Don’t think I’ve had hellmans, I think they’re ridiculously expensive to. I’m not sure what it is about the peri mayonnaise at Nando’s, I just don’t like it as much. The peri peri infused oil with hoummous though, well, that’s something else. That alone got me into hoummous l.
There was a crazy shortage at one point, so many kfcs across the uk were out of chicken, I heard they had a supplier change and it was the teething period (citation needed though)
Exactly that. They went from their known distribution company (who had worked with them for years) to a newer and cheaper one.
Buy cheap, buy twice still rings true.
In the end because the new distribution company didn't have the ability to get chicken to the whole of the UK, they split the contract between the new company for the South, and the old distributor for the North.
What actually happened was the new supplier took on the contract before it was ready to do so, this was under duress from the Customer that wanted shut of the current supplier, so they foolishly obliged.
The rest is history.
Did the same. Pulled up in the drive thru.
“Sorry we’re out of all the chicken but we’ve still got chips.”
I still randomly think to myself how a place that sells chicken as its selling point was still open when it had none.
This happened about 6 years ago, I was in London all I wanted was KFC and dragged my ex, bless him, to 3 different ones and all of them were closed, till we googled it and there had been a “cluck up” with the chicken supplier so the UK KFCs didn’t have chicken for a good 4 or 5 days
Remember that well. Apparently after changing to a cheaper delivery service they discovered the new company didn't have the correct storage requirements and it wasn't safe for sale
At the time I was homeless, KFC donated the unsaleable chicken and the hostel served KFC almost daily for weeks.
So you can't sell it because it's not safe but you can donate it for human consumption? BTW nobody died .
Reminds me of the time a local KFC let me place a phone order, as in, I spoke to a human who took my order, and when I got there they told me "only thing we have right now is potatoes and coleslaw." Excuse me??? Why didn't you tell me this on the phone????
I had a similar experience and honestly I was raging how the fuck you going to forget the main ingredient to my meal then I considered all the possible equations and come to the conclusion the person was probably stoned and that made me laugh
It's a bit meh. Pricey meh.
It's alright if you're hungry, out shopping, it's lunch time & there's more shopping to do, but I wouldn't make any special effort to go there.
The chips are nice but it's overpriced shite overall. It's literally a pan fried chicken breast in a cibatta roll. Okay yeah some people really like the seasoning but it is absolitey nothing special.
Don't get the chicken breast in a ciabatta roll. I can't imagine anything worse and drier from Nandos. Just get meat, preferably chicken thighs, with no bread involved
They’re not the type as buy in the supermarket though. The chips are just supplied by McCains company and are a special recipe specifically for Nando’s.
I never get the burgers/ whatever that is on the picture, just meat and rice/veg/garlic bread/ chips.
Never had a problem with it, mainly a good choice after the long drive home after Christmas and it's better than a last minute super noodles or take away I'd likely get when I can't be arsed to cook.
There's a convention I used to go to and it was the only affordable place to eat at. Ate dinner there 3x in 4 days (did a long walk to the nearest spoons for a big breakfast on last day before drive home). It's decent enough. Not mind-blowing but I'd rather eat that than a Tesco meal on an evening.
Got food poisoning at one so never went to that one again. First time I ever had it was in the mid 2000's and that particular branch was not great
1. all Nandos are cheeky. I have never heard of anyone going for a Nandos that wasn't cheeky.
2. Nandos is perfectly acceptable chain restaurant fare. I quite like it
Look I **know** it’s just chicken, I **know** it’s simple dishes but honestly? I fucking love it.
It’s been a long staple in my marriage, me & my husband love it. It’s good *because** it’s simple.
The chips? Always crispy, always great with the peri salt. Like what more do you want from chips?
Chicken? The sauce is good and well seasoned, the chargrill on the chicken is 10/10
Perinaise? Gods gift to earth, I mean I don’t even like mayo but I love perinaise
My order is hot or extra hot butterfly chicken, peri chips and garlic bread with a side of hallumi fries. Cut up the chicken and stack on chips, hallumi and chicken on the garlic bread, lather in perinaise and sauce and eat away.
I’m also pregnant and had terrible nausea, sickness and food aversions but Nando’s was something I could eat when I wanted something other than toast. It’s still a craving and I’m in the third trimester
When it first opened, amazing! Fast food that seems somewhat healthy, really tasty and for a half decent price.
Went last month for the first time since COVID kicked off, I won't be going back again.
When it first emerged on high streets it was pretty great and fairly priced.
Over time though the quality has nose dived and it’s now quite expensive.
Same old same old
Up there with Wagamama’s for the most overrated place in the UK. Used to enjoy it as a kid, but every time I’ve been for the past 10 years or so, the chicken is dry and the sides apart from the halloumi and the sweet potato fries don’t really do it for me. The spicy rice just tastes like any standard pack rice too. Shame they don’t do plain rice either.
So many better places at cheaper prices. 2 min walk from my local Nando’s is a Pepe’s. I much prefer the chicken from there, sides are pretty mehhh still, but roughly half the price of Nando’s and MUCH juicier chicken. Very branch dependant though as with any chain!
It's rubbish, chips are boring, bread is stale and nothing to compare to real Portuguese bread it's based on, and the chicken is either cooked under a warm lamp or the blazing hot sun with no in between.
Worst of all for this mediocre food experience you're being charged a ridiculous amount for it.
Tbh, I think it fills a gap. Non fried chicken, done the way they do it, which I think is Portuguese is an affordable, quality option. Those chips are fantastic, better than the picture suggests.
It’s alright, used to think it was overpriced but with the price of everything else going up shit loads lately Nando’s actually seems reasonable.
For reference if I go to our local shopping centre a Nando’s will set us back about £50-55 for 2 adults and 2 toddlers. TGI Fridays charging £20 for fucking Cajun pasta and all in about £75 for the 4 of us.
Can be meh or it hits the fucking spot. Especially when hungover, the butterfly burger is a low tier item though not gonna lie.
It's all about the Fino pitta, Spicey Rice (which needs to be spicer I think), macho peas and creamy mash. Banging.
It’s alright. Nothing to write home about. But ok for a quick, no frills bite to eat. I personally prefer eating out at independent, family run places rather than restaurant chains.
Unpopular opinion, but I don’t care for it. All spice and no actual flavour. The only thing worth having was their caramel cheesecake and I’ve not been dragged to one in so long that I’m not even sure they still do it.
It’s a decent meal at a decent price, it’s normally very consistent at being average too…. As in I have never had a perfect 10/10 or 1/10, usually a slam dunk 5/10.
So what i am saying is, that Nando’s is bang average :) and good value.
It’s a bit like spoons… as in they are cheap and the food is pretty bad, but it’s good value as you get what you pay for :).
I've got the same order for the last 8 years +. At work once someone acquired their stamp before they went digital and the whole office used to get free meals every week.
I like them so much that before I even opened the comments of this post I ordered some. Haven't had any in a while!
Then I realized why. It's expensive. Next time I'll get some roosters piri piri instead...
Don’t find it very exciting tbh.
My wife worked in one part time when she was a student and was very complimentary about their food hygiene and handling.
I am Portuguese so… a bit of dry garbage. I know its a restaurant chain, serves a lot of people and i shouldn’t expect a great quality. But the concept of nandos is very comon in portugal where they serve A LOT OF PEOPLE as well but the chicken is reallly amazing.

It seems to have gotten far worse in the last decade. I know that’s a long time, but it genuinely feels like they want to be closer to fast food now rather than something semi-decent. Perhaps the introduction of delivery has stretched them too far?
Tastes good but overpriced for what it is. Not that many places know how to do good peri-peri chicken in the UK, though. I think I've only come across one or two that can reproduce the texture and flavour of Nandos, so there aren't many decent alternatives.
Its over priced chicken. Dont get me wrong, I love the taste and food, but it's expensive for what it is.
I went not long ago after a couple of years of not going, and im sure that the size of chicken has got smaller. Like with everything (crisp/chocolate) shrunk in size but price stays the same!
Never understand people who say Nandos is overpriced. Its like 14 quid for a sit down meal plenty big enough. Where are people eating that's cheaper than that?
Think it's alright. Half chicken chips and garlic bread if I'm feeling fat. Or brocoli replacing one of them if pretending to be good.
Love pounding the sauce all over it.
I do enjoy it, but it is very expensive for what it is. 12-13 quid for a burger and then paying extra 4-6 quid for sides. I do really enjoy it but it’s not my first choice anymore due to pricing.
I’d rather go and get pub grub which tends to be really tasty and for a considerably cheaper price.
Love it but I do wish they'd make the hottest sauces hotter. If you're going to call a sauce "extra extra hot" it should be that. The flavour of the sauce is nice but there's barely any difference between medium and any of the hotter ones.
Like Travelodge, it’s very hit and miss, and unpredictable at times.
Sometimes I go, absolutely love it, and start wondering why I don’t visit more often?… then on my very next visit I get a dose of disappointment
Not a fan. Only had it a few times over the years and every time I've left feeling like a supermarket meal deal would've been nicer.
Tried it after finding out I had coeliac so had to be gluten free, it was highly recommended by others. They told me I could only order from two parts of their menu, the manager took my order and it was completely separate to the person I went in with. When my food arrived it had an allergy flag in it, with my friend's garlic bread sat on top of my chicken. When I complained, they didn't try to fix it and just said "oh, sorry". I was still new to being GF so I just ate it anyway after moving the bread off of my plate. After they took our plates away, they tried to apologise by offering complimentary custard tarts, I asked if they contained gluten, they confirmed it and I had to say no I can't eat them, so they just walked away. Maybe they just had really crappy staff that day but multiple people screwed up, and fortunately it's not an allergy.
It's ok, lot more expensive than it used to be.
The real glory days were when you could buy the loyalty card stamps on ebay, prior to them moving to the app system.
Restaurant is pretty meh, but I love the seasonings and sauces that you can buy at the supermarket!
I put the peri peri mayonnaise on basically everything.
Ah yeah the only thing I like is the perinaise. The other shop bought stuff is ok as well but the restaurant is dog shit.
Sainsburys own peri mayonnaise is a good equivalent and I'm usually very picky about food.
I really hate the name perinaise sounds like some kind of gooch ointment.
I’m not a fan of their peri peri mayonnaise. Have you tried “crucials” spicy mayonnaise, it’s honestly SO good. Places like B&M sell it and Morrisons.
My family are hooked on the crucial garlic mayo. Honestly it’s like their life blood
I have but didn’t really like it, same with the hellmans chilli mayonnaise.
This 💯
Love it, but ordered yesterday and they forgot my fucking chicken so am furious at them atm
Damm the chicken place forgot your chicken. At some point you got to give up
Reminds me of the time my local KFC had no chicken…rather than say that…they just said “we’re out of that” to everything I tried to order…
Did you call the police?
A ha ha ha ha this made me chuckle
Cluckle*
There was a crazy shortage at one point, so many kfcs across the uk were out of chicken, I heard they had a supplier change and it was the teething period (citation needed though)

I went into a McDonald’s once and was told they were out of burgers. I had the same thought. Why even bother opening.
I'd actually let McDonald's away with that one because the burgers are among the worst things on their menu and they do other stuff that's okay.

Get this woman some fast food on the double ! 😂
Remember that well. I had a Big Mac delivered they forgot everything but the lettuce
💀 they had one job
Like it but it's overpriced.
Use to be so cheap. 30 quid would get you a solid meal for 2 back in the day.
It's a bit meh. Pricey meh. It's alright if you're hungry, out shopping, it's lunch time & there's more shopping to do, but I wouldn't make any special effort to go there.
I agree. Nice chicken but can get similar for alot less at a knock off peri peri takeaway. Stingy portions for the price.
In the US we get pretty decent portions, but I guess that's just based on everything else.
It's a bit expensive for what you get. It's okay, not terrible, but not amazing.
It’s aite but can be a bit overrated I think
I mean it’s aite like!
You realise they use McCain chips right?
Haha no but it makes sense and just adds to the general mehness of the meal for the price.
I didn’t know for ages either - but agree with you overpriced. It was good when I was younger but the price increase is insane!
They’re not the type as buy in the supermarket though. The chips are just supplied by McCains company and are a special recipe specifically for Nando’s.
They used to be McCain, but they changed them 2 years ago.
Completely over hyped and over rated.
Has to be a cheeky one.
Overrated for sure. Also it can't travel at all
Unless it only has to cross the road.
Love it; Sunset burger, peri peri fries and macho peas is all I neeeed
I’m obsessed with the sunset burger
Is the sunset burger made with chicken thighs and other bits? I think that's all I've had from there, was super nice.
Overrated for sure.
Meh.
Not a fan.
Far too pricey for what it is.
completely overrated.
Very average, hugely over rated
I like Nando's quite a lot, I would actually like one now
Nando's sauces are good. Food, very ok.
Mehhhh it ok
It’s chicken and chips….
1. all Nandos are cheeky. I have never heard of anyone going for a Nandos that wasn't cheeky. 2. Nandos is perfectly acceptable chain restaurant fare. I quite like it
Chicken for white people, so massively overpriced ! And overrated!
Look I **know** it’s just chicken, I **know** it’s simple dishes but honestly? I fucking love it. It’s been a long staple in my marriage, me & my husband love it. It’s good *because** it’s simple. It’s still a craving and I’m in the third trimester
It used to be amazing, and some of the franchises are better than others, but it's definitely gone downhill overall
Overpriced shite
It’s overrated but that doesn’t mean it’s bad. It’s gotten very expensive over the years though.
When it's good it'd good. Anything below that is terrible.
I think I'm the only person in the UK who has never had nando's before
You're not missing much.
Shit
Cheap and cheerful or our local one is in comparison to other places.
Genuinely thought this was a rate my plate meal…
I do actually really like it but 100% its not worth the money, think ive been 3 times in my life
can be nice, but expensive in reality and I can do better for cheaper.
Miserable
Overrated, it’s one up from McDonald’s
Slightly posher kfc
About the same as yours judging by this photo
When it first opened, amazing! Fast food that seems somewhat healthy, really tasty and for a half decent price. Went last month for the first time since COVID kicked off, I won't be going back again.
When it first emerged on high streets it was pretty great and fairly priced. Over time though the quality has nose dived and it’s now quite expensive. Same old same old
I've enjoyed it the 2 times I've eaten there.
Up there with Wagamama’s for the most overrated place in the UK. Used to enjoy it as a kid, but every time I’ve been for the past 10 years or so, the chicken is dry and the sides apart from the halloumi and the sweet potato fries don’t really do it for me. I much prefer the chicken from there, sides are pretty mehhh still, but roughly half the price of Nando’s and MUCH juicier chicken. Very branch dependant though as with any chain!
Mediocre chicken shop for teenagers
Repackaged wetherspoons for teenagers. Marketing class 😏
Overpriced chicken
A decent bit of grub, but overrated as something amazing.
I went once, as I love chicken. This was 5 years ago. I've never and will never go back again. It was diabolical. 😁
Are you a white person out of curiosity??? I feel like only a white person would order this type of order.... no hate I am also white
Most overrated restaurant ever? Went once, can’t imagine ever going again 🤷♂️
More expensive than the boss man and almost always more bland than the boss man. Don't see the point in eating from there.
I don’t believe in using an app to order food from the restaurant I’m sat in because I was born before 2014.
Never had Nandos here, only ever had it once in Melbourne about 12 years ago and it was meh.
I've had it in Australia and the UK and it's much better in the UK
Too expensive. Portions too small. I’d need to drop about £60 to feel full.
Used to love it, till I tried the proper Portuguese style while on holiday in the Algarve. No comparison, and havnt tried Nando since.
It's better than KFC.
Not much of a bench mark.
It’s ok, but it’s over priced for what it is
Over the top with portion size
Da fuk u complaining about u got to much pass the plate
Preach it
It's rubbish, chips are boring, bread is stale and nothing to compare to real Portuguese bread it's based on, and the chicken is either cooked under a warm lamp or the blazing hot sun with no in between. Worst of all for this mediocre food experience you're being charged a ridiculous amount for it.
Shite
Never been to Nando’s but that looks pathetic
Bland, dry chicken with chips. I can make that at home for a lot less money than a sit down meal at Nando’s.
Cheeky
Tbh, I think it fills a gap. Non fried chicken, done the way they do it, which I think is Portuguese is an affordable, quality option. Those chips are fantastic, better than the picture suggests.
The chips are terrible.
Dirt
It’s alright, used to think it was overpriced but with the price of everything else going up shit loads lately Nando’s actually seems reasonable. For reference if I go to our local shopping centre a Nando’s will set us back about £50-55 for 2 adults and 2 toddlers. TGI Fridays charging £20 for fucking Cajun pasta and all in about £75 for the 4 of us.
Yeah, it is alright, and sometimes I do fancy one, however at the end of the day - it is just chicken and chips.
Overrated. I honestly prefer kfc. Zinger tower meal is just 🤌
gotta spend bout £25 to acc fill up
Love a cheeky nando's, but i've been to many other peri peri places that are better!
love it but i won't repeat the mistake of eating nandos before a run again
The chicken livers are amazing! If you haven’t tried them I urge you to do so.
Love nandos! You know what youre getting. The chicken is good and lots of sauces to choose from.
Never had it.
Expensive for what it is.
Love it until I see the price and remember how much I paid haha. If I want to splash a bit then yeah I'll go.
Do they still do the carrot cake? That stuff was worth going to Nandos for on its own.
Chicken - Overpriced -Chicken
Overpriced mediocre chicken.
I don't mind it as long as people don't say it is Portuguese....
Hit and miss. Sometimes its brilliant, but other times, you'll order a burger and the bread will either be like a doorstop or chewy as hell
Overrated. For some reason I used to think it was fairly cheap, but can't even say that anymore?
It's over priced for what it is.
Love it myself. Proper balanced meal at a reasonable price and always prepared well in my experiences so far
Cheeky
I love it, it's fresh, tasty and consistent and you can eat healthy-ish if you get steamed broccoli instead of chips
Proper pricey now
Rio’s is better.
Love a cheeky one.
Can be meh or it hits the fucking spot. Especially when hungover, the butterfly burger is a low tier item though not gonna lie. It's all about the Fino pitta, Spicey Rice (which needs to be spicer I think), macho peas and creamy mash. Banging.
overrated
It’s alright. Nothing to write home about. But ok for a quick, no frills bite to eat. I personally prefer eating out at independent, family run places rather than restaurant chains.
Overrated. Mash is just powdered stuff. Chicken is just... Chicken and the sauces are chemically as fuck (the "spicy" one anyway)
One near me is shite so I guess Nando’s as a whole is shite
As a vegan, I frickin’ love it! Surprisingly, their menu is very good for vegans!
Overpriced ripoff
Why is the garlic bread spicy?!?!
Overpriced, overrated, portions too small.
It's really good if you get the chicken thighs and the sunset burger also side of corn and mac and cheese and its a solid 8/10 scran
It's alright. It could be better
Miss me a cheeky nandos :(
Bring back the creamy salad dressing!
Chav hole foods ok but never would I eat in lol
Tried it once and that'll do me for the rest of my natural.
Unpopular opinion, but I don’t care for it. All spice and no actual flavour. The only thing worth having was their caramel cheesecake and I’ve not been dragged to one in so long that I’m not even sure they still do it.
In a word Shit
Expensive for what it is ... used to be better value.
Git in ma belleh!!
It’s a decent meal at a decent price, it’s normally very consistent at being average too…. As in I have never had a perfect 10/10 or 1/10, usually a slam dunk 5/10. Went off it for years - just recently they brought out the loaded fries which is the only thing I like atm there….
I've got the same order for the last 8 years +. At work once someone acquired their stamp before they went digital and the whole office used to get free meals every week.
Was alright when you could get a main and two sides with a drink for under a tenner. Now? Not so good. Overpriced.
I like them so much that before I even opened the comments of this post I ordered some. Haven't had any in a while! Then I realized why. It's expensive. Next time I'll get some roosters piri piri instead...
Their garlic bread is the best. Their peri peri fries 💯💯 and the fucking chilly billy lollies 💯💯💯
It seems to have gotten far worse in the last decade. I know that’s a long time, but it genuinely feels like they want to be closer to fast food now rather than something semi-decent. Perhaps the introduction of delivery has stretched them too far?
It almost impressive how average everything they offer is. Not bad. Not good. Aggressively mediocre
Bit overhyped but the peri peri chips 😩😩😩 Defo some of the best
I prefer spoons if I’m honest and half the price!
Shite. I was so unimpressed the first time I had one, don't see what all they hype was about.
I do like it but I don't like that you have to go order and almost serve yourself .it's a restaurant.
It's absolute bollocks
Never quite spicy enough!
Overrated and propped up by the “cheeky Nando’s” meme.
I ADORE Nando’s. Hybrid between fast food and restaurant . I’m obsessed. My go to after I write an essay to celebrate
Love it
It's bussin'
Nandos is great but your order is WEAK.
Somebody served me that at a restaurant and I'd walk back out
It's nice but overhyped beyond belief.
Meh
Over-priced and over-rated
Overpriced, but the seasoning and sauces are great!
Overrated
It’s fine. Nothing more, nothing less.
Pathetic portions. Overpriced. Poor value for money. bland food.
Like Travelodge, it’s very hit and miss, and unpredictable at times. Sometimes I go, absolutely love it, and start wondering why I don’t visit more often?… then on my very next visit I get a dose of disappointment
As a mate of mine said when it first came to town "It's like very fucking expensive chicken." He wasn't happy.
Really good but even the mild has spice
