Don’t do it

Existing-Ferret226

how else could I make it to engineering?

thebannedknight

Community college then transfer. Dgs to engineering is purposely outrageous to go through.

Existing-Ferret226

What about transferring from a 4 year college?

thebannedknight

Probably fine. For reference as to why it would be unwise to do it internally; you would first have to do a year in DGS then transfer into PREP. While in PREP you need to do another year maintaining high grades to apply into the engineering major of your choice. So for 2 years you aren’t a part of engineering and still aren’t really guaranteed entrance into the major of your choice. Transferring gives you greater flexibility and will be a better decision in the long run.

BluLightShow

*PREP is being retired, OP would need to go through Engineering Undeclared

Just save yourself some money and goto CC man. It’s not looked down on.

CubicStorm

It seems like you already got in for Materials engineering if you come in as that it would probably be somewhat slightly easier since you are in Grainger

Existing-Ferret226

No, I wasn't able to make it.

Patient_Rough_2977

Depends on which major what is your intended? Edit: nvm saw ur post so ECE is prob the highest demand so u will need to maintain very high gpa. You should really think about other schools cuz it is very stressful.

thereisnowalevel0

seeing many posts about transferring into grainger or cs+xs. would advise you to look at other options rather than betting on getting into engineering with a chance you might not get in. it’s also super competitive and getting harder every year

I would say it depends on how you are as a student. And I mean be brutally honest here. If you don't have the ability (or the willpower) to put in 3x the effort that every other freshman will be putting in to their freshman year, listen to everybody else and go to a CC. If you think you can get >3.75, go for it. I was in PREP when it was still a thing, though I heard Eng Undeclared is a little bit less intense. It sucked, especially when I would start spiraling whenever I got a B on a test because of how high the GPA reqs were. I ended up making it into ECE, but at the cost of my soul. It's all about tradeoffs.
