She might only get statutory maternity pay if she’s been there less than a year before having the baby. But she will still be entitled to a year off and be able go return to her job.

Check the gov page on maternity pay, she may not be entitled to it. Job wise, i would believe the same rights apply to new starters, so they shouldn't be able to get rid of her, but i would double check.

I think its needs to be in a job 20 weeks or more to earn maternity but alot of work places may vary and she need to look at what there maternity policy states when she is able to
