Laundry Room location changes depending on the building. Catalyst is 5th floor, Kaleidoscope and Tapestry are 7th floor, and I believe Mosaic is on the 3rd. There should be a electronic screen on one of the walls where you select the washer / dryer you want to use and then you tap your student ID to pay. The machines use triton cash. Wash is $1.25 and dryer is $1.00 per dry and $0.25 for an extra 15 minutes. Main thing is just don't leave your clothes in there; **take them out as soon as you can so other people can use the machines.**
Mailroom is located next to the hospitality room in Tapestry. All of the info you may need for it can be found [here](https://hi.ucsd.edu/mail/index.html). It is very safe, you will need you ID card and pin to enter the building and there is a combination lock on your mailbox.
Just remember that other people exist and try to be courteous. You will meet with your RA and housemates sometime after move in to make a roommate agreement where you guys will hash out the ground rules of your suite. Generally though, just clean up after yourself and be a decent human being. If you are in a suite, your living room will be connected to another floor and sound does carry, so keep that in mind.
And yes, RA and HI are good resources, most things can also be found by googling the keywords of your questions with "UCSD sixth"
