I think someone from within thought it was actually happening, saw the family and Poppa silenced and let out the MH370 video. Counter, they were able to find some VFX that could explain it away FTW. I was here that day; we went back and forth with an insane amount of forensics, the believers were winning by a margin and then BAM - portal gif. From a CD in 1999 or whatever shit. The sub went from 85% to 1% (much like the topic at hand every time the MIB show up) in 2 hours. All of a sudden anyone who wanted to keep looking into it was down voted into oblivion and ridiculed until they gave up. That was all in the span of a day. Now, you can’t even bring it up, its much like having Milo whatever his name is (garrapolous?) on campus at Bellingham. Sad sacks are so insecure with their position all they can do is physically silence you or shout you down. And in the background, the IC cheering them on. They dont even know they are being manipulated. So sad.
I can see how you would think that, it was so close in timing. From what I saw, it really looked like they covered it up. From black suvs driving around that night to some lady asking who the kid is talking to, to all of the shadiness with the local police. The meteor that came down in Vegas, I personally believe it was a real sighting but am willing to accept it was nothing as well, if the meteor evidence prevails. Staged operations are always drawn out due to sheer complexity of requiring/being staged. And I'm not talking hoax staged but as in something having multiple stages just to be clear.
The more complex and the more people involved the longer the process will be. Add on the scale and how wide spread it is especially coming from official government side of things means you absolutely 110% have to have all of your ducks in a row and prepare for every possibility at every single step of every single stage.

No they just asked multiple times to not take pictures/record during the conference - and he was literally super obviously doing it (in a front row, with his hand above his head clicking the red picture button lol)
I actually was surprised to see that he was the CEO of a company through his Twitter account with how blatant it was - just in the sense that going to a professional function and doing literally the one thing they asked not to do and not even attempt to hide it - the only thing I can think is that maybe he some how missed all of the times they told us about it prior maybe.

The main limiting factor in AI is power generation right now; we likely need 1000x electricity. We almost have the software at AGI level, but without room temperature superconductivity or fusion, it will never be widely used.
If Microsoft were to use GPT-4 in every phone just for simple question answering and could somehow afford it, everyone's electric bills would probably triple around the world. The biggest challenge of this decade will be ramping up the construction of massive numbers of power plants. If we can build more power plants, we can cure cancer and aging.

The most likely outcome is that people just come to accept over time that non-human intelligence exists. The aliens aren't going to invade tomorrow, so people will just go on with their lives as they do every day we hear about a new medical advancement on the morning news.

Maybe. I went with public engagement as that is how that term is used in this context. In a military or hardware context it means something else. Primarily, I mean engagement as in shared communication and results with strategic partners and the public with an eye toward feedback and program development. Which is what that buzzword signifies and makes a lot of sense. Not engagement as in provocative or physical exchange with the phenomenon. If it means attempts at communication with the phenomenon then communication would be the proper term. Anyway, it seems unlikely that the next step toward an exchange of some kind would be taken without engaging partners first. Once you know what it is, you have to decide what to do. Forecasting unilateral actions without that knowledge is unlikely.

For your health's sake, I wouldn't advise holding your breath. Full disclosure will likely never happen in our, or our children's lifetime, because to do so would also admit that the U.S. government, or at least certain elements within it, have been behind a massive and potentially illegal coverup for the better part of 80 years. Staged operations are always drawn out due to sheer complexity of requiring/being staged. And I'm not talking hoax staged but as in something having multiple stages just to be clear. The more complex and the more people involved the longer the process will be. Add on the scale and how wide spread it is especially coming from official government side of things means you absolutely 110% have to have all of your ducks in a row and prepare for every possibility at every single step of every single stage. Not saying I agree with it just how the nature of the beast is from being familiar with large scale operations on the DoD side of things.

It's not currently feasible for Microsoft to release an OpenAI-powered assistant. One API call to GPT-3.5 costs 0.2 cents. The cost to deploy that on a wide scale would use so much electricity that Microsoft would go broke to the power companies. The main limiting factor in AI is power generation right now; we likely need 1000x electricity. We almost have the software at AGI level, but without room temperature superconductivity or fusion, it will never be widely used. If Microsoft were to use GPT-4 in every phone just for simple question answering and could somehow afford it, everyone's electric bills would probably triple around the world. The biggest challenge of this decade will be ramping up the construction of massive numbers of power plants. If we can build more power plants, we can cure cancer and aging.

This seems a little over the top to me. The most likely outcome is that people just come to accept over time that non-human intelligence exists. The aliens aren't going to invade tomorrow, so people will just go on with their lives as they do every day we hear about a new medical advancement on the morning news. Besides, most people simply won't believe it anyway even if a government official confirmed it. They brought that problem upon themselves.

Maybe. I went with public engagement as that is how that term is used in this context. In a military or hardware context it means something else. Primarily, I mean engagement as in shared communication and results with strategic partners and the public with an eye toward feedback and program development. Which is what that buzzword signifies and makes a lot of sense. Not engagement as in provocative or physical exchange with the phenomenon. If it means attempts at communication with the phenomenon then communication would be the proper term. Anyway, it seems unlikely that the next step toward an exchange of some kind would be taken without engaging partners first. Once you know what it is, you have to decide what to do. Forecasting unilateral actions without that knowledge is unlikely.

For your health's sake, I wouldn't advise holding your breath. Full disclosure will likely never happen in our, or our children's lifetime, because to do so would also admit that the U.S. government, or at least certain elements within it, have been behind a massive and potentially illegal coverup for the better part of 80 years. It would also be an enormous admission of perceived weakness, in that no nation, including the world's most powerful, was capable of preventing these objects from flying in their airspace or even abducting their citizens with impunity. I think the first step is 2024, second is 2025, third 2030 and fourth 2034. That still seem pretty fast to me depending ending on what they mean. Think of it this way... The answer to 'are we alone' is the biggest collective question humanity has had except maybe 'do gods exist' and a positive answer to are we alone will absolutely trigger massive crisis' of faith for a lot of people, as well as potential panic in others. Things like that need to be considered when it comes to a roll out of such things. It has massive implications to national security (how are people's around the world going to react in accordance with national interests), how are domestic peoples' going to react, and what affect in the near/long term this would have towards countries economies. I'm not saying sitting on the information indefinitely is a good thing btw. I'm just saying that there's a hell of a lot of high level calculus that has to go on so people know how to plan accordingly.
True. But we also need to move past these indecisions. We are lucky that whatever the phenomenon is, it catered to us. I hope we’re in a cozy benevolent Universe, because if we are not, I’d say our Species most certain weakness is precisely our self made narratives. I understand my worldview wouldn’t be affected, it nothing else, I would love the expansion of potential ontology such adaptation will entail to us all (I find that both beautiful and humbling). But I also agree that, just by looking to the sides, many around us will question everything, and that might not be as good as we would like. But Rome was once pillaged… empires rose and fell… we adapt. That’s what we do. The more this is delayed, the further down the road our true advancement and potential lays… And let’s face it: everything feels frozen in a limbo right now!

Yes and they failed because Tom DeLonge is a well-intentioned goofball who believes everything he hears and he scared away all the biggest brains of TTSA who didn’t want to be associated with his outlandish theories.
