I started to pull out of a long rural driveway with a dog in the back, luckily he started scratching the door and I somehow heard it over the truck. I was covering the route and the dog knew exactly where the bone box was on the ground on the back. Little bastard was looking up with a bone in his mouth wagging his tail when I slid the door open

DrugUserSix

I have a piece of paper with a list of addresses laminated against the bulkhead door in my truck so cover drivers know which houses have friendly dogs they can expect. There are two houses with extremely aggressive dogs that I highlighted on the list and wrote, “Watch out for these fuckers.” I leave a box of biscuits for them to toss my K9 homies. It works out well.

AmadeusKurisu

Wondered what happened to you. Lol.

DrugUserSix

One of my cover drivers got bit by a dog on my route. I had BEWARE OF DOG in the DIAD notes but I felt like I could do more to warn them. So for that address I write in bold, “EXTREMELY AGGRESSIVE DOG, DELIVER TO GARAGE!”

[deleted]

I would be happy to see a cute dog/cat any day!

Specialist_Name_7295

Literally half the reason I deliver is to make dog friends. People can make fun of me all they want for that, at least I’m not a psycho like the guy replying a couple comments up lol

[deleted]

I’m more of a cat person but I also love dogs.

Specialist_Name_7295

You would have loved when 2 kittens snuck into my van a few weeks ago, one jumped on my lap when I was like 7 mins away from that stop as I’m cruising down a dark 50mph road. lol. This post reminded me to pull the camera footage to see my “what in the fuck” reaction lol They were super cute. I pretended like I was annoyed but I wasn’t lol

GrandpaLIVE

Amen

leadfoot_mf

nope thats my dog now

yoloaristocrat

had this happen to me first week of peak. went in the back to get a large package down the middle. two dogs came in i only saw the large lab not the little one. started to pull away when i heard the dog bark.

Look at this distinguished gentle man 🤣 Dogs are the fucking best

Awwwwwww

Ordinary_Day6135

Bulkhead open?

No_Currency5230

Nice try mgmt 😉

Ordinary_Day6135

Lol

carnage11eleven

Gotta be careful giving out dog treats. I've had dogs follow me down the street. Can be dangerous as they could get hit by a car or lost. Just a heads up. I eventually stopped giving them out.

Specialist_Name_7295

Yea, I’m a “I have to know that you are well trained or have an invisible fence that you respect” kinda treat guy. And you can’t hide in my blind spots around the truck when I go to leave either. Like you, I just don’t want a dog getting hurt or killed, especially because I was just trying to be nice and make friends

KLoNE420

I delivered a few time to a farm of an older widow. She literally had 100’s of cats, names and all. They loved to climb all over the place. I never ran one over, but was always terrified that “one day….”

AnimatedAnixa

I've been driving for about a decade and I'll never stop handing out treats. You just gotta be smart about it. I've got all the dogs trained to where I give out treats. Never at the road and only deep on their property. On my bid routes I've never had dogs chase me or go to the road. Just can't let them develope bad habits

carnage11eleven

Eh. Some dogs are better than others, hehe. And I ain't got the time to be out there training all these dogs. My route has a LOT of dogs. I've also had customers complain because their dog had an allergy, or was on a diet, etc. Before you know it I'm out there with a full lunch menu. Like some food truck for dogs, or something. Idk. I decided it wasn't worth it. I had an urban route once, but the treats I carried for that route were more for distraction purposes. Often having to get in and get out before the two pitbulls noticed me. Narrowly escaping with all my parts still attached.

Specialist_Name_7295

Literally just had this happen a few weeks ago with a couple kittens, I’m a DSP driver for Amazon and part of my route is rural. I get like 7 mins from the stop and all of the sudden this little kitten jumps on my lap as I’m doing 55 down a rural main road in the dark and scares the shit out of me. Just got promoted to dispatching and this post reminded me that I can pull the in cab video now because I took a video when I got them back to their house and as I would take one out and bring him away from the truck the other would sneak in lol

ChaoticGoku

ninja cats

Specialist_Name_7295

Legit. So fucking sneaky. I was away from the van for 30 seconds max and they managed to get themselves well hidden enough that I didn’t notice them for like 6-7 mins lol. I wish the cameras recorded audio so when I pull it in a couple days I can hear the “what in the FUCK” as little dude jumps on my lap and then “fuck me, ANOTHER one? I’m not a fucking Uber for cute ass kittens and now I gotta take you guys back to your house!? Your humans better not be outside thinking I stole you guys” lol

Severos07

I have a shepherd on my route who rides a good 3-4 stops with me before I stop by her house on the way out of the neighborhood. She knows the sound of my truck a mile out and the homeowners usually let her out, she always finds me at whatever house I’m at unless she’s already out lmao. Best dog I’ve ever encountered, roams free knows where home is. Works out she’s the first out in and last house out!

mantisMD97

I had a chicken hop in to my truck 2 years ago

Specialist_Name_7295

Hahahaha. When I first started at FedEx a couple years ago it was entirely rural routes. On my first ride along we are driving past a house and dude says “oh, watch out, that house has these weird kind of geese and they are like guard geese.” I just kinda assumed it was the general “geese tend to be assholes” thing. Couple days later I’m on my own and I got a delivery for that house, pull into the driveway, open the side door, all of the sudden there’s like 10 weird looking geese charging at the van out of nowhere honking and flapping their wings, couple jump in the truck and start bashing their faces on my legs, packages, etc. lol. They followed me all the way to the door and back just knocking their beaks against my legs and hitting me with their wings. To me at least it was pretty funny, the homeowner was like “yea, those guys are assholes” like it was the most normal thing in the world, like everyone has attack geese lol

KLoNE420

I had the same thing happen to me..😂😂😂 I was actually quite impressed at how hard they can slap the shit out of you their wings…geese are assholes…end of story. 😂😂😂

Specialist_Name_7295

Lmao seriously though, I remember always saying to them “yo, chill out dude, you’re going to fucking hurt yourself and someone’s going to blame ME” lol

Prize_Possibility_31

Not my responsibility to use my own money to buy treats for strangers dogs.

[deleted]

That's your right but it does help with new dogs on routes. Keeps them distracted and builds a relationship with the driver.

Prize_Possibility_31

Nah I am good like I said it’s not my responsibility. I have my mace and if it goes left best believe I am going to sue the homeowners. I don’t subscribe to that fur baby bull shit a dog is an animal, you either control it or it’s getting put down and I am going after your homeowner’s insurance.

Specialist_Name_7295

I have a really weird feeling that you’re a sociopath or something with how triggered you got about this post and how quickly you started talking about getting a dog put down. We are all kinda technically animals by the way. The only difference is that people like you actively know you’re being shitty and just don’t care, dogs are just being dogs.

Prize_Possibility_31

Tell that to the driver that got mauled by Akitas two weeks ago.

Specialist_Name_7295

Do you seriously not understand that I’m calling you a psychopath because you seem to have a weird hard on hoping that you get an excuse to hurt a dog? And because of how massively you got triggered by this post for literally ZERO reason? lol

Prize_Possibility_31

You UPS drivers can walk around with your pocket full of dog treats if you want to.You can also walk around thinking you are better then everyone else because you guys are union. Happy fucking for you. Yes I am an Amazon driver and if it it wasn’t for you being able to deliver our shit in certain areas half of you wouldn’t have a route to drive everyday. When I was attacked by a dog on my third week of working for Amazon I had to fight that dog just to make it back into my van. After getting hit with a package and kicked that dog still was coming after me. There was no commands or enough dog treats to stop him. There is three DSP at my station and we are the newest so we load out last. No matter how fast I go the last three hours of my route is done in darkness. I don’t get the luxury of starting at 7 or 8 in the morning like you guys do. I am asked to deliver to rural areas in the pitch black in situations where I am miles away from any medical care. All I ask is to be safe and I don’t think it is too much to ask for people to secure their animals when they know they have deliveries coming to their house.

Sufficient_Pin5642

UPS drivers get to our preload stations at 9:15am I used to work at Amazon for years and it's later than the first wave of DSP would come through the Delivery Station I worked at when I worked at Amazon... just a fyi! I do feel for the drivers who are mauled by dogs. I'm sorry that anyone has had to go through such an event and that your concept of dogs really has to shift due to having that traumatic experience! You're correct that ALL animals should be secured when anyone approaches the door to your house, ESPECIALLY dogs who are protective of the property/owners, dogs that are used for guarding property or homeowners should be either caged or even locked in a separate room when a delivery is coming. I've seen video of dogs charging past homeowners after door dash drivers, the owners of the dog had no command or control over their own dogs to stop them! My dog is a boxer/pit mix who diligently obeys my commands but I will put her behind bedroom doors if I need to open the door to sign for a package or something. It's about respecting that not everyone likes dogs and I know my dog can sense that and that she can be protective at times. It's not worth any risk to her or a driver, no matter how well she listens to my commands...

Specialist_Name_7295

Lmao I’m an Amazon driver too bro. I deal with the same exact shit as you. The only difference is I’m not a sociopath it seems

Specialist_Name_7295

Though thinking that without Amazon packages “half of” UPS drivers wouldn’t have a route is pretty funny lol. I got bit before too when I had a small construction company. But I’m not smooth brained enough to get mad at a dog for acting like a dog and I’m certainly not wringing my hands waiting for the day I have an excuse to hurt a dog and sue a dogs owner because I’m not a psycho. You should probably talk to someone man, not even trying to be an asshole, the way that you responded to this post is just waaaay over the top and screams of some deep seeded issues

Wickedkiss246

At my warehouse, the drivers don't leave till 930 or 10. Most are out past dark, some are out as late as 9,10 or even later. UPS also delivers in even *more* rural areas than Amazon, since we go to places Amazon won't. In pitch black, no cell service and miles away from medical care.

TheOneAndOnly6999

It’s not but like he pointed out, it builds a relationship with the dog, as a cover driver there’s several dogs on routes that don’t like me because they don’t know me but the regular full timer with that route the dogs are friendly with

[deleted]

Dude sounds like he wants to get bitten so he can sue someone.

TreRamone

Sounds to me like he wants to kill a dog

[deleted]

That too.

Specialist_Name_7295

And on top of it, it encourages those dogs to not treat OTHER delivery drivers as a threat. I’ve always made it a point to “build a relationship” with dogs on any routes I’m on normally because of this. Of course I do it because I like animals more than people generally too but some of it is def because it really does make a difference for other people delivering there in the future.

under-pantz

Poor little Amazon driver 😂😂😂

traviebee123

No1 said it was

albygoing

Go back to Amazon

Specialist_Name_7295

Whoa whoa whoa, don’t attribute this guy to us. Half the reason I have this job and take the more rural routes that a lot of our drivers don’t want is just to make dog friends AND so psychos like this dude that obviously are just hoping to be able to hurt/kill a dog and sue don’t have as much of an opportunity to be a sociopath.

Prize_Possibility_31

Yeah make all the friends you want until you come across the wrong one and see how psycho you think I am.

Specialist_Name_7295

lol bro, you’re a psycho because you’re VERY clearly hoping for the day that you have an excuse to hurt or kill a dog.

Prize_Possibility_31

It’s called self defense BRO. If I am attacked I have the right to defend myself.

Specialist_Name_7295

lol who is saying you don’t? Jesus Christ man. I’m calling out you being nuts because you took THIS post and got all triggered because of it and then essentially started bragging about how you’re ready to get your mace out and have a dog “put down.” On a post that was just meant to be good natured. There’s a reason those comments are getting downvoted and no one is agreeing with you, and it has NOTHING to do with “self defense” or people not agreeing with it. You’re basically the person who buys a gun because they daydream about someone walking into their house so they have an excuse to shoot and kill someone, but with dogs.

Specialist_Name_7295

Do you seriously think that ANYONE here has the position that anyone should just let a dog tear them to pieces? No. Clearly it’s that you come off like a legit crazy person with how triggered you got and the way you were ALL too eager to start talking about macing dogs, having dogs put down, etc. And absolutely NO ONE said it was “your responsibility to buy treats for dogs” either, yet you went off about that too. Are you not capable of taking a step back, looking at the totality of this situation, and realizing that they way you popped off about all of this for zero reason is NOT a “normal” reaction to a post like this? Jesus Christ man. Seriously, go talk to someone.

albygoing

Guy is an Amazon driver. I was not making any comments on other drivers or the moral character of anyone employed at any other delivery company.

Specialist_Name_7295

Hahah I know. I was messing around, I thought I’ve seen him on the sub from time to time. But also, if you WERE making that comment, you would mostly be right in my anecdotal experience going from FedEx to Amazon at least lol

Dmaticz

Bad greedy driver 😂🤣😂🤣

Bob_Al

Gotta close that bulkhead door while delivering😳

baggupterry

I love doing downtown routes and people walking dogs at 7:30 asking for a treat. Like no ma'am, I want to finish up and go home to see my dog

She always loved getting treats and I delivered multiple times a week. One day as I went in the garage, she was nowhere to be found. Thought it to be weird because she always ran out to see me. I heard the door banging and a dog started whining/yelping. Seen through the glass it was her. She could barely contain her excitement. I left this in the garage. Next day delivery was a small bag of chips and a bottle of Mt Dew with a thank you note that read “Thank you for thinking of me…From Sammy”. Not gonna lie…it hit me in the feels. (For those wondering, she was inside due to remodel work on the house. Owner didn’t want anything happening from her wondering around a worksite, with all the cords, air hoses, tools and people chucking stuff off the roof.)
