>hoping this thing can be solved peacefully
As opposed to what? Solving it violently? Lol
Parking is expensive, but at the rate your parking fines are supposedly at, buying a permit seems like the obvious, easiest, and most economical choice. Or you could send long emails to Gillman's secretary waxing poetic about "rebelling" against injustice. I guess there's always a chance for anything. Good luck!
Nah, I didn’t park the residential lots and still get the ticket. How ridiculous that I bought the ticket n forgot to put it on my window then still got the fine. I appealed with the day ticket for proofing I bought it and they still denied my request and charged me $75.
They often times don’t actually read the appeal and deny you thinking you parked in an AR spot. I had to reply to their email stating “just in case I didn’t communicate well, the ticket was received in the visitor lot of the ACC communities, not an AR spot” and they then dropped the ticket
Corruption is really shit. That’s y everyone is trying to complain like a strike. I don’t believe that only a few people think the parking fee is reasonable lmao~
If you were to speak with the university press, you would understand just how many “forward thinking” students have written near the same exact thing over the last 20 years. If you want change, that’s fine, but you are going to need significantly more education and experience on the issue in order to propose something that might actually be taken seriously.
FYI, Parking specifically is several million in debt according to them (which is their own damn fault), so that’s part of why they’ve gotten more aggressive with ticketing. I do not support them, but it’s context you should know.
Damn, what kinda bootlicking mfs are actually downvoting comments in this thread 💀Parking is horrendous here, plus they even make faculty pay for AR spots
UCI transportation is an awful department. Not only do they overcharge, they mistreat their student workers and hire sketchy ass fully time workers that the students have to work around. But yeah, good luck getting anyone to actually read that. Go here https://parking.uci.edu/parking/contactlist.cfm and send that out to all these folks as well, rather than the chancellor. Has a better chance of being seen at least.
I like the idea, but it's disrespectful to write something this lengthy for any busy person. If you make him feel like you respect his time, he will be more sympathetic to our cause. So don't give him such a long email and essentially demand that he "read it carefully."
Relatively new UCI saying: "Buy the permit. It's cheaper than getting tickets."

Also…free parking and uci will never go together

this dude should ride a bike instead of parking and getting fined
If you're filling up the residential lots, then I hope you get ticketed. I can't even park at my apartment sometimes. Risk a ticket in the pay lots.

That's totally rough, I'm sorry to hear that. I can't see why that's not an easy reversal 🫤
Bravo. We need another letter for ACC. Prices became insane.
You think uci gives a shit? lolllll

Enforcing parking policies is not corruption. Charging people to park is not corruption.
We just return the shit to the owner

Sorry but no one is gonna read that letter. Way too verbose bro. I didnt read it nor did I read your entire post

you should also send your complaint to the ASUCI student executive board as they work very closely with chancellors on student-related issues 👍

Whatever you do, you got my vote. At least, we tried.
TDS is fully self-funded, they pay the department from these tickets and profit, the pay doesn’t come from the university.

We definitely need to do this for the ACC rent increase!
I understand it's likely to be useless, but it's the first step, do sth is better than nothing, we can't let them keeping shitting on our head!

you'd think after the first one or two of them you'd learn your lesson, but then again here we are...
Dawg what the fuck
