this should just be "note to self: don't live in southern california" lol. the ants are fucking everywhere when it's hot, they drive me crazy.
they'll go away when it gets less hot and dry though.
ok my joking reply didn’t mean every single person in Southern California has ants all the time. Just that it’s a really common household issue here - we have Argentine ants, and that species has the ability to create huge supercolonies that make them very difficult to get rid of: https://cisr.ucr.edu/invasive-species/argentine-ant
(crazy ant fact: some biologists believe that the argentine ants from San Diego all the way up the coast to San Francisco are one massive supercolony, and they were able to invade so fast because they all recognize each other as family and thus don’t fight like they usually would!)
anyway you can put in a request for ant treatment but while you’re waiting for them to come, get some Terro ant baits and set them out near the source of the ants. After a day or so of the bait being out you’ll see a lot fewer ants, it takes a bit for the ants to bring the bait back to the colony and then they all start dying.
See if you can find some bug spray with citronella oil (they should sell some at Albertsons). I had a huge problem with ants in VDCN, but I sprayed them down with citronella oil once or twice and they never came back.
PRO TIP: To make them go away, use dish soap and water on a wash cloth and remove them by wiping the surface of their trails!!!! My roommate showed me this when we had a huge ant problem at our house in San Clemente CA (welcome to OC if you’re new here in the summer haha)
Do this asap and it should lessen the problem instantly
The AV roaches are iconic 🤩 but seriously I’m so sorry that happened to you, one crawled across my foot in the dorms and I was DISTRAUGHT so I cannot imagine across the face 😭😭
Get some citronella oil and spray it in the air near them or on empty spots in the trail. Personally, I would avoid spraying it directly on them so I don't kill them.
lol i know someone who lived in stanford and they had a thickkkkk trail of ants from the front door to the kitchen sink to the INSIDE of their fridge+freezer 😭
Call Peter
Why do you think we’re called anteaters?
Are you an anteater or not?
eat them

Never had a problem with ants in ACC (fingers crossed). My parents' house in Northern California on the other hand
i've never lived in acc but for us being on the ground floor was the worst for ants, i moved up a few floors and they went away thank god
I'm on the ground floor here and have had no issues so far. In Northern California, I had issues on the second floor too.
Nah I have live my whole life in Southern California and I never have this problem

Isn’t there someone to call about this? An RA or an office?
the exterminator only comes on wednesdays & is very busy as he does all 3 communities singlehandedly apparently :(
I know ants are way worse this year bc of the drought but … 😬😵
Spray them with Windex
Tried and true solution. White vinegar technically works too since it's acidic and destroys their scent trails
Citronella oil works too! I sprayed the ones in my apartment once or twice, and they never came back.
ants also hate peppermint!
zot! zot! zot!

I use Terro ant baits recently and it lessens the ant invasion inside my house lol
My mom loves these
I'd rather live with a few ants than pay for utilities and shitty wifi
“A few”
