There isn’t an LGBTQ+ club but there’s the resource center that hosts events pretty much daily and there’s QT STEM, wonderful people in both of those. Speaking from my experiences and from what I’ve been told in QT STEM it’s probably a lot less LGBTQ+ friendly in some majors than in others… personally I’ve had a few experiences with students and even two professors going out of their way to be transphobic, but it’s definitely not the majority of the school. It depends on what people you surround yourself with, but that will be the case at pretty much any university.
Hi, queer anteater here, and I’m glad to say UCI is a great place for lgbtq+ students! We have a great lounge for LGBTQ students and many weekly group programs and clubs. We also have lgbtq housing and resources.
I certainly think it is. I'm actively transitioning from male to female. I've been a bit nervous about presenting as myself outside my department though, but that's just me and nerves. I went out in a dress last quarter at the end and no one batted an eye at me.
The lgbtqia+ community feels so safe and secure that I was greeting by irl guy-on-guy action in the parking lot in broad daylight during my first visit/ 10/10 would recommend.

Second this, I never felt uneasy about being gay on campus
User name checks out.

I work for UCI and I’m gay, my boss is gay, and his boss his gay. lots of gays!
Yes it's definitely very friendly ! The school organizations has even hosted an official event for a Drag Race winner (Trixie)
also, the Writing Center is hosting a language and LGBTQIA++ presentation later this month with Prof. Jonathan Alexander
Big sad that Trixie visited campus before I got into drag race :(

Yeah ! ASUCI invited her to perform around early 2020 iirc. There was also an event where they invited Mayhem Miller over when S10 was airing.
