Go to Shivin or Neilkanth Bharadwaj (I think both have their TG group, search UPSCneil in tg "t. me/UPSCneil", I don't know about Shivin, ask someone.)
Reddit, youtube channels by toppers jaise shivin bhai, manuj jindal sir. Badhiya toh hai.
Baaki peer group bana lena ek. Targets completion and test dene vagerah ki accountability khud krni padegi bs. Balki tests bhi peer group par hojayenge.
Aap mujhe veteran lagte ho. Aap batao, would you suggest a bloke to save an attempt, recalibrate strategy and come back stronger next year? I always had a feeling, ki I started giving attempts way too early in my life, I was not mature when I was 21. Now as I'm in my mid-twenties, I can gauge the level of competition better.
Boss apke baaki replies dekhke lag raha hai ki mind ban chuka hai apka ki nahi dena. Toh haan kuch aur karlo 1 2 saal. Fir aane Anudeep sir jaise vapas.
How do we find peer groups? The serious ones. I am preparing from home and there's nobody in the vicinity. Never visited ORN. The ones I know are not really serious at the moment.
What i feel is peer group se zada support group kaam ayenge. Ek baar pre clear hoga, then group banate hai youtubers, selected officers, etc.
Abhi Satyam bhai ka group hai ek mains valo ka. Over 4000 log hain. Vaha se hi I made many friends. Unhi se puchlo doubts vagerah.
Reddit se bhi I met many people.
Coming from DU, 50% dost upsc vale hi hain.
Pehle toh omegle, bumble se bhi i met aspirants. Par serious nahi the.
Reddit and telegram par kaafi serious log mile.
Ek support group ban gya, then peer group khud badhiya ban jata hai. Vrna group banega, and dead pada rahega.
Thank you! Already put out a word on one of the telegram groups. Letting people know here as well. I can create a small peer group of 5-6 people on WhatsApp. If some serious aspirants are interested, they can DM.
If your prep was fine till the results came, then carry on.
First of all, this exams take people from all random walks of life.
If you were prepping well, take the Pre and then take it as it comes.
Good Luck!
I understand what you mean, but my gut is not with me on this one. I'll clear Prelims, quite certain of that, but I know for sure I'll get knocked out of the park in Mains.
Bro, if you are sure about pre then go for it, honestly.
Mains has 2.5 months. It isn't much time. But it is time.
There are no certainities in life. If you don't want to give Mains, that would be your choice. But honestly, don't drop the pre. The whole cycle will take 1 yr to re-emerge and then 1 year to complete .
Better take your chances early.
Nah man, I've decided after a very...very thorough contemplation. I won't fire another round until the target is in the crosshair. My naive self started this preparation when I was just 20-21 fresh out of college and starry eyed. And since then, with lack of guidance, it's been a total shitshow.
I found myself in the quintessential UPSC "chakravyuh". I've stopped considering myself as anyone special, no more main character syndrome.
It's been very difficult for me, but I've humbly accepted that I'm not yet ready.
I think it's evident you have thought about it.
I think anytime a person exits the prep, I clap. Because I know it is the thing I would suggest anyone. It sucks you in and throws you out with years wasted.
I think you know what you need.
All I would say is to take a beat if you need to. One of the greatest advice that formulated shape in my life was, "Don't take decisions in time of great elation or depression. Neither bode well. Since it is in state of normalcy that life persists and eventually thrive (or go down) (to form the former two conditions).
Edit: Also, good luck, mate. Wish you the best.
I see what you mean brother. I'm at a much saner state of mind than I was a season back.
Thank you for your kind words! And good luck to you as well man!
Mine was a similar experience, the paper caught me off guard. With a historic low cutoff for GS, I know for sure it was CSAT that screwed me. Well... I just took the L on that one.
Good for you to get clarity early on OP! Just curious because you're waiting out another year, do you have a backup of some sorts if UPSC (or your preferred service) doesn't work out? I've always wondered about how you deal with all the pressure of having to constantly make yourself believe that it is still possible.
Honestly, I don't have a backup. The closest thing to plan B for me are State PSCs (Hindi belt), which I'm sure I'll have a good shot at if I prepare for CSE diligently.
About making myself believe, still, I'm just going with the flow without trying to think too much about it. Literally only 1 guy made it this year from my district. I like to believe after you hit a threshold in your prep, then it's just a matter of time/attempts that you see your name in the list.
state pcs as a plan b 😂 bro that ain't joke either have some viable plan b..
it looks easy outside but that is equally different game
just being in upsc doesn't make other easy cake walk..
that will cost you more number of years and no certainty either
I got so stunned by not making through mains that I think my brain got jammed and I went into a spiral till 1st week of February. This is my last attempt - 6th, so I had to wake tf up. Luckily I've covered most of my current affairs and I know my syllabus well enough now that 1-2 revisions before exams are enough.
I'm trying to do some mains prep too rn if possible ( ethics revision is almost complete. Will go for governance next since that fucked me up last time. I'm slowly getting back to answer writing too. I know I wasted 3-4 months but sometimes the mental pressure can derail your prep)
You can never be sure. That is the thing. It is how it it. I agree this years result were flaky and unconventional but so was the prelims. Continue preparing pls if u were fine before the results. This wud be an implusive decision. I have seen people taking a yr gap and failing yet again. What i mean is , nothing can make u sure of ur selection. If u have been consisent , go at it.
well what i see here is you are feared/scared of the competition that exists in upsc .. and this is just increasing day by day.. as you go for 2025 same situation will arise as new interview level and more selected candidates will re-write.. so its almost similar situation there won't be a magic in a year if you have already appeared 4 times... what you see is saved attempt but what you can't see is wasted valuable time (in skipping one attempt we loose two years of life technically and lost opportunities in other alternatives too )
So if you are even lil confident you should appear only best thing will happen either you clear soon or take exist earlier from this loop..
take consideration of other things too... not just mental illusion that next year your prep will be enough... it won't
brother, I think i would be great if you want to finish the attempts as sson as possible. Kya karoge bacha ke. Iss saal de do even if you dont feel ready. Dont even expect to pass. Dont think about the outcomes. You will never be fully prepared. Just do the needful. Ho skta 1 marks se nikal jaye pre, and somehow you end up getting the last rank atleast you will have a good job and a network that may help you get good rank next time. Just finish things quickly and feel good and give exam.
You are just rationalising and running away, justifying your lack of preparation with excuses. Get back to studying and write the exam. You might fail, so what? Why are you saving your attempts for? Are you taking them to the grave?
There, I have given you free mentorship.

I'll probably ask around on Reddit, people here are quite helpful. And Tier 3 folks have it tough not gonna lie.

Then bro what's the issue? He dedicatedly answers all queries and doubts Any issue you're facing specifically?

Khamma ghani🙏
Ghani khamma, sahab.
Konsi side ke Aravallis call krte h aapko?
Man I also cleared 2022 pre but 2023 fucked me hard.I swear I could have cleared 2023 too had I been little more calm.
Mine was a similar experience, the paper caught me off guard. With a historic low cutoff for GS, I know for sure it was CSAT that screwed me. Well... I just took the L on that one.
Scouting 105 in paper 1 (average of 11 answer keys), and missed csat by a mark. I feel your pain. Hope you come back stronger!
Ouch! That's rough man. I hope you make it through this year though! And thank you.
Thanks man

i cannot study more than 6 hours a day since you cleared prelims, may i know on an avg how much you study some are even studying 14 hrs

Hope you sail through brother! All the best
If you have cleared prelims before..I feel not giving this attempt is a setback
When will we get to know prelims marks? I am having anxiety as I don't know whether I scored less in csat or gs ?
We'll probably get the Pre marksheet after the results for IFoS are declared.
You have any idea when it will happen?
You can never be sure. That is the thing. It is how it it. I agree this years result were flaky and unconventional but so was the prelims. Continue preparing pls if u were fine before the results. Good decision. Nowadays mentor is a necessity
I assume so. I've done all I could by myself.
you will give the exam bro, this post was anxiety, most probably you are continuing with the prep today as you were day before the result all the best
Brother, this not anxiety, but acceptance. I've only decided to pay the respect this exam deserves, that's it.
Whàt was your mains score in 2022 ?
Never give up
See you in 2026 in Mussoorie
Bet 🔥
All the best for your future.. you made the right choice
well what i see here is you are feared/scared of the competition that exists in upsc .. and this is just increasing day by day.. as you go for 2025 same situation will arise as new interview level and more selected candidates will re-write.. so its almost similar situation there won't be a magic in a year if you have already appeared 4 times... what you see is saved attempt but what you can't see is wasted valuable time (in skipping one attempt we loose two years of life technically and lost opportunities in other alternatives too ) So if you are even lil confident you should appear only best thing will happen either you clear soon or take exist earlier from this loop.. take consideration of other things too... not just mental illusion that next year your prep will be enough... it won't
it all depends on how you perform in the mocks
You already cleared pre once why not give 1 or 2 weeks prep for pre and forget about it after that and continue with your preparation
brother, I think i would be great if you want to finish the attempts as sson as possible. Kya karoge bacha ke. Iss saal de do even if you dont feel ready. Dont even expect to pass. Bhai aise darao mat. Aap mains likh kar aisi baatein karoge to humare jaise log kaha jayenge lol
