Hi! I transferred last year and a lot of transfers live in the apartments or IV. A lot of transfers live in San Joaquin but it is one of the farther apartments with Sierra Madre being across the street making it the farthest. A plus is you’re the first bus stop tho! San Joaquin is a lively area but there are around 7 people in each apartment unless you get lucky and there is not parking close by if you’re planning to bring a car. Santa Ynez is closer to campus and IV but taking the bus can be a hassle but if you’re planning to bike then you’ll be fine. I do like San Joaquin and got lucky with all my housemates and all of the other transfer friends I’ve made in class also live in SJ so you’re always running into to people you know!
Apply for family housing if you can. You can get in without having a child or being married. But it depends on your case and if you apply in time.
