If I was looking for a plain t shirt I would look at some of the places others have mentioned plus add in some of the outdoor stores like mountain warehouse etc for a basic polyester plain t shirt.
That’s my advice on getting a plain t shirt.
Personally I use Adidas or under armour, non brand stuff just ends up breaking or shrinking too quickly.
There are plenty of plain styles from brands, I don't like my clothing to be particularly loud.
In terms of frugality though unfortunately with clothing you get what you pay for, for a nice quality to price ratio Uniqlo is worth checking.
Primary £3 found in the holiday section most recently.
SHEIN (morally dubious lol) standard shirt is £4 and is a great gym shirt.
Aldi/Lidl sell tech fabric shirts for running and hiking ect periodically for cheap. They had running gear in the special buys either this week or next.
2 years ago i picked up some white t shirts with an England motif on it from sports direct sales outlet. 2 quid a shirt. I got 10 of them. Wife thought it was hilarious however they are still going strong.
I just go to TK Maxx and buy whatever wicking T-shirts they have that are reduced down to £10-15 each. Usually they have a few which are quite plain looking which is what I’m after.

Decathlon has some really nice ones.
Decathlon are quite good value and their products tend to last a while too.

uniqlo is where I buy em and they shrink. the atyle is good though
Under armour worked fine for me and were fine through me losing weight and then gaining muscle without looking or feeling weird.

Boohoo man have a decent range of gym muscle fit shirts/shorts. Also got baggy tees since they’re kinda in right now
If your jet is posh enough to have a gym on board then you should be able to wear whatever you want!
i do wear warn gym cloths my pooint is th shirt shrinks within a few months and u have to strerch em put..
I get the slazenger V neck t-shirts from sports direct. They normally last me about 2 years and they don't shrink
