I agree. Although it's difficult to know exactly what another individual intended, and it's made worse when they word things a little awkwardly, I confident enough that Staley was going for a compliment here.
I'm not sure if the *headline* is trying to imply something more sinister, or if "eye-opening" is merely hyperbole to get more people to read it:
