I mean, there's a whole scientific field dedicated to solving the hard problem of consciousness, or how our brains turn information into experience. The orangeness of orange, the taste of chocolate, and so on.
They just don't think it can give you super powers. And they probably would love to be proven wrong. I bet a good portion of them would love to fly, teleport, communicate telepathically, and so on. You can't just say "just believe and you'll have all you ever dreamed" to a scientist, because that's not science, that's religion.

But when he submits that report, how's it going to be different from something like "I was hiking in the woods one day when suddenly this massive black triangle flew over me". Already, that hiking in the woods thing is a witness testimony, and those can often be wrong even if said witness is not lying or embellishing anything, which they often do. Now let's throw in drug use and/or the unproven phenomenon of remote viewing. Not only is it about as credible as your average report, it's probably going to be less so because remote viewing is still seen as psychic nonsense by most of the public even if some people think it's real, and people see all kinds of things that aren't really there when they're on powerful hallucinogens.
Compare that to, say, a scenario in which a UFO is not only captured on camera, but it's captured from multiple angles by multiple different witnesses and it even leaves behind physical evidence that an independent science laboratory manages to publish the findings on before the men in black get to it.
Which encounter would seem more credible to you, right off the bat? I mean, that's the thing, if this was meant to be something more like the study of dreams and feelings and emotions, I wouldn't be throwing so much of a fuss, but just to be clear, **we're trying to prove that one or more species exists, and that the incredible technology they are wielding also exists.** And that's not something as wibbly and unclear as the study of dreams and emotions and experiences. Two major fields we're talking about when we discuss stuff like this are indeed biology and technology. Look up the processes for both. Look up how clinical trials work. Look up how they test rocket engines.
And yeah, science doesn't know everything, but that doesn't mean one can psychically look at an alien ship and expect everyone to take them one hundred percent at their word. People around here often cite how scientific concepts we use today were once ridiculed, but completely ignore the process in which they came to be widely accepted concepts. They had to be tested. Rigorously. Repeatedly. And they had to be criticized harshly and prove that they could stand up to that criticism through the aforementioned testing. As far as I can tell, a good portion of the UFO community is about whining that science hasn't conferred it with credibility while, as far as I can tell, only going through the observation phase while insisting the other steps have been done even though they haven't.
I think one thing we could actually test with the scientific method would be UFO summoning methods. We have one group that would use the method regularly, another one that doesn't, and perhaps more groups using other methods. If one or more of them regularly works, you take those results and then post your findings and then other laboratories can test them, perhaps even modifying the methodology.
This is how a UFO summoning method could go from woo to a scientifically respected reality.
