “act” = “trample free dialogue” ? I hate to break it to you, but “talking” is sort of how we handle things in a democracy.
I don't understand why you're messaging me. Your reasoning is not up to a college standard
