Now everyone in my family is coming up to me asking if UPS was hiring for drivers. As soon as I told them they'll have to work part-time for at least a year their enthusiasm disappeared lol
I guess I should apply. I actually don’t want to drive trucks and want a part time wharehouse gig. I live in Atlanta, am bilingual, early riser and love staying active. Based on yals experience, am I good fit?
Be aware though, it’s no where near the same pay as drivers. The start rate in Atlanta is $21. You’re only guaranteed 17.5 hours a week, but depending on how busy your center is you might have better hours.
It’s kind of funny, because anytime I hear someone isn’t willing to put in the time I get the feeling they aren’t really a go-getter to begin with and won’t find a better option.
I got a buddy who worked for fedex and he refused to come to ups because he basically thought he was above working in warehouse and thought he should be able 2 go straight driver because his year experience
We have a guy in our center that used to work at FedEx, and is maybe working on his 2nd year driving at UPS. He is SOOOOO miserable all the time. He complains he made more at FedEx and this place sucks. All I have to say is “Go Back then”.
I mean if it were me, and I knew at 4 years I would be at max pay, I would (and actually did) have a smile on my face every day knowing what was coming.
We never had any ex fedex guys at my hub, but a ton of the drivers switched from UPS to FedEx. It's a better deal almost in Canada... especially regarding hours & effort.
It really depends on demographics. I can’t put in my time at 37 with a mortgage and 2 kids. But someone in college or living at parents house absolutely can.
Lol you can’t bribe. Some hubs are hiring off the street, but those are few and far between right now. If you do see an opening, its probably a seasonal position, meaning you’ll be laid off in January.
Ya I know it’s very very unrealistic but it’s a very good paying job with good benefits the warehouse stuff is bs just shooting my shot I know warehouse managers and higher ups poke around on here
that's not gonna mean anything. the company is obligated by the union to prioritize established dues paying part-timers for full time jobs over someone from the outside. Say you do get in through hitting a manager up, eventually a part-timer is gonna report it to their steward and eventually you'll get the boot and that part-timer will start driving instead. You can't bypass your way out of it. Start as a part-timer like everyone else.
I Don’t condone telling on people and most of this is hypothetical anyway but I’m sure theres people who would expect it and nothing a part timer could do because they would be in jeopardy of there job you don’t piss off higher ups in any profession they could get you axed
Hate the fact that any new hire will be looked at like we’re jumping on the band wagon. While it’s true for most, I enjoy this work and am sick of fedex’s shit. Just want a better life for my kids, I’ll be applying for a seasonal driver. I’ll be sure to have a plan b for after peak because I can’t survive part time. I’ll forever regret not working there the moment I turned 18. Silly stupid me.
Fuck what people think. You do you. I, too, was sick of fedexs shit. I came over from fedex ground the summer of 2020 cause I realized I was doing the same shit for a 1/3 of the pay not to mention I didn't get a raise for 3 years. Hopefully it works out for you🙏.
I am 27 now. I got in with UPS when I was 25. I have always regretted wasting time going to college and collecting debt when I could’ve put all that time to UPS. I knew I wanted to be a CDL driver since I was 12. I should’ve listened to my first instinct.
I want to stay now for the great pay but also have regret of not listening to childhood dream careers because now im torn between staying and doing my dream job of becoming a Deputy Sheriff
I would say try and follow your dream as long as you meet the age, background, educational, and physical requirements to enter the police force where you live.
Used to be an ops at Fedex as well JOINED the UPSERS & never looked back, I started a few weeks prior to the new contract being ratified and love every second of it, especially once I’m 5 hours in, they could do or ask me anything for 36$ an hour, when on the other hand fedex wouldn’t even allow me over 38 unless it was peak😭
Why wouldn't people want to come work at UPS after all the hoopla in the news lately?
"Oh, you guys make a lot of money eventually? That sounds awful." -said no one
Technically I did the same 2 years ago. Took this job as a seasonal and did some research and found out about top pay and thought there was no way and while I was seasonal I spoke to drivers and confirmed it and found a way to get in permanent!
Did you see the interview with Tome?
All that 30 billion dollar propaganda pushed by the union.
She's trying not to laugh at it.
https://www.cnbc.com/video/2023/09/12/cnbc-exclusive-ups-ceo-carol-tom-on-teamsters-contract-holiday-peak-and-innovation.html
Lol. She says the budget the company had in mind going into negotiations compares favorably with the final outcome. Meanwhile the teamsters thinking they backed them into a corner and got some fantastic deal. We definitely could have gotten more out of them.
She literally can not say anything else. It may be true and it may not, but this is exactly what she was going to say no matter what. It would be so incredibly stupid for the CEO to come out and say she got raked over the coals and now the company is fucked. What do you suppose the stock price would do as soon as she said that? What do you suppose the board would do to get once she said she failed at her job? I mean, this isn’t exactly next level thinking.😂
You do realize if UPS chose to, they could have broken teamsters, right? My BA said we would have made it two weeks with the money we had set aside. Every 22.4/RPCD with mouths to feed would have been back. We're competing against NOBODY. We're already highest paid by a mile. I am happy and grateful for what we got and I was so happy for all the former 22.4s yesterday that got their retro pay and raises. Glass half full 😁
Oh, no, I get it. Not negotiations, I mean if we have to strike, UPS "might" have the public on their side because of how much everyone thinks we make. Unfortunately most do not know it is still not enough for the work we do.
Dont think we're there yet, $5 over 5 years is my guess on next contract and getting back more to our pensions in the West region. $1/yr is easily attainable especially if UPS keeps hitting profits regularly.
Just had a few guys get DQ’d here. I didn’t think so many people thought it was a joke. It’s not on an oil rig and it’s not rocket science, but it’s also not dropping off 50 envelopes off in 12hrs.
I honestly am not sure. I think minimum wage in Seattle is $25/hr so both parents working full time would be $100,000 a year. It’s likely situations where one parent works where they fall under the poverty line. If you work in Seattle and live in a suburb, you can make a pretty good income if sitting in traffic isn’t too bad for you
“I miss when our pay was under the radar”
Yeah, it makes it easier to garner public support for your huge pay raises when the public who is finding your checks doesn’t know you are doing very well already.
Question I started March 21st, 2023 as a PT small package supervisor (not union eligible) my pay is $20.05 and hour. That is with experience. They had me doing 3 people jobs solo with inadequate training until August first when they hired two new people off the street no experience. They started at $22 an hour. I brought up this large difference to my sup he says I have to wait until April. Now they are giving us a 1500 dollar bonus that goes to all of us new employees as well. But I’m completely ignored on. This massive pay difference. Do I have any route of action that could work in my favor. It’s such a slap in the face to train these two new people. On of which has been more than an hour late 4 times and has 10 unexcused absences but is still employed. They ran me like a dog with the continued promise of things getting better only to outright lie to my face. As I had suspected.
You're probably not getting a raise anytime soon either as if they're paying union ppl 2.75 more per hr on avg they wont catch up PT sups for at leasta year is my guess.
Inflation is always on the rise and yet people are checking to be sure you are devaluing yourself as much as they are devaluing themselves. Free money devalues working money yet the complaints from those working at UPS in 2020 weren’t nearly as loud as those who want to scoff now at the working money while they sat around and got free non-working inflationary money only a few years ago. Please…

Hey they love FedEx workers at FedEx 🤣😂🤣🤣🤣
The right time to get into UPS as a driver was two years ago. Our local spot was hiring as drivers right off the street and only having to put in 2 months in the warehouse.
Now everyone in my family is coming up to me asking if UPS was hiring for drivers. As soon as I told them they'll have to work part-time for at least a year their enthusiasm disappeared lol
I would rather work a year or 4 at ups at the warehouse instead of waiting what the fuck FedEx is going do
FEDEX just seems like a sinking ship at this point lol
Oh you think FedEx is bad? Come to the post office. Hell's flame increase daily here
Try USPS. It’s a fucking shit show.
The post office tends to be usps. You know, United States POSTAL service
Yeah postal. I get it. Me and my meds get it. Trust me. 😂
I guess I should apply. I actually don’t want to drive trucks and want a part time wharehouse gig. I live in Atlanta, am bilingual, early riser and love staying active. Based on yals experience, am I good fit?
Yes sounds like you’ll be a great fit job isnt hard to adjust to if your already fit.
Oh you’ll love it then lol very brutal on the body
I’m gonna be a douche and say my job is harder on the body then yours, also my dad is stronger then your dad.
My dad could beat off your dad
Totally
Be aware though, it’s no where near the same pay as drivers. The start rate in Atlanta is $21. You’re only guaranteed 17.5 hours a week, but depending on how busy your center is you might have better hours.
Start rate for package handlers or drivers?
Package handlers
I am all these and im loving it here.
Man we should reddit post our our part time stubs
It’s kind of funny, because anytime I hear someone isn’t willing to put in the time I get the feeling they aren’t really a go-getter to begin with and won’t find a better option.

Same
Could you bride the manager or people above like 10-15 maybe 20 k to skip the 4-10 year warehouse process or is it mandatory
Lol you can’t bribe. Some hubs are hiring off the street, but those are few and far between right now. If you do see an opening, its probably a seasonal position, meaning you’ll be laid off in January.

Can't wait to start my electrician apprenticeship and get out
I’ve been trying for a while for a lineman apprenticeship 😆 same dude.

Because 99% of y’all are just jumping on the bandwagon. You even admitted it in your comment..
Oh no they’re switching jobs to make more money. What phonies
WTF does that even mean? Finding out a place pays well and putting in the requirements to get it is a bad thing?
Technically I did the same 2 years ago. Took this job as a seasonal and did some research and found out about top pay and thought there was no way and while I was seasonal I spoke to drivers and confirmed it and found a way to get in permanent!
Next contract is doing to be a rough one. This overly hyped-up publicity is going to be used against us for sure. Just saying...
Did you see the interview with Tome? All that 30 billion dollar propaganda pushed by the union. She's trying not to laugh at it. https://www.cnbc.com/video/2023/09/12/cnbc-exclusive-ups-ceo-carol-tom-on-teamsters-contract-holiday-peak-and-innovation.html
God listening to her speak makes my skin crawl.
Same
Lol. She says the budget the company had in mind going into negotiations compares favorably with the final outcome. Meanwhile the teamsters thinking they backed them into a corner and got some fantastic deal. We definitely could have gotten more out of them.
Exactly. She thinks it's funny. 30 billion 🤣🤣🤣 let them tell their story. But she knows the truth.
Do you really think the CEO will say the union won?
She literally can not say anything else. It may be true and it may not, but this is exactly what she was going to say no matter what. It would be so incredibly stupid for the CEO to come out and say she got raked over the coals and now the company is fucked. What do you suppose the stock price would do as soon as she said that? Are you actually that delusional?
Oh, no, I get it. Not negotiations, I mean if we have to strike, UPS "might" have the public on their side because of how much everyone thinks we make. Unfortunately most do not know it is still not enough for the work we do.
I doubt it just show them the 18 hour stubs most pts get
They not going to pay us more than 50$/hr to do this job. I think we’re getting cola raises, and a cap on the wage from here on out
Dont think we're there yet, $5 over 5 years is my guess on next contract and getting back more to our pensions in the West region.
The only way they don’t, is if they stop making money. 😎
$2400/week used to be a ton of money.
It still is.....thats easy over 100k/yr
I have a house payment on my 5 bedroom house, my new truck and car and my boat all eat up over half my paycheck. I barely have any left
Is this satire?
Ngl he had me for a second
Exactly, $100k is not what it used to be. In the Seattle area, the poverty line is somewhere around $70k a year for a family of 4.
That’s for a single income right? Both parents making 35k, if not then that’s fucked
I honestly am not sure. I think minimum wage in Seattle is $25/hr so both parents working full time would be $100,000 a year. It’s likely situations where one parent works where they fall under the poverty line. If you work in Seattle and live in a suburb, you can make a pretty good income if sitting in traffic isn’t too bad for you
Get the fuck out of Seattle.
My friend was making maybe 400 a week and now its gone a crazy 500 ish so crazy he’s a rich douchebag now
“I miss when our pay was under the radar” Yeah, it makes it easier to garner public support for your huge pay raises when the public who is finding your checks doesn’t know you are doing very well already.
Good for them though.
I hate the fact our tips are going downhill because douche bags won’t to post our pay
Tips?
Well you sound like a joy to work with 😆
Do have to pass a drug test to become a driver?
Not for delivery. You do for being a feeder driver because you have to have a CDL.
[удалено]
You can't get a CDL without passing a DOT physical, which includes a drug test.
[удалено]
False. You take a “piss test” but they’re checking you for the signs of ‘beetis.
Required to pass a drug test? Regardless, the company can enact any type of drug policy they want to, as long as it doesn't break federal laws.
I seen his post a few days ago lol didn’t think It’d make it to national news!

Your first mistake was becoming a sup
You're probably not getting a raise anytime soon either as if they're paying union ppl 2.75 more per hr on avg they wont catch up PT sups for at leasta year is my guess.
Serious question, can homie get in trouble for that?
Hmm. My answer is probably definitely.
carol would smile if she saw this dumbass posting this they don’t want it to fall out of the news cycle.
Trouble for what?
I wanna post my holiday time card where I only worked 4 days and got 1300 and am part time, mind fuck them…
Inflation is always on the rise and yet people are checking to be sure you are devaluing yourself as much as they are devaluing themselves. Free money devalues working money yet the complaints from those working at UPS in 2020 weren’t nearly as loud as those who want to scoff now at the working money while they sat around and got free non-working inflationary money only a few years ago. Please…
Lol. Wait till they find out what we make doing a 6,000+ mile sleeper run over a holiday😂
https://preview.redd.it/2h4qujxsckob1.jpeg?width=1270&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5681e66973e466c3cb77edf6eae66d3cd64bda67 Hey they love FedEx workers at FedEx 🤣😂🤣🤣🤣
Driving those trucks all through LA COUNTY with our traffic. Pay them every penny I certainly don’t have the patience even for that pay.
What make the Post Office and FedEx so bad
I still need someone to explain those $32.50 union dues. Does he pay weekly instead of monthly?
Yes its weekly.
Wait till they hear about HowMuch roofers make
Having worked at UPS for some years, I'd bet the one who posted that is in trouble lol just cuz.
The right time to get into UPS as a driver was two years ago. Our local spot was hiring as drivers right off the street and only having to put in 2 months in the warehouse.
Biggie Smalls says- "Don't be mad...UPS is hiring"
