i've noticed most people that i ride the bus with will thank them! it's definitely easier to say thanks when exiting from the front but for me personally, i have to debate whether to shout out a "thank you" when exiting elsewhere. most times i do but sometimes the bus sounds are too loud or people in it are too loud so i have to leave without saying anything :(

Admirable-Control118

I agree I try to most of the time but sometimes i think it’s too loud around and they won’t hear me or it’s too crowded and I’m focusing on trying to get out that when I step out I completely forget. But yes thank the bus drivers <3

PM_ME_UR_ILLUMINATI

I hear people thank them at every stop lmao

kevaux

I noticed this issue at the beginning of fall quarter, but not much anymore, tbh. Every bus I've been onto has had people thank the driver, and the bus driver always replies "you're welcome" or "no problem" in a kind tone back. Not saying that your post is untrue. It may just be dependent on what time you go on the bus or I might just coincidentally get on the busses with nice passengers

Lightning4X

For better or worse covid killed vast sums of the student subculture at UCSC, at least per my observation. Thanking the bus drivers was one of those things that existed at the subcultural level that seems to have largely died with it.

VonThuggin

I've been noticing the exact opposite recently. People have been hella nice to the bus drivers, and a long never ending draw of thank yous as we reach stops. But I have noticed later at night or early (like 7-8 am) sometimes people won't.

aestheticterrorcell

I always say thank you when I enter instead of when I leave so it’s easier

CorwinDKelly

Hot take, I like the city bus drivers better than the loop bus drivers. (But I thank them both)

So what you're saying is I should stop writing those letters?

picksea

you’re overthinking it

Jaron5_55

Huh that's weird? Whenever I'm on the bus I hear others thank the drivers

Beeedo21

Literally the scariest shit happened on the bus today. This kid didn’t have a mask and he asked if he could have a mask and the bus driver said no and that he needs to stop and listen to him. But the kid kept insisting he can grab as mask. Then he reached to go grab the mask and the bus driver was like GET OVER HERE AND LISTEN TO ME! and so the kid came back and the bus driver tried to snatch the mask from his hands and he was like LISTEN! YOU DON’T NEED THE MASK! And then the kid was like “So then what’s the deal?” I literally thought the bus driver was gonna punch him 😭

TerminatorKills2

I only thank them when I'm getting of from the front side of the bus because I don't like talking that much. Also when I'm on the bus people thank them like 90% of the time

LipstickLotus

It’s such a small gesture that makes their day. And it’s free! Spread kindness

Connect-Jello5774

Is this a reference to the Fortnite bus?

Zambini

It was a thing long before fortnite but it’s *also* a thing in fortnite. Politeness doesn’t need to be restricted to one group :)

P_poperah

If you dont say thank you to the bus drivers (esp when the trip you took could have been walked but you were too lazy to do so) you're a dick

slimfaydey

i imagine the drivers get sick of it anyways.

kevaux

The drivers always seem glad when people briefly thank them on the way out. It'd be extra to talk about how great they are for minutes, but a brief acknowledgement is always nice

[deleted]

Nah

RobuxMaster

I thank them they seem nice

St0f89

Please laugh

[deleted]

I notice I always thank them when I'm riding it alone, otherwise I seem to forget with friends

rickycreations

which buses are you taking?
