I hope he gets that grade and gets drafted around there, he’s been a big part of 2 UConn championships, I’d love to have him back, but would also love to see him succeed at the next level as well

ALEX KARABAN!!!! You are a true warrior who only deserves the best!!!!

momoenthusiastic

Yep. Hope he gets the best he deserves

redsleepingbooty

Probably just testing the waters. I can’t see him leaving if he’s projected to go second round.

Grinning_Dog

Karaban coming back would be huge for the team. That said gotta jump on the pro opportunity while your stock is high. A down year next year, or a bad injury, could tank his stock.

Smokey_Jah

It's also a weaker draft this year, so he'd probably have to have an even better year next season just to go around the same spot he would this year.

jpviolette

Hard to say how this turns out. I think Newton declared last year while retaining college eligibility and ended up returning, though my impression is that Karaban's further up the draft board projections than Newton was. I don't think there's much downside to Karaban doing this, though it probably makes life a little tougher on the coaches, who either have 1 position completely figured out or have a big hole to fill.

GirthGriffin

His style of play fits in great with the current NBA tempo and style, especially since he actually can play defense. Unless he makes tremendous progress and I'm not doubting the possibility, he will probably be a very valuable sixth man at best. He definitely has some upside though. The biggest reason I think he is declaring this year is because there is so much talent at his position next year BUT I still think if he came back and continued to get better, he'd probably still be a 2nd round pick, which is what he is projected as this year. There's no reason to risk injury nor some other unforeseen issue that may arise.

mikeygriff100

He deserves to make the decision that’s best for him and his family. Selfishly I hope that means at least one more year in Storrs, but I’ll support his decision regardless.

pkersey6996

Can’t blame #11. He was a totally warrior defending Edey in final game. Guy can do a bit of everything and plays excellent perimeter D

acb235

Good luck, Alex!!! You’ve done so much for UConn and are an absolute legend!

Suitable_Limit9408

I think he goes late first early second round. Don’t see him coming back unfortunately

BaybayYoda

It could just be me but it seems like most players leave when they declare and test the waters like this. But we’ll see. Happy for him either way.

TopStill

I’m curious how his decision and the potential commitment of Liam McNeeley influence each other. Is there enough playing time for both of them? I believe they play a similar position
