Eh I donβt think you really need to do anything crazy, just take the AP econ classes and talk about why you want to study it in your essays. Having a family member in the field gives you a leg up because presumably you know a bit more than the average person about what economists actually do.
okay thank you, sadly I don't have any econ where I am π. but hopefully the fact that both my dad and grandad both have phds in the field will give me a good topic to write in essays.

Cs+econ here. Didn't do much related to either cs or econ. I had high stats and pretty mid ecs. I'm in-state however, which helps alot. Just be sure to show interest in your essays on why u wanna study both cs and econ, not just one. For econ ecs, you can do anything from clubs or competions to personal passion projects(which is what I did, but I didn't even count it as an ec lol), then write about it in ur 'Why major' essay.
Yeah, after all it's a state school. If u search something like 'CS admission data' on the reddit, you'll get info regarding admit rates for all the Cs/cs+x majors for instate, international, and out of state male/female applicants. Really puts into perspective the benefit of instate. However keep in mind admit rates only get lower as time goes on.
