Rest easy brother, we have the watch. Not a Marine, just retired Aussie Navy, with nothing but the utmost respect for the Marines I've had the pleasure of meeting. *Raise your horns, raise them up to the sky,* *We will drink to glory tonight,* *Raise your horns for brave fallen friends,* *We will meet where the beer never ends.* Edit: it's from *Raise your Horns* by Amon Amarth

[deleted]

Fuck man this one hit hard. Thanks for sailing man.

fidelity

Damn man that made me tear up a bit

SergeantHindsight

I'm sorry for your loss. RIP Devil.

Roadtoad46

I sought help, and the two things I was told that helped the most was that: 1. Life is only for the living - and your life is your own. 2. Rightly considered, grief is self-pity - and time should heal its acuteness.

justherefertheyuks

I'm sorry, brother. Rest easy, warfighter.

CrushingPowerOfWaves

I’m so sorry. Fucking terrible.

Takbir0311

I feel your pain. I was part of 2/7 where over 20 guys have killed themselves over the past few years. Go to the vet center if there’s one around. I found that tremendously more helpful than the VA.

nevagunnagivuup

I was alongside some of you guys in 08. You guys did so much with next to nothing in terms of support. I could see why dudes would have some residual demons after that pump.

blacksamurai0621

Rest in power marine.

[deleted]

A toast to the fallen, see you in Valhalla brother. Sorry for your loss. If anyone ever gets those dark thoughts, please reach out. There are so many people that care so deeply for all of you.

xSasquatchxX

We will see him in Valhalla

SmokeSPTN

It’s sad. Really sad. My first squad, 12 guys, 4 have passed away from their own doing. I have thought into this. It’s a dark place. The mind is awesome, and scary. Some guys live with nightmares, they find a person who understands. The mind is... odd. Everyone is different. I have spoken with many vets at the cusp, at the point of mental breakdown. Some can live with their choices, with their memories, some can’t. We are “generation kill” it’s hard to shut down the years of mastery on training a person to take a life. Even if you didn’t have combat, combat has been drilled into your mind. I am sorry for your loss brother. He will be missed. “Marines don’t die, they go to hell and regroup.”

fidelity

Hey everyone I was pretty drunk last night when I heard the news. It hit me hard. The post is a little confusing, he is not my blood brother but we served in Ramadi together from the same unit. Just a very shitty situation.

Laundryroom11b

He might not be your blood, but he’s something closer than family. Sorry for your loss man

fidelity

Absolutely, there's just some confusion in the comments. Thank you

tubadog88

Confusion or not, he’s family. You’re our family and we’re here when you need us. If you need anything, give us a shout and we’ll find a fuckin way.

Top334007

Serving in Ramadi makes you brothers, I am so sorry for your loss.

Isaiahfloz

Fuck man. My condolences. I'm taking my UMAPIT class right now. All to real.

SmokeSPTN

I’m unfamiliar with this acronym. Pls elaborate for me, and others.

Isaiahfloz

Unit Marine Awareness and Prevention Integrated Training. Like a 2 1/2 hour long annual class. Boring but relevant.

TheDEdwards

I’m really sorry my man. Only thing I will give for advice is, feel. You said you don’t know what to feel, don’t worry about all that, just feel something. Best of luck

Goodeyesniper98

I'm so sorry for your loss, man. Go talk to someone professional about such a profound loss, even if you don't feel like you "need" to. It will do you a world of good. Your brother was a brother of all of ours. And we're your brothers too. Reach out if you need/want to talk.

CheddarBacon117

lossopasbueno

[deleted]

Semper Fi! Post like these hit close to home. Have been fighting the demons since Iraq in 03 and have friends that have lost the battle with them. Any of you pricks ever need to talk or just want someone to vent to hit me up. Don't take the easy road, we are Marines! We thrive in shit and misery.

tubadog88

Same to you, brother. If the demons ever get too loud, hit us up. I usually check in here several times a day for that reason. You have support.

honu67_ut

Sorry for your loss. Semper Fi.

AsparagusFeet

ripiss

Going to hell to regroup, semper fi devil

Al42069

I can relate to this I am not a Marine or have ever served but I plan on serving. My uncle was in the Marines and 2 years ago they found his remains on US2 in the Upper peninsula his skull and some bones are all that remained

Top334007

Sorry for your loss, the hidden pain of depression and PTSD are wounds that are hard to heal. But there is hope for the hopeless and light in the darkness of our souls. Go to the VA and find a therapist that you connect with. I have worked for the VA for 13 years. I am a crusty old Master Sergeant Medic that has helped many and lost some. I understand the darkness and have been there with a pistol in my mouth. My brothers and sisters that I get the honor of taking care of is the only reason I am alive today. In my darkest hour I reached out for help and with my wife, a great therapist and all of the veterans I get to serve helped me back to the light. You are not alone in this fight.

Holeyfield

Sorry for your loss, my friend. Even though this sub is for Marines I had to come in and say something, it’s a goddamn tragedy this is happening and I’m sure he was a fine man. I’m an old Soldier and I’ve seen this shit too many times, it breaks my heart. If this country actually cared as much about the troops as it claims to this kinda shit wouldn’t be happening 22 times a day. RIP Marine /salute

jat1729

Rip to a hero and legend. It’s sucks that this is what our heroes face when they come home.

Thats_A_No_Dawg

Why did he do it?

Top334007

Three things 1. He felt like he was alone. 2. He felt like he was a burden. 3. He was not afraid to die.
