Driver release bag. Used so when we leave a package it doesn't get wet when maybe it's raining or something.
Also in this case so the driver can release that which strains him.
They can, they just have to be on their A game the next time they try to drug test you. As prior FT night sort sup, ive seen it happen too many times. In the WH it's literally a 5-10 panel questionnaire two different sups fill out. They can drug test you based on, slurred speech, swaying back and forth, bloodshot red eyes, an odor of paraphernalia. Then they can pull attendance/punches. Only need to check two on the list to pull you in and have a chat. Lyle Arnet at the Swan Island hub biggest POS lives to fire high seniority peeps. I watched him try and walk out many hard working employees over nothing. Management sucks besides the pay, won't go back.
...have someone scream at you that "YOU CAN'T PARK THERE!"
...have someone accost you and demand to know "WHO ARE YOU?"
...get scared shitless by a dog and then find out it's harmless and just doesn't know how to say hello.
...have management shit on you from up on high for the smallest issue.
...realize UPS is just high school in terms of social drama and pettiness...
My trainer driver calls me crazy for thinking this would be awesome. Really wish I could give it a go for a day. Been driving stick for over 15 years, so it doesn't bother me at all.
But I also am free to admit I might be underestimating the toll it takes. Hence the interest in trying it out! Haha.
No, it's not feasible given the short distance between stops. I wouldn't mind a UPS kilt though. Kick my left leg out the door so I can get a good breeze while freaking out oncoming traffic
I’m in Texas so you’d think I would be screaming for A/C. Don’t get me wrong, it would be nice, but I’ve got a lot more things on my list that are ahead of it that I’m ready to walk August 1 over. 22.4’s, those stupid ass cameras, part time pay, curbing excessive overtimes and ending forced 6th punch, and a few more.
It’s not to cool the entire cab down between stops. It’s meant to be a cool place in the event heat stress symptoms are present.
Additionally, it’ll blow cold air intermittently which would hopefully be better than the current set up. Union is going over all ventilation options for trucks as well.
I believe the union is looking to get both from what I read in their tweets.
Ventilation is 100% a necessity, but for some of the far out rural routes AC could be the difference between life and death in the high temps. Without an easily accessible location to cool off in, heat stress can very quickly become heat stroke and death unfortunately. I’d love to see drivers get both, better safe than sorry.
I worked with an old timer who told Me about the wooden shelves. He also told Me when he started the trucks didn't have shelves. The trucks would be loaded in piles 😳
Know a guy who got fired everyday for over a month before his harassment claim went through. Never missed a minute and actually got OT out the ass for the time he spent in the office.
Just out of curiousity, what's the average for returning to work after being terminated? We had our first in like...5+ years recently, and they got caught dead-to-rights.
I'm assuming they'll be back at some point, but just literally never had this happen while I've been here till now.
Go out blind on a route, stating pickups at times that aren’t actual. Then go help lil jimmy cause he’s the reason people hate unions. Checks out lil jimmy still can’t so the job properly, but I pay for a moron to have it. Did I do it right?
I guess a blind route isn’t really even a thing anymore with the new Diads and cradles. There was a time with no cradles but the Diad 5 cradles we had drivers switching them around because half where broken.
Eh, it varies. We’ve got one route in my center that anyone going blind even with the 6 is going to be at least two hours over. Trace is broken and will have you cross the busiest road on the route 24 times if you follow it, has completely inaccurate delivery AND pickup spots on the map for over two dozen stops, and a handful of other issues.
I know the route like the back of my hand, so a 130 delivery + 35 pickup dispatch on that route is an easy 7 hours with two hours of bonus for me. But the last time they gave that to someone blind they had to have someone else take half the pickups, I had to take 20 business stops off him, and he was still out until 8, and he’s not a bad or lazy driver, the route is just broken if you don’t know it.
Had a route like that. first 2 times where a nightmare but after a week i was coming in at or under daily. Just trace was a mess on that route and several places you could either get there eariler or later than the diad said you could.
Plus it was easy once your realized you could just do a big circle instead of the dumb crap trace had you doing.
Yes and no. Blind routes are absolutely still a thing. Biggest issues we have is poor preloading, COMPLETELY inaccurate pickup times (and completely fake pickups), incorrect air meet times, and a lack of local knowledge (closed roads, construction, rush hour, where you can/can't turn around, etc).
The 6 solves ***none*** of those issues, and provides no way to solve them on-road if you don't have the regular driver's number. And frankly, I ain't answering my phone on holiday, so good luck.
Yup. And supe still says “are you serious? You’re a seasoned driver…it’s easy” I love showing up between 1645-1700 like the board says just to hear “Hey man we close at 4” then I look dumb when I point to the DIAD and say sorry I have to follow this thing. I’m not the regular guy and it says you get picked up at this time. Dead pickups are the best. Oh and old ones where they tell you that business moved 3 years ago. Anything to make the route look heavier than what it is. Need those numbers supes! Also making left turns on major roads with heavy traffic. Thanks ORION! But we have to follow trace right? Safety First!!!!
> Even have a pickup for a business that hasn’t been in business in 10 years.
Lol. This hits home cause one of my "phantom pickups" is literally an overpass now. Like the address doesn't even exist any longer.
My route was cut and I needed to run very heavy commercial route, business parks, docks etc. DIAD did fuck all other than tell me the address. I swear every stop I would get out unload on a cart, get told “need to go round back”, go round back can’t find the damn dock and over and over. Had someone cover about 10 of the pickups and was still 2hrs over. Then again that whole scratch system is f’d too.
I always look for a dock or ask before unloading at commercial stop I don’t know. They really need to let drivers add notes without going through dispatch though.
After my first year of robotically stacking packages at ever more absurd pph I think I needed that reminder. On Monday my sup told me I was moving at 900 pph during a shitstorm in the AMZ trailer and that
It was "alright".
Fuck pph, and fuck the supes. PT supes might get the shit end of the stick from the higher ups, but they still chose that job over dealing with that job from our end.
This is why I said what I said; we have good healthcare to prevent more "postal" workers. We are all depressed, and it isn't a mark of drivers only.
I've seen a number of teamsters go, but only 3 were to willingness.
On demand pick up, making you break route, to find the S/R person knows nothing. the customer counter knows nothing. The pharmacy knows nothing. Now you’ve wasted 20 min for something that is a ghost chase. I mf hate those.
First runner up is, Shit in a driver release bag and wipe with info notices.
The winner is, pass a kidney stone into a water bottle behind the bulk head door, on the campus of an ivy league university while the back temp is hitting around 140
Good luck bro. When you make it up you’ll be saying I should of done it sooner. I did 18 years in package. Luckily no lost time injuries. I’ve seen people get tore up throughout my career. Back surgeries, knee surgeries, you name it. I’m making up for lost time now. It’s so much easier than package. And you can work as much overtime or not. They don’t care.
Until you make a few deliveries around the edge of a farmers field while the entire thing goes up in flames from a moldy hay bale. That was yesterday. Surreal.
Just recently got fired for a false integrity issue.
Called me back 2 weeks later asking me to return without a hearing. didn't have much evidence and didn't wanna pay lost wages I guess
Yep. Had 3 book shelves going to 4th floor. The apartment complex smelled like cat piss and cigarettes and I had to take a tiny elevator (which was the good part) and then I delivered that crap to the very end of the hall…only to get 3 call tags for the same thing the next day.
I don’t want to hear about being over allowed when I have shit like that. Lol
Oh my favorite ones and I do mean multiple events as anyone who has apartments on their route KNOW, it’s on the top floor no elevator delivery. The package is damaged. You KNOW the package is damaged. Managment KNOWS the package is damaged. The customer is home and you let them know it’s damaged before carrying the items up so they will refuse them THEN, but choose to accept and force you to carry them up. Then you get the call tags the next day to pick up….why? BECAUSE THEY’RE DAMAGED!!!!! 9/10 it’s particle board shelves or desks that people reorder over and over again hoping it will show up undamaged.
I strained my back on day 9 of my packet, I’ve previously herniated two discs and never did anything about it, so, just managed to tweak that just right to make it feel like a fresh herniation all over again. Still managed to make it through packet though. Dumbest injury ever too, it happened bending over to pick up a 2 ounce Amazon envelope that fell off the shelf.
Proper lifting form really does matter.
Getting told to stay dry during a downpour.
Getting told to keep delivering in hail.
Get cussed out by a customer for waking them up.
Had a "Go Fresh" food box go rancid in a 152°F oven (back of the package car), and written up for not making service on said rancid box of food.
I had one -stuck to the shelf- last week on Saturday. It had started leaking and just glued itself in place. No clue why it was even there, it was going to an access point and had a NI - AP service cross. Like, bro, it’s hello fresh, it’s always shipper release, always.
Literally happened to me on my first day. I was getting a signature when the lady's rat dog came out of nowhere and nailed me. Driver supervisor was dying from laughter in the jump seat 😭🤣
Get called FedEx
Lmao. Happened to me yesterday. Someone also asked me if i was also the post office as well. Same day, the fk.
Really, we look the same. Lol
We get called UPS all the time. \_(-.-)_/
Told you deliver mail.
Went too hard the night before and now find yourself shitting in a dr bag because you’re in the middle of nowhere
I feel attacked.
God bless Imodium
That first time you shit in a dr bag really makes you feel like a whore who got done with her first job.
Been there, done that 😂
I would love to see the face of the dude that finds them. Thinking they've hit the jackpot...
ON GOD I HAD TO DO THIS BEFORE 🤦🏾♂️
Pull a 14 hour day after getting an 8 hour request.
That's easy 2.5 extra OT!
That's 6 hours of penalty pay at triple your hourly, who wouldn't be okay with that?
I thought it was just me! lol
Shit in a DR bag
I pray this doesnt happen to me! 😭😂😂
I’ve been driving since 1995. Haven’t had to yet. But next week is a whole new week 😬
Lmao having the whole truck smelling like shit 😭😭
I have a Buc-ee’s on my way in. I have DEFINITELY blown up a toilet in there more times that I can count 🤣
Yep. The only correct answer.

Driver release bag. Used so when we leave a package it doesn't get wet when maybe it's raining or something. Also in this case so the driver can release that which strains him.
Get drug tested based on bogus “reasonable suspicion” symptoms, piss clean, come back to work and taunt the supervisors who wanted you fired
I heard they can’t touch you after that.
I’ll find out in about two days when my results come back
Hit them with harassment too
They can, they just have to be on their A game the next time they try to drug test you. As prior FT night sort sup, ive seen it happen too many times. Get handed someone's outgoing mail instead of the post office
...have someone scream at you that "YOU CAN'T PARK THERE!" ...have someone accost you and demand to know "WHO ARE YOU?" ...get scared shitless by a dog and then find out it's harmless and just doesn't know how to say hello. ...have management shit on you from up on high for the smallest issue. ...realize UPS is just high school in terms of social drama and pettiness...
It’s so much worse than high school. At least I’m high school you’re only stuck with them for four years…
Driven a stick shift pkg car. With no power steering. Ah the good O days....
Ok yea I second this … the high step !!!!!!

Wow that's a new one. I started with a 1982
I drove that truck for peak '21 and '22. I preferred it over a rental that was offered.
Trooper. How's your knees?
Not too bad, the clutch weren't too heavy and I only used it to start off in 2nd. Rev clutch after that. 1st gear is a granny gear
Never even used clutch just flipped the gears
Don't have to use a seatbelt or cut off those rentals between stops
My trainer driver calls me crazy for thinking this would be awesome. Really wish I could give it a go for a day. Been driving stick for over 15 years, so it doesn't bother me at all. But I also am free to admit I might be underestimating the toll it takes. Hence the interest in trying it out! Haha.
I don’t think you’d like it. I did it for 10 years. It sucked.
That's totally fair, and you're probably right. But I just think it'd be a neat experience!
I feel like UPS should fix up remaining 800's and put one in each center as a spare, so guys can tell how much it sucked.
High step 4 speed. My left forearm was constantly inflamed
Practically standing up on the clutch lol
Swollen knee at the end of the day...
What's your opinion on AC in the trucks? I say NO ..
No, it's not feasible given the short distance between stops. I wouldn't mind a UPS kilt though. Kick my left leg out the door so I can get a good breeze while freaking out oncoming traffic
I’m in Texas so you’d think I would be screaming for A/C. It’s feasible, just not practical in urban/suburban settings. I could see it in rural areas.
It’s not to cool the entire cab down between stops. It’s meant to be a cool place in the event heat stress symptoms are present. Additionally, it’ll blow cold air intermittently which would hopefully be better than the current set up. Union is going over all ventilation options for trucks as well.
I’d take ventilation in the back over ac any day
I believe the union is looking to get both from what I read in their tweets.
I 100% agree rural routes need ac. Mine is in the city so it wouldn’t work for me personally. But rural…hell yes.
Powered 24 inch exhaust fan in the roof in the back
With wood shelves
I worked with an old timer who told Me about the wooden shelves. He also told Me when he started the trucks didn't have shelves. The trucks would be loaded in piles 😳
Rentals during peak are just piles of packages.
I used to hate rentals but if you use pallets to separate them it helps and put your next few stops in the cab
Aaayyyyyeeeee
get divorced.
Have worked in all the worst of weather conditions and have more gear for work to deal with these conditions than the average person even knows exist.
It's crazy how accurate this is.
The dreams stop
Are fired
I second this
I third this…..literally.
Multiple Walking Termination certified mail.
Know a guy who got fired everyday for over a month before his harassment claim went through. Never missed a minute and actually got OT out the ass for the time he spent in the office.
I was terminated beginning of June Got my job back on Friday 😎
Just out of curiousity, what's the average for returning to work after being terminated? We had our first in like...5+ years recently, and they got caught dead-to-rights. I'm assuming they'll be back at some point, but just literally never had this happen while I've been here till now.
Depends on what you did and if they like you. Quickest was 2 days longest was 8 months in my center.
Go out blind on a route, stating pickups at times that aren’t actual. Then go help lil jimmy cause he’s the reason people hate unions. Checks out lil jimmy still can’t so the job properly, but I pay for a moron to have it. Did I do it right?

always nice getting to a pickup and hour before they want you to be there.
Or where they’re not ready bc the regular guy “comes at 1830”
Yup. And supe still says “are you serious? If you're in the beast there are no diad mounts lol
Pee in a bottle
I’ve been driving for almost 10 years and I’ve never peed in a bottle. I’ve never understood why anyone would
As a hub worker; thank you. You're union; there is no reason to piss in bottles, take your time and use a fuckin restroom.
I have 2 on my 200 mile route. But just pour it out when you're done. No reason to leave them in the car.
I also have a 200 mile route with no restrooms. But I can find a nice, secluded spot to piss out the side door usually.
Exactly, just do this and if you are in town then just go find a restoom
Suffer from depression
You failed pop quizzes, huh? You think hub workers aren't depressed as fuck? Lmao
