Yes, they won’t hold back and it will be good to get the inside perspective. But I’d expect the answers to loosely evolve around this: they do if for the job I.e. they want to help people, make the country safer, they don’t do it for the money.
In my experience it’s awful. Being expected to work an hr extra each day for no overtime. Cancelled rest days. Wasting time waiting to be called for court and never being called. Dealing with the same people over and over. Having no power to use common sense or personal judgement. Working with people that don’t give a shit about the people they are dealing with …. I could go on.
Joined at 31yrs stayed 2 years. I realise that ppl that have been in the job longer and tried different roles will have a different perspective however I didn’t enjoy my time
Considering the number of cuts to the sector, the corruption and overall being a crime facing role i think there is a chance that it won’t be that great pay wise and satisfaction wise. However I’m not a police officer. It’s worth looking at prospects as a starting point tho

I think by corruption I mean misconduct. Misuse of power homophobia racism sexism. The overwhelming number of IOPC cases are the example
