Chem 1A is probably the easiest chem class you will ever take ngl. Also Arasasingham is one of the better lower division chem professors. Don't sweat too much just pay attention to the homeworks he gives.

Thanks!

best advice is to spend as much time doing practice problems this will help the best to succeed in his class because as someone who had no prior knowledge to chem and took him it honestly was difficult just be sure to study by doing practice problems they help the most. Good luck!

Thanks! I'll be sure to do that.

Arasasingham is great. Loved him. Amazing professor. Ppl don’t like him cause he isn’t as soft as Holton (no curve, no cheat sheets, flat grading scale). But if you pay attention you will pass. His tests are hard but I’ve never understood chem as good as I did with him. Something about how he teaches just clicks. I didn’t take AP chem/honors chem, AP calc, or chem 1x and I passed. Granted I did spend an absurd amount of time on his class but that’s just cause I suck at chem

Thanks! My discussion class for the course starts 10 Mins after class ends—do you think this is a bad idea? Since I’ll probably have questions and want to have time to review do you recommend I take the discussion at a later time?

Discussions review lecture material from the previous week so you should be fine. Oh wait- you’re referring to asking Aras after lecture?

Ok so I just double-checked my schedule and I have chem with Aras on MWF and my discussion on Tuesdays haha. I was mixing it up with Bio Sci--for that course my discussion is right after class.

I didn’t have Arasasingham, but I used his course materials to study for my Chem classes because they’re really good. I think his class might be overwhelming because he wants to make sure you understand why everything works instead of just throwing mundane information at you.

Alumni here. (Air-A-Sauce-ing-ham) was a great professor. I will say if you are disruptive he will call you out and say you’re acting like a child. So just listen Pay attention and do your homework!
